Mark Sanchez tells Jets fans ‘I’ll miss the good times’ via Twitter
The New York Jets and Mark Sanchez finally parted ways on Friday, and the much-maligned quarterback took to Twitter this morning to bid his fans farewell and say he'll "miss the good times we shared."

Marcus Vick gets into Twitter war with PETA over brother Michael
Marcus Vick, the older brother of the New York Jets' newly signed quarterback Michael Vick, is once again making news for the wrong reasons.
Following the Jets' signing of Michael, PETA took the opportunity to send out a tweet reminding the world of the controversial quarterback's infamous dogfighting past. Marcus responded with some choice words of his own directed at the animal rights group..
'y’all still on that bulls–t???? Smh #Peta,' Marcus tweeted back.
Vick, who served 21 months in a federal prison for his involvement in a violent dogfighting ring, was the target of a virtual jab from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in the form of a comment posted on Twitter Saturday afternoon.
At least Michael Vick can't drown, electrocute, hang, or shoot a football the way he terrorized "man’s best friend." #smh #Jets

'At least Michael Vick can’t drown, electrocute, hang, or shoot a football the way he terrorized "man’s best friend." #smh #Jets,” the organization tweeted, after it apparently got word of his new contract in New York.
The Jets signed the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback to a one-year deal Friday, and released Mark Sanchez, the one-time face of the franchise.
The younger Vick — who since being released from prison has been a vocal animal rights advocate — seems more interested in playing football than he does with starting a Twitter war with PETA.
"Anywhere I go, or any team, I'm always going to compete for the No. 1 spot," Vick said last week of his upcoming battle for the starter job with quarterback Geno Smith. "And I will encourage any other quarterback behind me or in front of me to always compete for their job, for the No. 1 spot.
'That's how champions are made."
The 33-year-old Vick, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, was once considered the most dynamic player in the NFL, particularly during his first six NFL seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.

Jets' Eric Decker, Jessie James have baby girl: Report
It's been a week of big news for the Jets new wideout Eric Decker.
Decker — who signed a five-year deal with the Jets on March 12 — and wife Jessie James just welcomed a baby girl, Vivian Rose, into the world Tuesday.
James is a country singer. Both he and the new mom are also star of E!'s reality show "Eric and Jessie: Game On", though the birth wasn't filmed for the show reported E! News.
The NFL star's wife shared an Instagram photo lying in a hospital bed at the start of labor with the caption, "Lots of tears, nerves, smiles and excitement! Just so anxious to meet our baby girl."
The first go-round proved to be a false alarm Friday when James thought the baby was coming.
"Jessie went into the hospital yesterday at 3:30 p.m. and at 5:36 a.m. this morning, Vivianne Rose Decker was born, weighing 8lbs., 2 oz. with a full head of hair!" a rep for the pair told E! News.
"Both mom and daughter are doing well," the rep added.

Eric Decker spotted on flight to Newark for meeting with Jets: Report
Was Eric Decker headed to New Jersey for a visit with the Jets? That certainly seems possible after multiple people tweeted they were with him on a flight to Newark.
By piecing together information from some of their other tweets, it’s apparent that two people at least believe they saw Decker on United flight 1730, which took off from Denver at 5:59 p.m. MT and landed at Newark at 11:17 p.m. ET.
The report was later confirmed by multiple sources.
The last time Decker came to Jersey he all but disappeared during the Super Bowl. But the former Bronco is still one of the top wide receiver free agents on the market and the Jets desperately need to revamp their receiving corps.
And Decker's country singer wife, Jessie James, would be a nice distraction for Gang Green fans.

Rex Ryan wears Dirty Harry T-shirt at Yankees game (PHOTO)
There was definitely a New York Jets aura at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa on Monday.
Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath put on the pinstripes and threw out the first pitch before the spring-training game against the Nationals.
And, as usual, Jets head coach Rex Ryan threw his own fashion sense into the mix.

Sheldon Richardson knew ex-roommate Sam was gay in 2012
In an interview Tuesday with SNY Network's Jeane Coakley, New York Jets defensive tackle and 2013 NFL defensive rookie of the year Sheldon Richardson revealed that he roomed with Michael Sam when the two were teammates at the University of Missouri in 2012 and knew of Sam’s sexual orientation long before he announced publicly Sunday night that he was gay.
Richardson and Sam were teammates at Missouri in 2011 and '12, and while Richardson said Sam never discussed his sexuality with him, he also said he "knew," adding, "You saw him."
According to Richardson, it never mattered.
"Hey, he has his own sexuality. With me living with him, it was a little unusual at first, but it's stuff you look past," said Richardson. "Didn't take nothing from him. He was a great teammate, great person. Everything you wanted out of Michael Sam, you got out of him."
Richardson referred to Sam as "my guy" and "my homeboy."
Coakley interviewed Richardson in Houston, where he's been working out with Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson. She asked Richardson if there was a place for Sam in an NFL locker room.
"Most definitely—unless your team is immature-minded," Richardson said. "If guys can't get past that, man, it's just crazy. Of course it might be just weird at first for you if you're not used to it. Promise you, sexuality has nothing to do with him being on the football field. He's a completely different person, he put this face on, no smiles. He's serious business. He's a killer."
Richardson said Sam did not publicly acknowledge his sexuality in 2012. Sam did tell his Missouri coaches and teammates he was gay last August — before he came out publicly Sunday night.

Witness says Jets' Kellen Winslow Jr. was masturbating in his car: Report
When New York Jets tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana outside a New Jersey Target store back in November, police were called to the scene because a woman thought she saw him masturbating in his vehicle in the parking lot, according to court documents.
The incident report from East Hanover police shows that on Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m., cops responded to a call from a woman who said she had parked her vehicle in a spot to the right of a black Cadillac Escalade outside the Target along Route 10. A man was sitting inside the Escalade with the window open, said the woman, whose name was redacted in the incident report. That man would later be identified as Winslow who lives in nearby Madison, N.J., reported nj.com about the alleged illegal use of hands.
From the report:
As she exited her vehicle, she commented to the male regarding how cold it was. As she stood near the open driver side window of the Escalade, she observed the males [sic] erect penis.
She stated that she believed he was masturbating. [The woman] provided a written statement regarding her account.
By the time police arrived, an officer found Winslow allegedly "slouched in his seat and moving around." Winslow sprang to an upright position when the officer arrived. When the cop asked Winslow what he was doing, Winslow allegedly said he was looking for Boston Market but was lost.
The cop noticed Winslow was wearing "dark colored" sweatpants and wrote that "his genitals were not exposed." But the cop also noticed "two open containers of Vaseline on his center console" and plastic bags marked "Mr. Happy" and empty plastic containers of "Funky Monkey" scattered throughout the vehicle.
Winslow allegedly told police he smoked the "Mr. Happy" and "Funky Monkey" at his home to relax because the NFL doesn't drug test for it, and that he buys the stuff on the Internet and at gas stations. Police say he consented to a vehicle search, and after a few items were seized into evidence, Winslow was free to go.
Lab tests that came back on Dec. 23 revealed Winslow was in possession of synthetic marijuana — a third-degree offense punishable upon conviction by up to 5 years in prison. He was formally charged on Dec. 30, and last week he pleaded not guilty before a judge in Superior Court in Morristown, N.J.
The incident report lists lewdness among the alleged crimes, but Winslow was not charged with anything relating to alleged lewdness, reported nj.com.
The 10-year NFL veteran just finished his first season with the Jets. He is scheduled to be a free agent in 2014.

Geno Smith accused of sending lewd photo to nursing student: Report
New York Jets rookie Geno Smith may have something more in common with former Gang Green quarterback Brett Favre than just calling signals. Namely, sending out out the wrong kind of messages.
Atlanta nursing student Jackie Presley tells the N.Y. Daily News gossip site Confidenti@l that Smith and she began a virtual romance which ended with a frustrating tryst — but not before he sent her images of his penis.
This alleged incident is sort of reminiscent of Favre's sexting scandal when he was accused of sending pictures of his member to former Jets sideline reporter Jenn Sterger.
According to the 25-year-old Presley, her relationship with the 23-year-old Smith started when she realized he was following her on Instagram in December and said hello.
The gossip site wrote:
“As soon I followed him, he wrote under one of my pictures, ‘What’s your.’ And I was like, ‘What’s my what?’ And he put ‘number,’ ” she told Confidenti@l.Presley said she gave Smith her number, and he immediately texted, “Hey, what’s up?”After a bit of small talk, Presley says, Smith texted, insisting that she send him photos of herself. After obliging, Presley decided it was her turn to play offense.“I was like, ‘Send me a penis picture.’ And he was like, “I won’t send it but I’ll show you over Facetime,’ ” Presley claims. “I Facetimed him, and he just showed me.”
Presley claims that she snapped a screenshot of Geno’s junk and — for some undisclosed reason — filed it away for safe keeping.
According to Presley, Smith told her he had a road game against the Carolina Panthers on Dec. 15 and suggested they set up their own private hookup at a Charlotte, N.C., Courtyard by Marriott. She claims they did just that the Saturday before the Panthers trounced the Jets 30-20. Presley says she and Smith hooked up again on Christmas, this time for a home game, but the million-dollar athlete wasn't in a giving mood.
“He paid for me and a driver to come to his (New Jersey) home, which was 50 minutes from New York City, where I was staying,” she said. “I spent the night and everything, and then in the morning the driver wanted $100 to take me back to New York City, and Geno didn’t want to pay it. He just left (to go to work).”
Presley, who—unlike some common groupies — says she later was enraged to learn Smith had a girlfriend, said, “I texted him, ‘You’re such an a——. I can’t believe you did that.’ ”
An angry Presley sent the alleged screenshot of Smith’s privates to BallerAlert.com. The photo and accompanying article have since been removed from the site. She also set up a fake Instagram account in Smith’s name, which was quickly removed.
Accordingly to Presley, Smith texted her, “You made a fake page and now my girl’s seen it.”
Presley says she replied, “F— you, you’re an a——.”
The Jets had no comment.

Woody Johnson emails Jets season ticket holders: 'Rex has more passion than anyone I have ever met.'
The New York Jets 20-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins Sunday did more than end the Fish's playoff hopes and extend Rex Ryan's future in New York, it inspired Woody Johnson to sit at keyboard and screen to wax poetic.
Shortly after the inspirational victory, and after Johnson told a choked up Ryan and Jets players in the locker room that Ryan would be back next season, the owner emailed season ticket holders a letter reiterating his belief in his head coach. Here's the full letter obtained by the N.Y. Daily News:
"Our 2013 season ended earlier today with a victory over the Dolphins. It’s no secret that when this season started many people outside the Jets organization had low expectations for our team. But not us – we set out this year, and every year, with the high expectations of winning games and making Jets Nation proud.
I am writing to you, a valued Jets Partner, today to address 2014 and beyond.
Obviously, one of the first steps in moving forward is making a decision about our Head Coach. I hired Rex Ryan in January of 2009 for many reasons, but one of his strengths really stands out. Rex has more passion than anyone I have ever met. Passion for the Jets. Passion for teaching and motivating his players and coaches. Passion for winning. Like any NFL Head Coach, he’s had ups and downs, but Rex has been a tremendous leader of this football team.
That is why, after today’s game, I informed the team of our carefully-considered decision: Rex Ryan will continue as Head Coach of the New York Jets.
We won three of our last four games, but we're obviously not satisfied with our overall up-and-down 2013 performance. There were many moments, including today, when we showed real signs of progress and reasons for optimism, with a young, talented, competitive, and resilient team. But there were also too many games where we couldn’t sustain that progress. The reality is that we’re not yet the complete and consistent team that you demand and deserve.
We're confident that, with the leadership of General Manager John Idzik, working closely with Rex, we will enter 2014 with great opportunities to improve. We have the resources in place to continue to build our team, including more draft picks and roster flexibility than in previous years. In short, we’re on the right path. We are going to continue to move forward together, always looking to be better and stronger, building on our successes and learning from our failures.
We are focused on fielding a consistently competitive team with the sole mission of winning. We have our work cut out for us, but I know that we have the grit and determination to get the job done. We’ll continue to set high expectations and then work hard to exceed them. And I promise you that not one person in this organization will rest until we meet our ultimate goal of fielding a championship team.
Thank you for your intense loyalty and unyielding support for the Jets."
Now, about that contract extension...

Geno Smith after loss: 'I let Rex down today'
Geno Smith shares a lot of the blame for the New York Jets woes this season but found himself singularly apologizing to his head coach after a key turnover led to yet another loss on Sunday.
Ryan's career with the Jets is hanging on every remaining game this season and the rookie quarterback's playmaking is critical to his coach's survival.
Smith said the Panthers' defense didn't do anything unusual during the play and he took full responsibility for the turnover.
The struggling rookie’s 21st interception of the season was returned 42 yards for a touchdown by Captain Munnerlyn, and helped the Carolina Panthers beat Rex Ryan's Jets 30-20 at Bank of America Stadium.
“I let Rex down today,” Smith said. “He had talked to me about not having a turnover. I wanted to do that today. On one occasion, I got sloppy with it and forced it. I didn’t get it done. Ultimately, in this league, that’s something I’ve learned, that’s what it comes down to — one or two plays here or there.”
Ryan's career with the Jets is hanging on every remaining game this season and the rookie quarterback's playmaking is critical to his coach's survival.
"I just shouldn't have thrown that pass,"said Smith. "Should have checked it down."
Smith’s blown play came with the Jets trailing by 10 and trying to get back in the game. He threw it into double coverage, and helped put the Jets’ already slim playoff hopes in serious jeopardy.
He finished 15-for-28 for167 yards, one touchdown, and that one, costly pick.
Smith has now thrown 21 interceptions this season and is also far and away the lowest-rated quarterback in the league, according to the rankings done by Pro Football Focus.
The Jets (6-8) will be eliminated from playoff contention if Baltimore wins at Detroit on Monday night.
“This one would be Ripley’s if we pull it off,” Ryan said of the team’s playoff hopes.
Or you can expect apologies all around.

Jets still making bucks on Tebow and Revis jerseys
Forget that Darrelle Revis and Tim Tebow haven't played for the New York Jets since last season— make that barely played — the Jets Shop at the team's website still sells their Gang Green jerseys for them both —and at reduced prices!
Pay no mind to the fact that neither of those guys —also Shaun Ellis and Bart Scott — is still on the Jets roster, their jerseys still are. But, if you want a Jets jersey for some Jets stars actually playing on the team, you can forget about it. Let's say your Christmas gift list calls for a Muhammad Wilkerson or Sheldon Richardson, well, you're out of luck.

Ed Reed offers $20K reward for turnovers on 'Wanted' T-shirts
The takeaway-starved New York Jets are apparently trying to buy their fumbles and INTs against the Baltimore Ravens this week.
Two members of the defensive secondary, Antonio Cromartie and Ed Reed, showed up Thursday in the team's locker room wearing identical black T-shirts that featured an old Western "Wanted" poster on the front.
The shirt includes a picture of a football and the words: "WANTED: In the air or on the ground. $20,000."
In the post-BountyGate NFL, the Wild West-style incentive may cause a ruckus but Cromartie said he got the shirt from Reed, who told reporters: "No, I'm not offering 20 grand for a turnover. I like how you tried to work that. It's a shirt, man. I like how you did that. It's funny how you guys twist our words."
The Jets are 28th in interceptions and 30th in the league in fumble recoveries. Overall, the Jets and the San Diego Chargers are tied for last in the NFL with seven takeaways this season — not something most expected from a team led by the defensive-minded head coach Rex Ryan.
Hopefully, Roger Goodell won't go all Wyatt Earp on the guys.
100-yard long American flag rips in half during opening ceremony (VIDEO)
During the opening ceremony of the Bills-Jets game on Sunday, a giant, 100-yard long American flag ripped into two halves during the national anthem.
The hilarious moment was captured on camera by someone in the crowd (who can be heard laughing out loud in the video).
It was a rough day all around at Ralph Wilson Stadium. During the second quarter of the game, a fan fell from an upper tier railing on top of another man in the section below.

Bills fan who fell from upper deck fired from job: Report
On Sunday during the Jets-Bills game, a man identified as Rob Hopkins thought it would be a brilliant idea to slide down the rail along the edge of the upper deck of Ralph Wilson Stadium only to lose his balance and fall to the seats below. Amazingly, he came away with only a shoulder injury, but Hopkins landed on another man who sustained a head injury.
Monday, the Bills officially banned Hopkins from ever returning to the stadium, and by Tuesday Hopkins had lost his job at Eric Mower and Associates, according to WKBW.
"EMA is very concerned about Sunday's incident at the Buffalo Bills' game and we are relieved that the injured were released from the hospital," the company said in a statement.
"Rob Hopkins is no longer employed by EMA."
Law enforcement sources told WKBW that Hopkins could also face criminal charges for the bone-headed stunt.

Letter containing Tim Tebow photo and white powder shuts down NJ city hall building
A letter addressed to the mayor of Jersey City containing some white powder — and a picture of former New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow — caused the evacuation of the City Hall building Monday. Although the powder proved to be harmless, it was clearly meant to look like a chemical or biological threat, said authorities.
Jersey City Public Safety Director James Shea said the letter was addressed to “Steven Fulop, family and friends.” When it was opened by a mayor’s aide at 2:15 p.m. Monday, a small amount of white powder fell out.
A source said the letter contained “spiritual stuff. Heaven stuff. A picture of Tebow.”
The aide who opened the letter immediately called police and soon after city hall was surrounded by police and fire departments, the bomb squad, a hazmat team and ambulances. According to Jersey City Public Safety Director James Shea, those in the room in which the envelope was opened were quarantined while the rest of the building was evacuated.
Ultimately, the powder turned out to be harmless and the return address on the envelope was a fake. The mayor was not in his office when the envelope was opened.
The incident is still under investigation.

Tim Tebow billboard pops up in Jacksonville (Photo)
It's hard to recall any athlete who has done so much for the billboard business as Tim Tebow — or for outdoor ad space in general.
The Wildcat quarterback had billboards in Denver and once even had a huge Jockey underwear ad hovering outside the Lincoln Tunnel when he was a Jet.
Can't Khan take a hint? Or does he have a stake in the outdoor advertising business.
The Wildcat quarterback had billboards in Denver and once even had a huge Jockey underwear ad hovering outside the Lincoln Tunnel when he was a Jet.
Now, as you can see in the photo below, fans are now buying billboards and making crazy promises to fill EverBank Field if Jaguars owner Shad Khan will sign Tebow.
This isn't the first time this season that 'Sign Tebow' propaganda has been seen in Jacksonville. During a Week 4 home game, a banner was flown over EverBank Field encouraging the team to sign Tebow.
Can't Khan take a hint? Or does he have a stake in the outdoor advertising business.

Pacman Jones threatens Jets' David Nelson: 'I'm going to find out where you live': source
Hot-headed Cincinnati Bengals’ cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones may have crossed the line with a threat to wide receiver David Nelson during the Jets’ 49-9 loss on Sunday.
Jones, who has a long list of legal trouble during his NFL career, made it clear that Nelson would face repercussions for what he perceived as dirty play even if it meant taking matters into his own hands off the field, a source told the New York Daily News.
"I’m going to find out where you live and come and get you," Jones told Nelson, according to a source."
Jones admitted to the Bengals’ website that he jawed with Rex Ryan in the second half.
"He told me to shut the hell up," claimed Jones.
Jones, who had a pick-six in the second half, wasn’t thrilled with what he perceived as cheap shots from Nelson, who was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty on the last play of the third quarter.
"(Nelson) was playing dirty," Jones told the team’s website, Bengals.com. "He cut me like four times after the play. Thank God I took my medicine today - I guess - and I didn't go off. Hopefully, he'll get fined. At least three fines. There were three real cheap shots after the play."
The combustible Jones is no stranger to violence off the field. In October, he was found not guilty of assaulting a woman and received a citation for disorderly conduct during a police stop this summer. Jones was ordered to pay $11 million for his involvement in a shooting outside a Las Vegas nightclub in 2007.
Nelson, who was signed by the Jets a few weeks ago, had team highs in receptions (eight) and yards (80) in the loss.
Antonio Cromartie’s wife goes off on Jets defense via Twitter
While the New York Jets were getting crushed by the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, it was Antonio Cromartie’s wife who took things into her own hands during the game — well, at least into her thumbs via Twitter.
“Let’s regroup and have a better game next week.. I think what’s sad is I know how good our team is and sometime it fails to show”
Terricka Cason, “Lady Cro” on Twitter (@iluvTERRICKA) tweeted about Andy Dalton’s big game: “Dalton making this s--- look like pop warner” as she gave a running commentary about the Jets poor defense.
Dalton had a huge game in the Bengals’ 49-9 win over Gang Green on Sunday. He burned Cromartie and the Jets secondary for 325 yards and five touchdowns. Four of them to receiver Marvin Jones.
Cromartie’s better half, who describes herself as “E! CandY Girl, Actress, Model, Dancer, Host” in her Twitter bio, showed much more fight than the Jets, even after seeing some negative response from some users. Her tweets included:
“This Is just embarrassing the whole team failed to show up today.”
“We have to keep our game consistent and jump off this up And down roller coaster.”
After some followers criticized her tweets, Cason brought out her own D:
"I guess cause ima wife I'm not suppose 2comment on a Game... That will never happen.. I was raised in this game uncles played pro, cousins 2"After some followers criticized her tweets, Cason brought out her own D:

Jets owner praises Rex Ryan, won't discuss future with team
Woody Johnson admitted he is 'happy' with the job Rex Ryan has done with the Jets surprising 4-and-3 start, but the owner still refuses to make any commitment on Ryan's future with the club past this season.
“I will make a statement after the season,” Johnson said Thursday. “I never make any comments regarding contracts during the season.”
“I will make a statement after the season,” Johnson said Thursday. “I never make any comments regarding contracts during the season.”
Last week's dramatic victory over the Patriots showed that Ryan can still coach but, maybe more noticeable was his back-and-forth with Bill Belichick this week over The Push which showed that Ryan still has the fire in his trimmed-down belly.
“We’re happy with Rex,” Johnson said. “Coaches have to be good teachers and good leaders and I think he’s both.”
The Jets meet the playoff-caliber Bengals and Saints the next two games leading into their bye week, so Johnson will probably have a clear picture where the team is headed by then. But, however successful, there will still be seven games left to self-destruct after that.
Ryan insists he isn't looking that far ahead but appreciates his boss' support after last year's Butt Fumble of a season.
“I like the fact that my boss said some nice things about me,” he said. “I said it before, it’s not about me. Right now, it means nothing to me other than the fact that he had some nice comments to say. My situation is the Cincinnati Bengals. That’s where my attention is.”
Ryan’s contract, at about $3 million per year, runs through 2014. Teams generally don’t let coaches go into the last year of their deals — they either get fired or extended.
Is Johnson anticipating an extension of Ryan's contract?
"I don’t make any statements like that," he said. "The only thing I’ll say is I’m happy with him. I think he’s a great teacher, a good teacher, maybe a great teacher, and a good leader... That's what we hired him to be. We're happy with that."

Rex Ryan wore 'I'd Hit That' T-shirt with Jets fan who punched female Patriots fan (PHOTO)
A photo of Rex Ryan — wearing a T-shirt that reads "I'd Hit That" — has turned up showing the New York Jets head coach standing next to Kurt Paschke, the man accused of slugging New England Patriots fan Jaclyn Nugent at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
Ryan wore the gray tee emblazoned with a baseball and "I'd Hit That" when he visited the customized green-and-white van that Paschke uses to get to MetLife Stadium for Jets games. The super-sized van had become a familiar sight in the stadium parking lot.
The bizarre photo of the fan-friendly Ryan palling around with Paschke — a convicted killer and suspected woman beater — surfaced a day after Paschke's dark past was revealed.

His family insists Paschke was just defending his mom from Nugent and her group of friends as they left the stadium.
So far neither Ryan nor Jets brass have commented about Paschke.
