Frightening moment a motorcycle runs over two bicyclists on Southern Cal road

A couple of cyclists were lucky to escape serious injury when a motorcyclist took them out on a scenic Southern California mountain road.

The pair were wiped out by the motorcycle when it tried to navigate a turn and veered onto the narrow dirt shoulder of the winding road where the two cyclists were peddling uphill.

The pair were left sprawled on the road and had to be taken away in an ambulance after the crash along a stretch of Mulholland Highway outside Los Angeles, California. Neither the two cyclists or the biker were seriously injured.

Footage of the crash was recorded by motorcycle enthusiast and videographer Ken Snyder and posted to YouTube the next day.

He wrote in the video's description that increasing numbers of cyclists had been using the famous stretch of road, which has long been popular with motorbike riders.

"This is the first time a bicycle has been hit by a motorcycle in the four years I've been up here," he told The Huffington Post.

He said he thought the motorcyclist had been riding safely at a sensible speed, but hit a bump causing the bike to go wide.

It's a good thing helmets were worn by everyone involved.
