NY Giants will wear white pants in 2013

The New York Giants will wear white pants in a game for the first time since 1999.  The team announced Tuesday that it will use an alternative uniform for select games next season, but only below the waist.

For the first time since last century, the players will wear the tight whites instead of traditional gray. The white pants will have a thin red stripe bordered by gray and blue stripes and only be worn with blue jerseys — so there will never be a white-on-white combination. That look was last used 13 years ago and was also the last years the team had the word "GIANTS" written on the side of their helmets.  In 2000, Big Blue went back to the classic "NY" logo on the helmets.

NFL rules allow teams to incorporate three pant styles in their uniform wardrobe.  Last season the Giants used the same pants — gray with a blue stripe bordered by gray and red stripes — for both home and away games.

The team has not yet announced which games will feature the white pants
