Revis was cleared to practice on a limited basis Friday, but he won't be prowling the the field on Sunday. In fact, the cornerback won't even be making the trip to Pittsburgh, according to coach Rex Ryan.
It's a tough break for the western Pennsylvania native.
Revis was observed participating in individual drills during the 30-minute window available to the media. It was unclear if he took part in the team drills.
The All-Pro had been held out all week while undergoing mandatory tests after suffering a "mild concussion" when teammate Bart Scott inadvertently kicked Revis in the head during the second half of last week's 48-28 rout of the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium.
All week, Revis left the door open for being well enough to play but, under the NFL's new concussion guidelines, Revis must be cleared by both the team physician and an independent neurologist before he could be cleared to suit up.
Those tests are usually conducted on Wednesday or Thursday, which meant practicing today was an encouraging sign he could possibility play next week against the Miami Dolphins.
Sounds like a case of better safe than sorry.
Kyle Wilson will take Revis' spot in the starting lineup.
