Giants and Jets Will Have Neutral End Zones This Weekend At MetLife Stadium

The New York Giants and New York Jets both play games in the Meadowlands this weekend and the scheduling congestion has created a problem regarding which team logo should be painted in the end zones.

The Giants kick off early Sunday afternoon while the Jets have a Saturday night game which will force MetLife Stadium to have neutral end zones with no team names for both games for the first time ever.

Although the Meadowlands facility has had quick turnarounds on events before, this one is uniquely challenging.

“We are always prepared to host two consecutive football games, whether college or NFL,” said Ron VanDeVeen, president and CEO of MetLife Stadium.

“However, due to the timing of Saturday’s 8:25 p.m. New York Jets game followed by Sunday’s 1 p.m. New York Giants game, coupled with the current weather forecast, the decision was made to use neutral end zones for this weekend’s contests. This decision will allow for appropriate maintenance of the playing surface throughout the weekend.”

For the Giants and Jets, who are the only NFL franchises sharing a stadium, the problem starts with both of them not even playing in New York. And for those of us who still call it "Giants Stadium," putting "New Jersey" on both end zones might be the permanent solution.

Antonio Cromartie and wife expecting twins despite having vasectomy

Antonio Cromartie will soon have enough children for his own defense and a benchwarmer to boot, after the New York Jets star's wife Terricka announced she is pregnant with twins.

Making the announcement even more amazing for the father of 10 is the fact that the 31-year-old cornerback had a vasectomy.

Cromartie's 31-year-old wife confirmed the news to Us Weekly now that they have finally gotten over the surprise.

Terricka first became aware she was pregnant when she was admitted to hospital with what she thought was bad cramps. She told the magazine she was in the emergency room on October when she found out she was pregnant again.

"I really thought I was dreaming, even after, I was just in total disbelief.

"I didn't even tell Antonio right away because I didn't think it was possible. Was going back and forth in my head how it could even happen.

"In my head we were good to go, we were having free sex! I just really thought that his procedure was the best protection you could have at this point."

The snipped cornerback was completely caught off guard when his wife revealed the news.

"Originally, he was like, 'Oh, s**t! Are you serious? How did this happen?'

"It was shocking news for the both of us. It took me a while to process it, but Antonio stood firm and was saying, ''It's God's will.'' And he's been excited the whole time."

The Jets player and Terricka share a daughter Jurzie, 5, and son Jagger, 3, but Cromartie also has a brood of eight other children from previous relationships.

Terricka also has a daughter from a previous relationship.

He has previously been criticized for the amount of children he has and his wife of seven years told the magazine she thought about hiding her pregnancy because she wanted the twins to be more than a number.

"To be honest, I've gone back and forth about if I wanted to share the news or not," she said.

"All my children are blessings and all of Antonio's children are blessings, for that matter. It was made to seem that my children weren't a blessing because they were categorized by a number, and for that reason and that reason alone, I hid both of my [first two] pregnancies with my husband, just so I could enjoy them with those who were really happy for me."

The model said she plans to ensure there are no more blessings for her family by getting her tubes tied.

Cromartie signed a huge $32 million contract with the Jets earlier this year and reportedly pays over $3,500 a month in child support per child expect for the two with Terricka and also to the mother of oldest son Alonzo.

The oldest boy lived with the football star's mother hence the exception, however, according to the New York Post the boy's mom is fighting for support and custody.

According to Us Weekly, the couple are now working on a book about blended families, as well as a new reality show.

Plenty of painful and embarrassing mishaps at Jets-Bills game (VIDEO)

Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills may have destroyed the New York Jets playoff dreams on Sunday, but it didn't come without a couple of painful and embarrassing mishaps on the Bills side.

After missing yet another extra-point attempt this season, Bills kicker Dan Carpenter took out his frustration on his helmet and the brain bucket responded in like:

That embarrassing sequence of events was only part of The Rise of the Inanimate Objects. Earlier in the day, this Bills fan got tough with a table but didn't realize the four-legged fireball would also exact revenge:

Brandon Marshall's wife has response to Cullen Jenkins' 'girl' insult during Jets-Giants game

Cullen Jenkins got a little up-close-and-personal — maybe too personal — with Brandon Marshall during the Jets-Giants game on Sunday.

You remember, Marshall said he got into it with Jenkins because Jenkins "disrespected" Marshall's wife with a comment he made as the halftime buzzer sounded at MetLife Stadium.

“Some things are off-limits, and he made a comment,” Marshall said. “He said my ‘girl.’ He didn’t know I was married. I don’t care. There’s not enough money on this earth for someone to disrespect my wife.”

Well, on Tuesday night's episode of Showtime's "Inside the NFL," Marshall's wife, Michi, got a chance to respond to Jenkins and praise how her husband rushed to her defense. Michi was a guest on the show, which has Marshall as a regular panelist.

"Well, I didn't know what happened until afterward," she said. "Even the next day, I got a text [regarding Marshall confronting Jenkins] that said, 'Oh, it's so sweet.' It's like: What happened? But I will say, chivalry is not dead, and I'm happy about that. But because it wasn't a detriment to the team, I'm OK with it."

She was probably referring to the fact that Marshall wasn't penalized for the verbal exchange on this play:

Marshall also spoke about the incident again during the show.

"Hey, crime of passion, man," he said. "Listen, there are some things that are off limits on the football field. And I think talking about guys' kids and wives is off limits. But I have to say, Cullen Jenkins is a stand-up guy. He not only apologized during the game, but he called me [Monday] and also apologized again."

Chivalrous and forgiving. What a guy.

Antonio Cromartie's wife gets in nasty Twitter war with Jets fans

While her husband Antonio Cromartie was battling on the field against the Texans Sunday, the Jets cornerback's wife, Terricka, was having her own little war with Jets fans on her Twitter account.

Most of the tweets started early in the second half and got increasingly more vile. Many of them were insults about the number of children her husband has and the number of women he has had them with.

“I’ll Knock ur husbands teeth out one shot, u him and the 9 filth kids can meet me anytime,” one person tweeted at her.

The cornerback's wife kept firing back:

The back-and-forth went on until her responses to the trolls turned downright venomous.

“Yo mama a Thot (sic) she should of aborted your ugly ass,” she wrote back at one person.

She later deleted several of her tweets during the game.

But when one fan asks her about the Patriots’ fan base, she responded, “at this point compared to the s–t we get [Patriots fans are] Amazing and Loyal.”

“To Sum it all up the Jets Fan Base ain’t s–t Period,” she wrote.

Cromartie didn’t fare well in the Jets’ 24-17 loss, and refused to speak to the media after the game.

But he had plenty to say to the Jets fans.

“At the end of the day my wife nor my kids r on the field so shld never b disrespected by our own fan base like this,” Cromartie tweeted after the game, along with a screenshot of some of the vulgar tweets directed at his wife.

Social media at its worst.

NFL will run colorblindness analysis on new ‘Color Rush’ uniforms

The NFL will be taking a second look at the "Color Rush" uniforms that caused problems for fans who had difficulty distinguishing between the all-red Buffalo Bills and all-green New York Jets on Thursday night.

And especially for the color-challenged ones.

League spokesman Brian McCarthy said the NFL intends to incorporate a colorblindness test when designing its "Color Rush" alternate jerseys for next season.

"The standard television test did not account for colorblindness for fans at home that became apparent last night," McCarthy wrote in an email to The Associated Press. "We will enhance our testing to include a colorblindness analysis to better address this issue in the future."

McCarthy was responding to concerns raised by colorblind fans who couldn't tell which team was which during Buffalo's 22-17 win over the Jets — not to mention the ridicule the uniforms took via social media.

Coincidentally, various studies have found that red-green color blindness is the most prevalent and affects 10 million to 13 million Americans, most of them males.

The game was the first of four on Thursday night this season in which teams will wear the alternate uniforms.

Next week, the Tennessee Titans will wear all blue in facing the bold-gold-colored Jacksonville Jaguars. The other games will feature Carolina (Panthers blue) at Dallas (white) on Nov. 26; and Tampa Bay (red) at St. Louis (yellow gold) on Dec. 17.

The promotion will expand next season, when every team will wear the alternate uniforms on Thursday nights.

Let the Week 11 comparisons begin:

Rex Ryan compares Bills win over Jets to moving on from 'some girl you had the hots for' (VIDEO)

Rex Ryan’s bittersweet return to MetLife Stadium on Thursday night, the place he called home for six years as coach of the New York Jets, ended in victory after Ryan and his Buffalo Bills edged his former team 22-17.

After the game, where the Bills almost blew a 22-3 third quarter lead, Ryan was asked what emotions he felt after the triumphant return to the Meadowlands.

“It’s kinda like being dumped by some girl that you had the hots for,” Ryan said in front of a standing-room-only postgame crowd. “Hey, you move on, and every now and then they call you back – they can’t get you back.”

Ryan's humorless tone indicated that Ryan had, in fact, been dumped by the girl he had the hots for and his infatuation with the Jets way more serious than anyone knew.

Quite a change from the dance moves he showed on the sidelines.

Don't worry coach. I don't think that girl is ever calling you back now.

Jets, Bills will wear one-color uniforms Thursday as part of NFL's 'Color Rush' (PHOTOS)

As if hanging holiday displays in stores the day after Halloween wasn't enough, it looks Christmas decorations will come way too early for fans at MetLife Stadium on Nov. 12 when the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets meet on Thursday Night Football in Week 10 in the Meadowlands.

That's because the NFL is promoting its color-on-color campaign titled “Color Rush” which will have the Bills wearing all red and the Jets wearing all green — in what should look like life-sized Christmas bulbs blinking all over the field.

The Jets tweeted out this image of the new uni before the Internet memes took over.

Meanwhile, the the Bills' head-to-toe scarlet red didn't escape the trolling either:

I guess re-gifting Rex Ryan to Jets fans wasn't a good enough present from the NFL.

Merry Christmas.

Eagles’ Byron Maxwell says growing up in the South prepared him for criticism

Last offseason, cornerback Byron Maxwell spread his wings and flew from Seattle to Philadelphia and signed a $63 million contract to huddle with a new flock of birds.

But as the Eagles' new corner prepares to try to cover Jets receiver Brandon Marshall this week at MetLife Stadium, Maxwell was flapping more than his feathers about his chilly reception in Philly after two games.

“I feel it. They’re cold on me,” Maxwell told the New York Daily News. “That’s fine. Everybody’s got their opinion.”

The City of Brotherly Love is a tough place to play when things go bad, but Maxwell, who hails from South Carolina, isn't fazed by the negativity. After all, he is from the land that's more than just y'alls and pecan pie.

“Everything’s in your face in the South,” said Maxwell. “That’s how it is in the South. They got Confederate flags running around. . . . I’m just saying. You’re used to sh-t. You grow up with a thick skin in the South.”

He may need skin thicker than a hog's hide if he continues to get burned by quarterbacks who have feasted on his neck of the playing field.

“That’s part of being the guy with the big contract and being the big free agent coming in,” Maxwell said. “I haven’t performed up to it, but it’s a new week against the Jets. I get to play again.”

Let's see what those Yankees Jets think about that.

Antonio Cromartie's wife says she was pulled over for 'Driving while Black' in wealthy NJ town (VIDEO)

The wife of New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie, Terricka Cromartie, was reportedly pulled over by a policeman in an upper-middle class New Jersey town and took to Instagram Friday morning to express her displeasure about what she claims is racial profiling.

The Jets summer training camp is in nearby Florham Park.

The caption of her post read: "When you get pulled over for driving Black in Madison.. Why are you in Madison??? What did I do officer. Roll your windows Down.. SmDH. FYI I was pulled over for no reason, just to ask me to roll my windows, and why am I in Madison. Like how you don't know I live here. What am I doing in Madison is freaking 11:30a.m."

She also posted another Instagram message, with the caption: "Driving while Black... I'm thankful to be able to even make this message so many weren't as luck. But how do you deal with a police office who is simply just harassing you."

A composed, but visibly frustrated Cromartie captured video from a portion of the traffic stop — after questioning the officer and not getting an answer why she was pulled over. You can watch it below:

At this point, the officer presumably returned to his vehicle, wrote NJ.com. But it is still unclear what the outcome of the traffic stop was, why Cromartie was pulled over or when the stop in the wealthy enclave of Madison took place.

Cromartie said this in a separate video message: "So apparently, you can't be black, you can't drive a nice car in Madison, at 11:30 in the morning. I mean, who cares if you just came from the nail shop, you didn't get a ticket, the police let you go and say, 'have a nice day,' like that's OK?"

Matt Flynn gets cut by Jets, heads to nearest bar (PHOTO)

Losing a job is never easy and one carefree way to cope with the letdown of being let go is with a nice stiff drink.

And after the Jets released  Matt Flynn on Saturday morning, it looked like he made a beeline to the nearest drinking establishment he could find. Although this scrumptious Bloody Mary looks like it could be called a liquid lunch.
But don't worry about Flynn. This is a guy who's made $19 million in his career even though he's only started seven career games.

The real question is what watering hole Tim Tebow ended up at.

Odell Beckham Jr. gets crowd's approval for 'almost' making another one-handed catch (VIDEO)

Odell Beckham Jr. almost broke the Internet again after almost making another sensational one-handed catch during a preseason game Saturday night.

In the second quarter of of the "Snoopy Bowl" between the New York Giants and the New York Jets, OBJ almost came down with a gravity-defying, one-handed grab by the sideline.

And it has to come to the point these days where the Giants' star receiver now gets roaring cheers even for near-misses — although he did almost make the catch over all-world cornerback Darelle Revis.

Unfortunately, on this one, OBJ had one foot out of bounds. But the Giants fans didn't mind.
Sounds like almost does count in Giants football.

Jets' Nick Mangold helped police nab car burglary ring: Report

A group of teenage car burglars learned what NFL defensive lineman have known for years — don't mess with Nick Mangold.

The New York Jets All-Pro center heard his car alarm go off on Sunday morning while at his home in Chatham, N.J., and when he went to check it out, he found the vehicle's door was ajar. Mangold then picked up his phone and dialed 911 to report the suspicious activity, according to TMZ.

TMZ detailed the arrest:

"Cops rushed to the 'hood and tracked down 5 suspects, just one mile from Mangold's crib. An 18 and a 19-year-old were arrested, along with 3 juveniles. ... We're told there's been a string of more than 40 car burglaries in the area recently!"

Knowing that the "hood" happens to be an upscale, tree-lined suburb filled with million-dollar "cribs" doesn't take anything away from Mangold's assist in the collar.

Earlier in the week, NJ Advance Media reported that five teens were charged "in connection with more than two dozen car burglaries that were reported over the weekend in one Chatham Borough neighborhood,"

The total amount of property reported stolen was roughly $40 in change and small bills, three wallets, and a tool set valued at $75, police said.

Well done Nick. Now go out and protect your quarterback — starting in the locker room.

IK Enemkpali once punched a ‘man he thought was a woman’: Report

Two weeks after Ikemefuna Enemkpali was released by the New York Jets for punching out  his then-quarterback Geno Smith in a locker room incident, the outside linebacker's fists are in the news again — this time because of a catfishing incident first reported by ESPN.

According to an "Outside the Lines" report, Enemkpali missed Louisiana Tech's season opener in 2011 because he had injured his hand after punching "a man he thought was a woman with whom he had arranged to have sex."

ESPN cited an obtained copy of a police report which said Enemkpali began exchanging Facebook messages with a "Missy Lee" on Sept. 1, 2011. But after meeting "Missy Lee" in person, he realized the individual — who had been "covered head-to-toe in a blanket" — also had "facial hair."
According to ESPN, the police report states that Enemkpali "felt that he was being 'set up' for a robbery of some type. Enemkpali stated that fearing for his safety, he then struck the subject in the blanket. Enemkpali stated that after he struck this person, their voice changed to that of a male. Enemkpali stated that he then left the residence through the window."
He also reportedly told police that he began receiving texts in which "Missy Lee" accused him of "punching her and knocking out her teeth" and also threatened "U are going to jail." Enemkpali reportedly offered $500, but "'Missy Lee' demanded $1,000 or the police would be called."

Police later traced the phone number to a man named Ketryn Anderson, who, according to his Facebook page, is a "senior pastor and founder of Life Community Church" in Shreveport, Louisiana,  according to ESPN.

Enemkpali off-the-field issues kept NFL teams away during the 2014 draft process and, before the start of the 2011 season, he reportedly was suspended after he hit an off-duty officer. He was charged with disturbing the peace and battery of a police officer, but was reinstated by the team and played in the 2011 season.

The Jets still decided to take a gamble and former Jets general manager John Idzik drafted the Louisiana Tech product in the sixth round.

After Smith suffered a broken jaw in the altercation with Enemkpali,  the 24-year-old linebacker was claimed off waivers by former Jets coach Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said Wednesday that "the matter remains under review."

Geno Smith won’t be on sideline for Jets home game against Falcons: Report

Geno Smith was at the Jets' facility Wednesday morning for meetings, but he was not at practice and he will not be on the sideline Friday night when the Jets host the Falcons in a preseason game.

"If he's healthy, he'll be on the sideline," head coach Todd Bowles said of Smith, the Jets quarterback who's out with a broken jaw sustained last week after being punched by then-teammate IK Enemkpali.

"All the injured players won't be on the sideline," Bowles said. "That's just policy. We've got too many guys right now. We've already got 90 guys in camp. Everybody's in the way. If you're a gunner on the punt team and you get pushed into the sideline, if somebody can't get out of the way, they're going to get hurt."

Odd because Muhammad Wilkerson was on the sideline while nursing a hamstring for last week's away game against the Lions. But Bowles said that was because Wilkerson had made the trip to Detroit and was a game-time decision.

"He will be not be on the sideline this week," Bowles said of Wilkerson's status for this week's home game.

Smith is expected to be out another five to nine weeks. He's had plates and screws inserted into his jaw to stabilize it. The Jets will have to hold a roster spot for him once the regular season begins, but they did add Matt Flynn to be Smith's replacement behind Ryan Fitzpatrick, who's now the starter.
Bowles said Smith's presence at the facility on a full-time basis going forward will depend on Smith's health.

"As he gets better, the longer he can stay out, the more he'll be here," Bowles said.

It's not MetLife Stadium but ... there's always that parking lot to chuck the ball around on.

Chris Johnson shares photo of gunshot wound on Instagram (GRAPHIC PHOTO)

Chris Johnson has finally found a new place to call home. And, after a tumultuous offseason, the troubled running back signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals on Monday.

Following a disappointing season with the Jets, Johnson was a free agent after New York declined to pick up its option on the running back in February — but that was far from the worst part of his offseason.

In March, while still technically a member of the Jets, the running back was shot and wounded in a drive-by shooting in Orlando that killed the driver of the car Johnson was in and wounded another passenger. He was photographed days later with his arm in a sling.

Here's Johnson sharing the grisly result of that incident via Instagram:

Two months before being shot, Johnson was arrested for openly carrying firearms for having two guns in his car in Florida.

The former NFL star had to recover from the injury during the offseason in addition to looking for a new team. And that was no easy task for Johnson — whose production has dwindled since being a top-notch back just a few years ago.

The one-year contract with the Cardinals is reportedly for $870,000 with no signing bonus.

That should be enough for some bulletproof essentials.

First look at swollen-faced Geno Smith after sucker-punch surgery (PHOTOS)

Jets quarterback Geno Smith is already out-and-about following surgery on his jaw after getting sucker-punched by ex-teammate  IK Enemkpali last week.

His cheeks swollen, Smith was spotted at his apartment complex in Whippany N.J. where New York Post photographers found him playing catch outside with a "buddy."

The Post managed to snap off a couple of photos of Smith's puffed face, and to get a couple of quotes from him:
"I feel great. You see me throwin', right?" he said, his speech slightly slurred by the swelling.
Smith was shirtless and strangely wearing eye-black tape during the casual toss and had a message to Jets fans regarding his six to 10-week layoff: "Get ready for me to come back."

But head coach Todd Bowles may have wished they did wire Smith's jaw shut. Bowles said Smith's job as the Jets' starting quarterback will not be guaranteed upon his return.

Or will his teammates' respect.

After Enemkpali, a sixth-round draft pick last year punched out Smith, he was immediately released and later signed by the Bills. And while keeping virtually silent about their signal caller, Jets players have reportedly been phoning linebacker Enemkpali with support.

Geno Smith on fans' boos at MetLife Stadium: "You'd think we were on the road"

If anything was proved in the New York Jets' Green and White practice Saturday night, it's that no matter where Geno Smith plays, Jets fans will still not be patient with the erratic signal caller.

Even though the Jets traded for veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, the team is still counting on Smith to be their opening-day starter — even if the decision hasn't been announced yet.

Smith has been sharp through nine practices, drawing a positive reaction from the fans who have watched practices at the team's facility in Florham Park, New Jersey. But the mood changed when they traveled 30 miles to their regular season home at MetLife Stadium.

Smith found that out on his second series in 11-on-11 drills when he was sacked, fumbled the ball and heard a smattering of boos from the more than 10,000 fans who showed up in the Meadowlands.

And how did he react to the boos Saturday night?
"Man, I had a smile on my face,'' he said. "The camera should have zoomed in on me -- I had a big smile on my face. You'd think we were on the road today.''
It was hardly the first time Geno Smith has been booed at MetLife Stadium, but the Jets quarterback said he's confident he'll turn those jeers into cheers, "I know how to handle it now."

And he got a chance to prove it. The boos got a little louder on Smith's next series when he was nearly was intercepted by Antonio Cromartie, who had tight coverage on Brandon Marshall, and then missed Marshall badly on the next throw.
After redeeming himself with a 35-yard TD pass to Marshall, the fans were cheering.

"We did it tonight, and hopefully they're a little bit more patient during the season,'' Smith said after the offense's 35-0 win over the defense. "It's a four-quarter game, and the only thing that matters is we win the game. You've just got to understand that fans are going to be fans, and you don't want to put too much emphasis on that. I don't worry about it. I think it's more important for my teammates to see how I react to it more than anything.''

Smith said the boo birds still have to give him a chance.

"Hopefully," he said, "they're a little more patient during the season."

Patriots fan fires back at Jets, Goodell by flying banner of his own (PHOTO)

And the AFC East banner wars begin.

A Maine man countered the New York Jets group who flew a "Cheaters Look Up!" banner over the New England Patriots training camp last week, by hiring a plane to fly a banner over NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s vacation home in Scarborough with the message "Comm. Goodell Jet Home To N.Y."

Richard Pate of Biddeford, Maine, wouldn't say how much it cost, but insisted it was worth every penny to poke Goodell after he gave Brady a four-game suspension.

And take a jab at the Jets banner as well.

"I went over to [a pilot] and asked if he'd be willing to fly a banner, and he was more than happy to ..." Pate told WCSH6. "You know, the irony is I don't remember the Jets winning many Super Bowls, maybe one back in the 60s."

While Goodell's home is under police surveillance, Pate said he hopes to fly the banner again on Sunday or Monday.

NYPD hunting three men in Jets jerseys for wild St. Patty's Day brawl (VIDEO)

Three men wearing New York Jets jerseys are wanted for attacking two teens during a St. Patty’s Day brawl outside of a Midtown Manhattan pub before taking it on the lam.

The three men, wearing green and white Gang Green jerseys with the numbers 12, 87, and 23, got into a verbal argument inside of O’Brien’s Irish Bar and Restaurant on W. 46th St., according to officials from the NYPD. The arguments quickly turned violent in the street outside of the bar, as the two teenagers were punched and kickedby the attackers and beaten with bottles.

Pix11 reported reported that the two teens were transported to Bellevue Hospital with facial fractures after the pummeling.

NYPD released photos of the three attackers on Thursday.

One of the teens is left lying in the middle of the street after the attack, according to a video of the brawl, which was posted on Facebook by Anthony Rooar Decarlis.

B-E-E-R! Beer! Beer! Beer!
