Skier flees avalanche, lands epic backflip in mid-flight

Imagine being chased by an avalanche while skiing down the side of a mountain and still being able to pull off a backflip with tons of snow ready bury you.

Swedish skier Sverre Liliequist did just that, after he made the acrobatic move (at :57 seconds), during a dramatic moment of the Swatch Skiers Cup 2013 in Zermatt, Switzerland.

Liliequist didn't need to do the backflip, but it certainly added to the surreal moment caught by a helicopter camera crew.

The daredevil skier lands the 360 while the crest of the avalanche is just upon him.

Liliequist makes it down the mountain as the wall of white stuff subsides to cheers and celebratory yells with his teammates at the finish.  The Swatch Skiers Cup is a competition where the best skiers from Europe and America compete in a team format.

The Swede has won both of his downhill runs so far and added another highlight to his reel.
