Brandon Marshall's wife has response to Cullen Jenkins' 'girl' insult during Jets-Giants game

Cullen Jenkins got a little up-close-and-personal — maybe too personal — with Brandon Marshall during the Jets-Giants game on Sunday.

You remember, Marshall said he got into it with Jenkins because Jenkins "disrespected" Marshall's wife with a comment he made as the halftime buzzer sounded at MetLife Stadium.

“Some things are off-limits, and he made a comment,” Marshall said. “He said my ‘girl.’ He didn’t know I was married. I don’t care. There’s not enough money on this earth for someone to disrespect my wife.”

Well, on Tuesday night's episode of Showtime's "Inside the NFL," Marshall's wife, Michi, got a chance to respond to Jenkins and praise how her husband rushed to her defense. Michi was a guest on the show, which has Marshall as a regular panelist.

"Well, I didn't know what happened until afterward," she said. "Even the next day, I got a text [regarding Marshall confronting Jenkins] that said, 'Oh, it's so sweet.' It's like: What happened? But I will say, chivalry is not dead, and I'm happy about that. But because it wasn't a detriment to the team, I'm OK with it."

She was probably referring to the fact that Marshall wasn't penalized for the verbal exchange on this play:

Marshall also spoke about the incident again during the show.

"Hey, crime of passion, man," he said. "Listen, there are some things that are off limits on the football field. And I think talking about guys' kids and wives is off limits. But I have to say, Cullen Jenkins is a stand-up guy. He not only apologized during the game, but he called me [Monday] and also apologized again."

Chivalrous and forgiving. What a guy.

Eagles’ Byron Maxwell says growing up in the South prepared him for criticism

Last offseason, cornerback Byron Maxwell spread his wings and flew from Seattle to Philadelphia and signed a $63 million contract to huddle with a new flock of birds.

But as the Eagles' new corner prepares to try to cover Jets receiver Brandon Marshall this week at MetLife Stadium, Maxwell was flapping more than his feathers about his chilly reception in Philly after two games.

“I feel it. They’re cold on me,” Maxwell told the New York Daily News. “That’s fine. Everybody’s got their opinion.”

The City of Brotherly Love is a tough place to play when things go bad, but Maxwell, who hails from South Carolina, isn't fazed by the negativity. After all, he is from the land that's more than just y'alls and pecan pie.

“Everything’s in your face in the South,” said Maxwell. “That’s how it is in the South. They got Confederate flags running around. . . . I’m just saying. You’re used to sh-t. You grow up with a thick skin in the South.”

He may need skin thicker than a hog's hide if he continues to get burned by quarterbacks who have feasted on his neck of the playing field.

“That’s part of being the guy with the big contract and being the big free agent coming in,” Maxwell said. “I haven’t performed up to it, but it’s a new week against the Jets. I get to play again.”

Let's see what those Yankees Jets think about that.

Brandon Marshall says NFL players use Viagra to get edge on field

Brandon Marshall knows the lengths NFL players will go to get an edge on the field but on Wednesday —  after the Chicago Bears wide receiver was asked about the rash of Adderall-related suspensions in the league this season — he said he's heard plenty of rumors about which supplements some players take to boost their performances during game time.  Some of which are of the little blue variety.

Marshall managed to keep a somewhat straight face while using the double entendre of his "blessed with size" remark, but did not say if using the little blue pill came with a stiff penalty from the NFL.

Experts aren't so sure about the effects of Viagra (sildenafil citrate) on athletic performance on the football field or even if the results could be proven otherwise. The only thing they can confirm is that pro athletes are always looking for an advantage against their opponents.

A 2008 study — funded by the World Anti-Doping Agency — tested several members of a Marywood University lacrosse team and concluded that the drug increased blood flow to certain parts of the body but found insufficient evidence that it worked on muscles used on the gridiron.

Hmmm... taking Viagra to increase performance on the field.  Let's ask the real experts — the players' wives and girlfriends.

Injured woman demands 'justice' for Brandon Marshall

A 24-year-old woman showed off a black eye she claims was the result of a punch from NFL star— and new Chicago Bears acquisition— Brandon Marshall outside a Manhattan nightclub during an early Sunday morning melee.

The Harlem resident, Christin Myles, told the New York Daily News— in an exclusive report— that  Marshall— known as "The Beast"— ruined her birthday party by cold-cocking her with a closed fist and she wants to see justice for her pain and suffering.

"My eye still hurts," the California-raised woman told the paper.  "I still have problems with my vision."

Myles contends that the punch was unprovoked and left her eye bloody and swollen.

"I want him criminally accountable for what he did to me," said the San Diego State graduate.

Marshall— who was just traded from the Miami Dolphins to the Chicago Bears—said he was trying to escape the Marquee nightclub with his wife after she was hit with a thrown bottle.  He denies any wrongdoing.

Myles filed a different version of the incident with police the next day.  She claims Marshall left the popular club swinging at anyone within his reach and said she never met Marshall before the free-for-all.  Myles also said none of her friends at the club were involved in the brawl.  She also visited an eye doctor.

Myles' lawyer Sanford Rubenstein brushed away any talk that his client— a laid-off executive assistant— was preparing for a civil suit against the NFL player.  Marshall stands to earn $28.1 million over the next three years with the Bears.

"Right now, her intent is on getting justice," said Rubenstein.

Marshall's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, claims the 6-feet-4, 230-pound receiver nor any of his friends were involved in the fight that spilled outside the club.

"While attempting to leave to avoid the melee, Mrs. Marshall was struck in the face by a thrown bottle," said Steinberg.  " She suffered serious injury."

He said Marshall took his wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall, to a local hospital for treatment.

Marshall, the three-time Pro-Bowler, has posted five straight 1,000 yard seasons on the field but might be more well known for his off-the-field escapades.

He has been arrested many times for charges including disorderly conduct, battery, drunk driving and several incidents of domestic violence.

Last April, Marshall was stabbed in the stomach by Nogami-Marshall during a domestic spat that put him in the hospital for two days.  His wife was charged with aggravated assault.

'No Fun League' Was Pretty Funny During Week Six

The NFL entertains millions of fans every season but is sometimes about as humorous as "The View." The "No Fun League" commissioner Roger Goodell will never be confused with Louis C.K. but this week's NFL story lines seemed like they written for a few episodes of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."

It looks like Goodell will have his hands full following the escapades of Week Six.

The week began with Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall saying he was going to play like a "maniac" against the New York Jets on Monday night.  The All-Pro player tried to rally his lowly team by going as far as to announce that he was going to get thrown out of the game by the second quarter and might even punch out Jets defensemen Antonio Cromartie or Bart Scott.  Goodell was surely listening.

The fun continued in the second quarter of the St. Louis Rams-Green Bay Packers game when A.J. Hawk sacked Rams QB Sam Bradford and rubbed it in by flipping the bird towards his own bench and the Packers fans in Lambeau Field.

Hawk, who might have been angry at wearing the ugly Packers throw-back uniforms or celebrating the fact that it was his first solo-sack in nearly two years, later apologized.  He claimed it was a "running joke" and didn't intend for "anyone to see it."  Okay.  You can't make these things up folks.

The "Lambeau Flip" was ignored by the officiating crew but lambasted by the game announcers on TV and it's a good bet the Commish will be pointing his own accusing finger at the linebacker.

The bizarre episodes continued with a near cage-match between head coaches Jim Harbaugh and Jim Schwartz after an exciting game between the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions.  The two surprising teams exchanged six lead changes throughout the game and, during the mandatory mid-field after game handshake, Harbaugh's overenthusiastic grip and greet with a hard pat on the back riled losing coach Schwartz.

The Lions coach didn't take kindly to his exuberant counterpart and he chased Harbaugh down and started yelling at him.  To paraphrase Mel Brooks: May the Schwartz be on you.

The two coaches had to be separated by staff members and the tussle got the surrounding players pumped up and a few more scuffles broke out at mid-field.

Harbaugh later accepted the blame and said, "I was really revved up.  That wasn't me, I just shook his hand too hard."

It was even kind of comical-- in a Farrelly Brothers, ball-to-the-groin way--  seeing Saints head coach Sean Payton  coaching from the bench in a leg brace after getting run over by his own player and breaking his knee cap.  Sometimes humor hurts.

The only thing missing this week was a rant by the Sam Kinison of the NFL-- Rex Ryan.  I guess three straight losses don't lead to a very funny punchline, but there's still one day to gather some material.

It looked like there was little too much frat-boy for the NFL's blood this week.  Forget a finger, it's looks like Goodell will lay down his fist.
