You may remember when Bubba Watson became the proud owner of the General Lee 01 in 2012 after spending $110,000 at auction to win the iconic orange 1969 Dodge Charger used by the Duke brothers in the popular 80s TV show "Dukes of Hazzard."
On Thursday, Watson weighed in with his opinion of the Confederate flag dispute as it relates to his prized car — and decided to cover up the controversial symbol.

All men ARE created equal, I believe that so I will be painting the American flag over the roof of the General Lee #USA

The flag has become a newsworthy symbol of hatred — and Bubba knows all about animosity and alienation. A recent poll revealed that the the golfer was the most disliked golfer on the PGA Tour.
Reaction to the golfer's decision was mixed on social media with one twitter user writing that he was "Saddened to hear @bubbawatson is going to paint over the confederate flag on the general lee. You should sell it before you ruin it" while another wrote that it "Won't be the General Lee anymore."
