Odell Beckham Jr. punches hole in locker room wall after Giants loss

We all know that Odell Beckham Jr. looked like he had hands of stone during the Giants’ miserable 38-13 playoff loss to Green Bay Sunday night. And after three drops (at least) and a mere 28 receiving yards in a game where he basically had no impact, the emotional receiver proved it by reportedly punching a hole in a wall outside the team's formal interview room as he was exiting.

No one saw Beckham do it, but a Lambeau Field groundskeeper heard the wall being punched and immediately came out into the hallway, where only Beckham was standing in front of the hole in the sheetrock.

According to the worker, Greg Woulf, Beckham responded angrily to Woulf’s co-worker telling him to calm down and replied by saying “F—k off” before walking back into the Giants’ locker room.

ESPN reported that Beckham then banged his head against the locker-room door, although that could not be confirmed Sunday night.

Beckham has a history of using his body parts in outbursts after losses. He was spotted banging his head against a metal sliding door three times in frustration after a loss to the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field late last month.

Six-year-old Giants fan has stern message for Odell Beckham Jr. (VIDEO)

It’s usually this time of year children get lectured about the difference between naughty and nice, but leave it to one six-year-old Giants fan to give Odell Beckham Jr. a stern talking-to on good Christmastime behavior.

After the NFL upheld the suspension of Beckham for his reckless playtime with Josh Norman in the Week 15 game against the Carolina Panthers, little Sidney Mosley from Queens, N.Y. had a message for the benched Giants star even after two public apologies.

And he didn't mince words.

"My name is Sidney Mosley. I am from Queens, New York. I am six years old. This message is to Odell Beckham Jr. about self-control. When you are mad at someone, you do not look at them, stare at them or fight with them. You tell the referee in the game. You are the Giants' best player, Odell Beckham Jr. The Giants need you.

"You can do it. You must learn from your mistakes. All the kids are watching you. That's why you need to set a good example. Who is going to catch the touchdown from Eli Manning? You are suspended, you must learn from your mistakes. The Giants need you. You can do it! Have a good day. I pray for you, I believe in you. Have a nice day. Goodbye."

Little Sidney sounds wise beyond his years with a message we can all live by.

Anyone looking for an explanation for why New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. retaliated so many times with so many cheap shots aimed at Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman during Sunday's 38-35 loss, ESPN's Adam Schefter offered up one possibility.

The reporter posted this scenario on his Facebook page Monday afternoon before Beckham got fined and suspended one game by the NFL:

"In pregame warmups, at least one Panthers official, and possibly more, carried black baseball bats on to the field and were motioning with them towards Odell Beckham Jr. while making comments to him, per a league source. Norman later grabbed the black bat and was swinging it in pregame warmups – which, by the way, an NFL Films camera captured. Beckham, according to another source, felt threatened and it helped put him in a certain frame of mind. It does not excuse what he did during the course of the game, but it does explain what led up to the battle that still is the talk of the league today."

At least one baseball bat was in the Panthers' possession during warmups, according to a source, but this is nothing new for Carolina. It's a motivational tactic the Panthers have used for several games — the bats are symbolic for making home-run plays. 

And although several Giants players also said they saw OBJ getting into it with a few Panthers players before the heart-breaking loss, they claim he was being threatened and having homophobic slurs hurled towards him around the time one of the players gave the bat to Norman.

Beckham was called for three personal fouls — including one when he launched himself head first right into Norman's helmet.

The NFL might want to check players for switchblades and brass knuckles next week.

The Carolina Panthers escaped New Jersey still undefeated with a 38-35 win over the New York Giants Sunday afternoon. But it was the game's marquee matchup between Odell Beckham Jr. and Josh Norman was the real attraction right from the start.

The Giants receiver and Panthers cornerback repeatedly got into it, shoving, slapping and trash-talking with each other throughout the game. Beckham was flagged for three unnecessary roughness penalties, twice on the same drive in the third quarter. Norman also drew an unnecessary roughness penalty on the same drive.

But, after three hours of hearing it from Beckham and the MetLife Stadium fans, Norman was later greeted with the chant of "Odell who?! Odell who?!" when the team bus returned to hordes of fans back south.

Tom Coughlin thinks Odell Beckham Jr.'s play vs. Patriots was a touchdown

Odell Beckham’s non-touchdown catch in Sunday’s last-second 27-26 loss to the New England Patriots should have been a touchdown.

At least that’s what New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday, when he took issue with one of the many controversial plays that cost his team a victory — and the NFL’s definition of a catch.

“We’ve made this a very difficult call,” a miffed Coughlin told WFAN during an interview. “And the thing that bothers me about it is, first, the word ‘runner,’ There is no runner in the end zone. When a guy catches the ball in the end zone, that’s it. He’s not going to take another step... He’s on the sideline.”

On the play in question, just before the two-minute warning on Sunday, with the Giants trailing, 24-23, Beckham caught a five-yard pass from Eli Manning in the end zone, seemed to get two feet down, and then stuck the ball out. As he did, Patriots corner Malcolm Butler knocked the ball away.

In real-time, it was hard to tell whether or not the play was a score, and the refs took a few seconds to deliberate. They initially ruled it a touchdown only to overturn that on instant replay. On Monday, the head of NFL officiating, Dean Blandino, backed up that ruling, stating on NFL Network that “the rule is pretty clear on this.”

And in slow-motion, it’s not clear that Beckham does have the ball long enough to establish himself as a runner, although Coughlin seemed to think so Tuesday.

“Beckham, the second foot hits, and it’s a fraction of a second, maybe a fraction of a second after that, the ball comes out,” Blandino said. “He didn’t have the ball long enough after the second foot was down to establish possession. That’s why it was overturned to incomplete.”

Still, Coughlin insisted Beckham did make the catch.

“If you look at it closely, he does have both hands on the ball, he does have his left foot down.

Then comes Butler in, and he makes a heck of a play. The kid (Butler) is very good,” Coughlin said. “Whatever has been determined to be a gray call, to me, is not going to be overruled. There was a call on the field that was a touchdown. It was a touchdown. It took a couple of guys to get together, but it was a touchdown. As such, if it was really in a gray area position, I really expected that the touchdown would continue to be ruled. Where is this going to go in the future, as we look at how can we solve this issue, because it is controversial.”

But Coughlin hopes his star receiver learned something from the play.

“He caught the ball. Now do I want him to have the ball in tight? You bet. And is that a tough lesson for Odell to learn? Yes it is.”

The NFL could have another concussion controversy on its hands this week.

New York Giants star Odell Beckham Jr. was able to stay in Sunday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys despite taking a huge hit in the first quarter that appeared to leave him dazed.

Beckham was leveled by Cowboys safety J.J. Wilcox on Eli Manning's throw over the middle with 2:42 left in the first quarter of the Giants’ 27-26 loss.

And although it wasn't considered a helmet-to-helmet hit, it sure sounded like it.

The catch was ruled incomplete after Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett challenged the call and lost after the review showed Beckham never had possession with the football. Beckham went straight to the bench and appeared to be shaken up, but came straight back into the game after being looked at by the Giants trainers and doctors.

But Beckham tried to wave off their attempt to make him undergo the NFL’s mandatory concussion protocol and they cleared him in surprisingly quick fashion, not even making Beckham go in the locker room for a more in-depth look.

The replay, which took several minutes, allowed Beckham additional time to gather himself and return to the game.

The wide receiver, who did not speak with reporters following the game, was limited to five catches and only 44 yards — his lowest yardage total since last Oct. 19.

Odell Beckham Jr. almost broke the Internet again after almost making another sensational one-handed catch during a preseason game Saturday night.

In the second quarter of of the "Snoopy Bowl" between the New York Giants and the New York Jets, OBJ almost came down with a gravity-defying, one-handed grab by the sideline.

And it has to come to the point these days where the Giants' star receiver now gets roaring cheers even for near-misses — although he did almost make the catch over all-world cornerback Darelle Revis.

Unfortunately, on this one, OBJ had one foot out of bounds. But the Giants fans didn't mind.

Odell Beckham Jr. becomes new NFL spokesperson for Head & Shoulders (VIDEO)

It looks like Odell Beckham Jr. took that New York Giants' 'Spa Day' a just a little too seriously.

Just a day after coach Tom Coughlin let Giants players choose from an array of body-soothing therapies such as a massage, yoga and placing their legs in compression boots instead of practice, Procter & Gamble released a 70-second YouTube video on Friday to announce Beckham Jr. as the new NFL spokesperson for Head & Shoulders, one of its most recognizable brands.



The second-year NFL player will become the "hair apparent" to replace Troy Polamalu, who retired in April, and shoulder a bulk of the ad time for the dandruff shampoo.

Beckham, along his with two-toned, blonde frohawk, became a sensation in just three months last fall. And besides catching 91 passes, including this well known grab, for 1,305 yards and 12 TDs in 12 games, the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year has landed numerous other endorsement deals.

Just guessing we'll be seeing OBJ's one-handed lather soon.

Giants fans can't be anything but excited to envision both Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr. being on the field together and catching touchdown passes from Eli Manning this season.

In 2014, Beckham took the football world by storm as he won the AP’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, the PWFA’s Rookie of the Year and went to the Pro Bowl while making one of the most famous catches in the history of the NFL.

Meanwhile, one-time salsa-sensation Victor Cruz suffered a season ending knee injury midway though the 2014 season. He only played in six games and could only watch from the shadow of Beckham's new found fame.

Vastly different seasons, from two vastly talented receivers.

So what do these two rival teammates really think of each other?

A hilarious new Foot Locker commercial imagined the two players talking to each other, but centers on the conversations in their heads. And it's Cruz's creepy smile and inner thoughts about OBJ stealing the spotlight from him last season that will make you crack up.

Here's the dialogue — both inner and aloud:

Odell: Great having you back, Vic. You’re looking fresh. 

Victor: Looks like you were at Foot Locker, too. Anyway, can’t wait to take the field with you this year.

Inner Victor: And take back my life, which you stole. 

Odell: We’re going to have some good chemistry out there. 

Victor: Yup, it’s going to be awesome.

Odell: If you think about it, we’re lucky to be teammates.

Giants fans can only be thinking good things about both.

Eli Manning's arm has never been stronger says Giants QB coach

Eli Manning has pretty much played the same way over the years, but if you ask Mike Sullivan, one thing about the New York Giants quarterback has changed — and it's not those awkward facial expressions.

One thing that’s different, according to the Giants quarterbacks coach is Manning’s arm strength.

“I think his arm is very live,” Sullivan said at Giants practice on Wednesday. “I don’t think his arm has ever been stronger.”

It goes without saying that the 34-year-old Manning is a wiser, if not slower, signal caller than when Sullivan last worked with him in 2011. But physically stronger?

Now reunited with Manning again as his quarterbacks coach after more than three years, Sullivan believes he is.

"He looks like he's got a lot of zip on the football," Sullivan said. "He's worked hard to take care of his body, to work on some of his fundamentals and techniques and try to make sure he's able to do all the things necessary to get everything into his throws."

Manning said in the spring he worked with baseball coaches to develop that improvement.

And with Ben McAdoo's offense lining up with top-flight weapons like Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr., it looks like this could be the year of Air Manning.

Fans arrive at midnight to see American Pharoah in Haskell Invitational

Sorry Odell, but when it comes to diehard fans, it looks like another New Jersey-bred star might be giving you a run for your money. And this sports star is faster and even pays off too.

Causing all this new fan fuss is Triple Crown-winner American Pharoah who is set to run in the $1.75 million William Hill Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on Sunday.

According to NJ.com, railbirds hoping to get a glimpse of the champion thoroughbred  began lining up outside the front gate of the New Jersey track almost 18 hours before the horse even entered the stating gate:

Brick Township resident Steven Prosser was the first in line outside the main gate of the racetrack at midnight, nearly 18 hours before the scheduled post time for the main event.

This year's Haskell was be the 25^th Prosser attended, but he said he made sure to arrive extra early this year to reserve enough tables in the picnic area to accommodate a large group of family and friends.

"I love horse racing anyway, but it is monumental to get the chance to see a Triple Crown winner," Prosser said. "We might never get to see one again in our lifetime."

The gates to the parking lots were scheduled to open at 5 a.m., but they opened about 10 minutes early and seconds later there was already a long line of out of breath racing fans stretching from the general admission entrances.

At 9 a.m., there was a mad dash for the tables in the general admission picnic area, and in less than a minute all of the tables in the section closest to the track were accounted for.

On Friday, the first day of Giants training camp, the star receiver held an autograph signing for fans following practice. And it created a few moments of chaos and ugliness during the 45-minute signing period while Beckham made his way through a long alley packed with fans at what appeared to be the most attended open training camp practice since the team moved to their New Jersey complex from Albany.

Even before Beckham arrived, Giants staffers were instructing the crowd to be wary of kids along the fence. "Don't squish 'em!'' one yelled. "We're all Giants fans here. We have to take care of each other.''

And during the chaos among those clamoring for a piece of No. 13, children, the disabled and even a woman having a seizure got trampled by the crowd.

In a release Friday night, the club admitted that the portable bleachers set up for the training camp crowd were overwhelmed by the crowd and "shifted."

There were no injuries, the club said, but the issue has led to a change in autograph policies. They also said it moved all autograph sessions to away from the bleachers and into the Kids' Zone area of camp. The team has also barred adults from seeking autographs in the post-practice sessions.

Tom Brady is No. 1 in NFL merchandise sales: Report

The DeflateGate scandal may have taken some of the air out of Tom Brady's title as Super Bowl Champion in some NFL circles, but seems to have pumped up the Patriots quarterback's selling power with fans.

That's because Brady is the top earner on the NFL Players Association's top 50 player overall retail sales list.

According to the NFLPA, the list is based on total sales of all officially licensed merchandise from March 1 through May 31. The list is released quarterly by NFL Players Inc.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson had been No. 1 in the last quarterly rankings, with Brady finishing third.

Brady's No. 1 ranking was powered by him outselling all players in Oyo Sports mini-figures, Forever Collectibles bobbleheads, Fatheads and Lids custom player headwear.

Brady ranked second in Nike jersey sales behind 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Brady also finished second in women's apparel, trailing Kaepernick.

Apparently, he practices snagging footballs in just about every unusual position imaginable.

On Monday, both Beckham and Miami Dolphins wideout Jarvis Landry, his former teammate at LSU, posted videos of their workout with a JUGS machine.

Bet you won't hear any of OBJ's Giants teammates telling him to get off his ass during practice after seeing this.

Odell Beckham Jr. bemoans being known only for 'The Catch'

Odell Beckham Jr. vaulted into the celebrity stratosphere after the remarkable one-handed catch he somehow hauled in against the Cowboys before a national television audience last season. And after an offseason of showing off his phenomenal athletic skills on social media and getting himself the cover of Madden NFL 16, the Giants' sensitive receiver still thinks his notable rookie season is being defined by one play.

Now, only a few weeks after the second-year Giant was complaining that ribbing from his New York Giants teammates during practice were starting to get under his skin, Beckham is bemoaning the fact that that one catch defined his whole season.

Beckham told ESPN:

"It's unfortunate, in a way, to be known only for 'the catch,'" he said. "There were so many other things I did during the season; it's hard for me to distinguish myself because of that catch. I know that I'm more than that. But at least people know you, you know what I mean?"

During Beckham's breakout 2014 rookie season, he caught 91 passes for over 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns — in only 12 games.

And the most memorable was that catch.

"When I watch it, I'm like, 'Wow, that really happened!' It's still a little crazy to me,” admitted the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year. "I envisioned myself making some kind of catch in the end zone, but I didn't know exactly what it was going to be ... I knew that I was capable of it, but just seeing it and the reaction to it, it was by far the craziest thing that has ever happened to me."

While ODB obviously rejects the fact that the iconic catch defined his first NFL season, he better get used to it. 

Because NFL defenses — long on memory but, short on cordiality — are definitely not going to let Beckham forget about it. 

Odell Beckham Jr. offered professional baseball contract

Odell Beckham Jr. throws one softball for fun and look what happens? Well, if you are the freakishly athletic OBJ, and it broke the plate with 80-plus heat, anything is possible — even the offer of a professional baseball contract.

The New York Giants receiver was offered a contract to be a pitcher by the Can-Am League's Rockland Boulders on Tuesday after video of him throwing a softball at a charity event went viral over the weekend.

The Boulders are an independent league team based out of Pomona, New York.

"It's apparent that Odell is a very gifted athlete regardless of his sport.  We think that getting experience pitching to professional hitters will give him the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson," Boulders general manager Shawn Reilly said. "As we are the New York area's only defending professional championship team, he will have the opportunity to learn in a first-class environment while still in close proximity to MetLife Stadium."

Beckham would reportedly receive professional coaching. 

"We were very impressed with Odell's mechanics in the video," said Boulders pitching coach Bobby Jones, the former Mets starter. "He's shown his ability to catch a ball on the gridiron and after seeing his prowess on the mound, I am optimistic that he has the tools to develop into a quality pitcher."

In all probability, Beckham is going to pass on the Boulders' offer, which asks for him to report to Spring Training next May, in the middle of the Giants' offseason workout program. 

Although, if Beckham really wanted to try his hand at baseball in the offseason, the Giants wouldn't be able to stop him. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson attended Spring Training the past two years with the Texas Rangers prior to the start of the Seahawks' offseason workout program. 

And I have to say this again about Beckham. Is there anything the guy can't do with a ball in his hands?

It's become almost routine to see Odell Beckham Jr. showing off his all-around athletic skills on social media, but here's one that might make more than a few MLB teams take notice.

Teammate Steve Weatherford posted an Instagram video of the NFL star smoking the plate with an impressive fastball at a New Jersey charity event.

And, of course, OBJ hit a home run too.

The two Giants players were joined by wide receiver Rueben Randle, cornerback Prince Amukamara, defensive end Damontre Moore, defensive tackle Jay Bromley and running back Andre Williams on former teammate David Wilson's team during the St. Jude Celebrity Softball Game.

Just guessing the Giants wish their star receiver would apply some of that heat to the hamstring that kept him out of minicamp last week.

Odell Beckham Jr. to appear in ESPN The Magazine 'Body Issue'

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will be among 24 other athletes — including Bryce Harper and Kevin Love — appearing in ESPN The Magazine's seventh annual "Body Issue."

ODB, who will already grace the "Madden NFL 16" cover this season, will be featured in the photo spread which will include basketball stars DeAndre Jordan and Brittney Griner, U.S. soccer players Ali Krieger and Jermaine Jones, gymnast Aly Raisman, swimmer Natalie Coughlin, French Open champion Stan Wawrinka, NHL All-Star Tyler Seguin, the husband-wife team of surfer Laird Hamilton, former beach volleyball player Gabby Reece and 300-plus-pound Indianapolis Colts offensive linemen: Anthony Castonzo, Todd Herremans and Jack Mewhort.

And the odds Beckham reenacts his famous one-handed catch in the buff must be pretty high. Just lay off the thin-skinned receiver's hamstring when you see it.

Adams was then asked if he could take Beckham one-on-one. His reply: "Real basketball? Oh yeah! Tell him to come down to Cali." Thomson suggested the Las Vegas strip as a location and Adams said he'd "love for that to happen."

Maybe around May 2 when that other grudge match between Manny and Floyd is on. There should be more than a few fans in town that weekend.

Giants content letting Eli Manning play out final year of contract: Report

The New York Giants do not seem any closer to working out a contract extension with Eli Manning than they were at the end of last season and appear quite content to let him play out the final year of his deal, according to an ESPN report.

ESPN New York's Dan Graziano reported from the league meetings in Phoenix on Sunday night that the Giants had another conversation with Manning's representatives but that, for now, there is no urgency to sign him to an extension.

Another 2004 NFL draftee, Ben Roethlisberger, recently signed a five year, $99 million extension with the Steelers but the Giants don't seem anxious to match that price.

According to the sources, the Giants had been keeping a close eye on the contract extension talks between the Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who had only one year left on his contract before he agreed to a five-year, $99 million deal last week. The Giants believe Manning will ask for more than Roethlisberger got, and at this point they don't appear ready to make that kind of commitment.

Manning will earn $17 million in salary in 2015, and count $19.75 million against the cap, so signing him to an extension would have the immediate benefit of freeing up additional cap space. But as free agency winds down, with few big names remaining on the market, there is less urgency for the Giants to get something done with Manning.

By letting the 34-year-old Manning play out the season and by reviving contract talks next offseason, the Giants get a chance to see if the two-time Super Bowl winner is still in his prime or on a downward slide. Chances are good he will have respectable numbers like last season (63.1 completion percentage and 30 touchdowns against 14 interceptions), especially if young receivers like Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz stay healthy.

The laid-back Manning doesn't seem to have any beef about hanging in contract Limbo (at least publicly) and has strongly hinted that he wants to retire in Giants uniform.

The Giants also have the option of using the franchise tag on Manning to keep him in the mix for 2016 while they work out an extension.
