Matt Harvey threw a Twitter ball on Thursday and got himself thrown out of the park.
The New York Mets pitcher posted and hastily deleted a fawning thank-you to Donald Trump on Instagram after golfing on the GOP presidential hopeful’s newly opened Bronx course.
“Off with some TEAMMATES!” Harvey wrote in the post. “Thanks @realdonaldtrump @donaldjtrumpjr @trumpferrypoint for a great day on the new course.”
The right-hander, in dark glasses and a polo shirt, posed with Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki, pitcher Jon Niese and bullpen catcher Eric Langill with the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in the background.
Harvey’s simple thank-you to The Donald came as companies from NBC to Macy’s have quickly to cut ties with Trump over his controversial remarks about Mexico sending “rapists” and other miscreants to the U.S. rather than “their best.”
After Harvey's tweet, fans blasted the Mets’ pitching ace on Twitter.
“Good, I’ve always liked de Grom better anyway,” read one tweet from @PatJoeBurke, referring to Jacob deGrom, another Mets’ pitcher.
“Matt Harvey probably doesn’t even know Donald Trump is running for president,” wrote @MylesUdland.
