Mariano Rivera wears Eli Manning jersey during MNF coin toss

Hoping to turn the team’s fortune's around, the New York Giants called in newly-retired New York Yankee Mariano Rivera to do the honorary coin flip for their game against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night.

The legendary Rivera wore an Eli Manning jersey to the game then sat in owner John Mara's suite with his family.

Rivera, who retired this season after a 19-year career with the New York Yankees, also spoke briefly before the game with several of the Giants including Mara and head coach Tom Coughlin.

The future Hall of Fame closer was probably telling them how weird it felt to actually be starting a game — even if it is football.
