Bubba Watson bought Tiger Woods' old house at Isleworth

Everyone knew that Bubba Watson bought a new house in Orlando's gated Islewood community and was in the middle of remodeling it but, what nobody knew was that it was his good friend Tiger Woods' old house.

It is the same property where Tiger and his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, had the Thanksgiving night spat which launched the Woods cheating scandal and began the golfer's descent in 2009. You might have heard about it.

"It's true," Watson said about the infamous house where Elin chased Tiger with a golf club. "We closed last summer and we're moving in next Thursday or Friday."

Angie Watson is in Scottsdale, Ariz. with their adopted son Caleb and her parents while they get ready to move into what will become their primary residence.  It was completely overhauled in the renovation.

"I looked at probably 50 houses before I looked at Tiger's," Watson said. "A lot of the houses there are old, and we ended up changing everything. We probably saved five percent of it.  We built it all around Caleb.  There are like three playrooms."

Watson, who shot a second-round 69 at the WGC-Cadillac Championship Friday, is joining a slew of pro golfers who have decided to live in Orlando-based gated communities.  He cited a 2012 incident where the Masters champ and his wife were chased through traffic on their way home.

"We've seen things in the news — our world is crazy," Watson said. "And it's nice to have that piece of mind when we take walks or go outside.

"The golf course is really good, too, for me to practice," he added.

Watson — one of the really good guys in sports — deserves that peace of mind.

The new homeowners said they gutted everything inside the lakeside house but didn't knock it down.

If those walls that are still standing could only talk.

  1. a gated community, a lovely prison for the rich. The world is crazy because we keep building walls and making our stars and entertainers ridiculously rich egomaniacs.

    1. We aren't 'making our stars ... rich egomaniacs.' The sports industry permits those with the requisite skills to compete head-to-head. These men and women EARN their own riches, no one is giving them anything. Professional sports is performance based.
I'd rather live in a 'lovely prison for the rich' instead of the 'gloomy dread of envy and greed' you live in.

  2. This comment, coming from someone remaining "anonymous." The world has douchebags like this who throw barbs behind protected (Internet) walls.

  3. We all have a right to privacy regardless of economic status. The world is crazy because some people give themselves permission to violate the the space of whomever they feel have achieved more sucess than they have.
The world is a less safe place with attitudes like this
    lurking among us.

  7. Tiger will win on courses he always wins on,,BUT,,he will NEVER win a major again,,,why? Because to win a major,,one must have a clean mind and spirit,,he lacks both.

    3. It must be really good to be a god-like human being sitting at your computer in your milky, white judge's robe, unblemished by sin as we other mere mortals are! Have you walked on water lately, healed the sick or raised the dead? We desperately need a cure for cancer and, surely, with just the touch of your hand, you should be able to cast this dreaded disease out of those who are afflicted with it, just as Jesus cast out demons when he walked the face of this earth! It must be a heavy burden indeed to be a deity among men and women who were conceived in iniquity and born in sin!
As for the article itself, no one was murdered in the house and so I don't know why it would be considered infamous, and Elin personally denied that she chased Tiger with a golf club in the only interview that she gave in People Magazine.

  8. I would say Tiger's mind should be cleaner now and have less stress due to not having to think about getting caught...the stress is all off of him now.....

  11. Who writes these articles for YARDBARKER? The statement "Watson — one of the really good guys in sports — deserves that piece of mind" is ridiculous. Doesn't the writer realize that the word "piece" (as in slice or chunk) and the word "peace" (as in tranquility or freedom from disquieting thoughts) are not the same thing? So called professional writers not paying attention to detail, and thereby destroying the English language, is much more disturbing than people complaining about lifestyles of the rich and famous, and each other.
