There was a scary moment during Wednesday night's Marlins-Diamondbacks game after a pitch got away from Jose Fernandez and struck Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta square on the helmet.
Peralta, who was later reported to be OK, got laid out on the frightening — but seemingly unintentional — pitch to the head.
The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, didn’t take the incident lying down, and soon retaliated when Dominic Leone purposely hit the Marlins' Christian Yelich on the leg.
The D-Backs later reported, to great relief, that Peralta wasn't seriously injured.
Things could have turned ugly in more ways than one. Thankfully, clearer heads prevailed after Leone's silly plunking.David Peralta was removed from tonight's #Dbacks game for precautionary reasons. He passed all concussion tests and is day-to-day.— Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) July 23, 2015
