It may not exactly be Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake but these two nonagenarians ran a thrilling 100-meter heat during a veteran's track meet in San Sebastian, Spain the other day.
94-year-old Emiel Pauwels of Belgium came for behind to defeat Finland's 95-year-old Ilmari Koppinen at the tape. What may look like more of a preventive dash to the men's room than an athletic event (it might have been both) is a moot point considering that both men still cracked the heralded 17-second barrier.
Koppinen was overheard later telling people he lost because the Belgian sprinter was younger.
That was 50 meters not 100 meters.
