Announcer calls dramatic game-winning shot, then abruptly signs off the air

There probably isn't a record kept for The Most Abrupt Mic Drop After a Game-Winning Shot by an Announcer but, if there was, this video recorded it.

With a Miami preps hoops game tied at 54-54, Miami (Fla.) Christopher Columbus High School guard Chris Melendez buried a three-point shot to beat traditional rival Miami (Fla.) Belen Jesuit School, 57-54, for the exciting win.

After counting down every second left from the 18-second mark, the unnamed announcer on Playbook broadcast keyed in on Melendez who hit the game winner.

When the ball went through the net, the announcer screamed, "Got it!  The Explorers win the basketball game!"

The rousing call was then followed by, "Chris Melendez with a shot from the logo, drains the bucket!  And that's going to end out telecast, folks."

No sooner had the words "folks" came out, the broadcast ended with an audible microphone drop.

Call it a case of pandemonium interruptus.

There was no postgame elaboration of the play or even a few seconds to take in the moment and — considering the dramatic circumstances — just the shortest, sweetest wrap-up in history.

Maybe they didn't pay the electric bill, there were time constraints or the technician had a big date but, 15 seconds after the game ended, those guys were done.
