Lenny Dykstra gets shaggy behind bars

It looks like Lenny Dykstra is going for that old Brian Wilson look while he is behind bars.

A mugshot of the gray-bearded Dykstra, once known as "Nails" for his all-out playing style, was obtained by TMZ and shows the former New York Mets centerfielder sporting a ZZ Top starter face.

It bears little resemblance to the "Dude" of old.

Dykstra, who was a key member of the the Mets 1986 World Series championship team, is in jail for a full roster of crimes — including bankruptcy fraud, grand theft auto and a couple of lewd Craigslist incidents.

The self-taught financial investor made a fortune while his stock-picking website became popular and his financial advice magazine, the Players Club, had investment advice exclusively for pro athletes to help them with money management.

Dykstra's jet-setting lifestyle fell apart during the housing crash a few years ago.

The 49-year-old Dykstra was facing 20 more years in prison last December but prosecutors recommended 2 1/2 years — for three felony counts of money laundering, bankruptcy fraud and concealing assets — on top of the three years he is already serving for grand theft auto.

  2. Kids, this is what you become after taking more than a few beanballs to the head while using steroids. I'm surprised he's even able to speak after that history. Shame...

  5. I have seen some bad times, some really bad times but stepping over that line was never even an option. I personally think that he got off pretty lightly. I feel like anyone besides a former pro athlete would have received a much stiffer sentence.

  6. I saw douchebag universes collide the other day on ESPN Classic. A young Lenny Dykstra being interviewed by a younger and even douchier looking Jim Rome. Each of them in full douche mode.
