North Melbourne and Hawthorne were locked in a close game in the third quarter Friday night when a tussle between two players escalated quickly. Brian Lake of Hawthorn threw North Melbourne's Drew Petrie to the ground and started choking him for an extended length of time before teammates and referees could end the throttling.
The Kangaroos forward said that he had been simply trying to grab Petrie around the collarbone area.
Lake avoided a long suspension despite pleading guilty at Tuesday's hearing. He said the action was in self defense and will miss only four matches.
Sounds like a tiggy touchdown to me.
