Gronk crashes Sean Spicer presser during White House visit

During the New England Patriots' visit to the White House Wednesday afternoon, party boy tight end Rob Gronkowski unexpectedly showed up at a Sean Spicer press conference.

As the Press Secretary was answering a question about NAFTA, Gronk casually poked his head in the room.

The mischievous NFL star asked Spicer if he needed some help.

Spicer replied, “I think I got this, but thank you.”

After more stunned looks from the press corps than the day after the election, the room broke out in laughter as Gronkowski left the room.

“That was cool," Spicer remarked. "How do you follow that?”
Gronk also made his way to the Oval Office and had a chance to fist bump the Prez after the Patriots ceremony honoring the team's Super Bowl LI win.

Just glad the the big lug didn't start poking around while asking: What's this big shiny red button for?

Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard fulfills Super Bowl bet with fan after Falcons blew game

Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard was seen on a date with an unfamiliar young man at a New York Nets game Wednesday night — the result of a bet she made with the lucky fan on Twitter during the Super Bowl.

Lucky... if you consider watching the Nets anything but torture.

With the Falcons leading the Patriots by 25 points during the game, John Goehrke, a 20-year-old Pats fan, tweeted at Bouchard “If patriots win we go on date?”

Bouchard, who has been trolled by bigger names like the Mets' Matt Harvey in the past, responded to the tweet with a confident, “sure” on a bold wager that Goehrke really had nothing to lose.

Anyway, by now we all now know the Patriots came back to win and we also get to find out that Bouchard is a woman of her word.

The couple were seated courtside and even go to throw t-shirts into the stands during an intermission.

It must have been a night to remember for Goehrke who can go now back to staring at the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model's photos and troll more celebrities.
At least one sure bet was the Nets. They lost 129-125 to the Bucks.

Referee robs Patriots of potential touchdown with ‘inadvertent whistle’ in game against Bills (VIDEO)

It looks like more than just the wind was blowing at Gillette Stadium last night. There were also "inadvertent" whistles and a referee's overinflated call to keep things swirling about.

But it was indeed a premature whistle blow during the Monday Night Football game that almost derailed the Patriots unbeaten streak before they managed a 20-13 win over the Bills.

Early in the third quarter, Danny Amendola caught a 14-yard pass from Tom Brady and was about to take off with an open field in front of him. But before Amendola could make his way down field, an official blew the play dead. It would later be announced as an "inadvertent whistle."

It was unclear why the whistle was blown, as no flag was thrown as Brady and Amendola were both well in bounds.

The confusion had fans, players and coaches in a frenzy.

In the end the Patriots were given the ball at their own 45-yard line where Amendola made the catch and then received another 15 yards due to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty assessed to the Bills as coach Rex Ryan had stepped on the out of bounds line.

And is anyone sure vengeful commish Roger Goodell wasn't hiding out in the stands with a whistle in his mouth last Night?

But, more importantly, that play cost me 12.9 points and a win in my fantasy league.

That really blows.

Tom Coughlin thinks Odell Beckham Jr.'s play vs. Patriots was a touchdown

Odell Beckham’s non-touchdown catch in Sunday’s last-second 27-26 loss to the New England Patriots should have been a touchdown.

At least that’s what New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday, when he took issue with one of the many controversial plays that cost his team a victory — and the NFL’s definition of a catch.

“We’ve made this a very difficult call,” a miffed Coughlin told WFAN during an interview. “And the thing that bothers me about it is, first, the word ‘runner,’ There is no runner in the end zone. When a guy catches the ball in the end zone, that’s it. He’s not going to take another step... He’s on the sideline.”

On the play in question, just before the two-minute warning on Sunday, with the Giants trailing, 24-23, Beckham caught a five-yard pass from Eli Manning in the end zone, seemed to get two feet down, and then stuck the ball out. As he did, Patriots corner Malcolm Butler knocked the ball away.

In real-time, it was hard to tell whether or not the play was a score, and the refs took a few seconds to deliberate. They initially ruled it a touchdown only to overturn that on instant replay. On Monday, the head of NFL officiating, Dean Blandino, backed up that ruling, stating on NFL Network that “the rule is pretty clear on this.”

And in slow-motion, it’s not clear that Beckham does have the ball long enough to establish himself as a runner, although Coughlin seemed to think so Tuesday.

“Beckham, the second foot hits, and it’s a fraction of a second, maybe a fraction of a second after that, the ball comes out,” Blandino said. “He didn’t have the ball long enough after the second foot was down to establish possession. That’s why it was overturned to incomplete.”

Still, Coughlin insisted Beckham did make the catch.

“If you look at it closely, he does have both hands on the ball, he does have his left foot down.
Then comes Butler in, and he makes a heck of a play. The kid (Butler) is very good,” Coughlin said. “Whatever has been determined to be a gray call, to me, is not going to be overruled. There was a call on the field that was a touchdown. It was a touchdown. It took a couple of guys to get together, but it was a touchdown. As such, if it was really in a gray area position, I really expected that the touchdown would continue to be ruled. Where is this going to go in the future, as we look at how can we solve this issue, because it is controversial.”

But Coughlin hopes his star receiver learned something from the play.

“He caught the ball. Now do I want him to have the ball in tight? You bet. And is that a tough lesson for Odell to learn? Yes it is.”

Bill Belichick compares Rob Gronkowski to Giants great Mark Bavaro

When it comes to the highest accolades any New York Giants fans can muster the name Mark Bavaro always seems to enter the equation.

On Friday, Patriots coach Bill Belichick invoked the name of the Giants great when comparing Rob Gronkowski's blocking ability to one of the toughest tight ends ever.

“Yeah, he’s one of the best blockers,” Belichick said of Gronk. “I mean, I’ll put him there with Bavaro in terms of the guys I’ve coached. I mean, it’d be hard for me to put anybody past Bavaro just because of the number of times he blocked Reggie White with no help.”

Belichick is very familiar with both of the tight ends. He was a defensive coach with the Giants from 1979-90 and saw Bavaro battle the likes of Lawrence Taylor and Carl Banks.

“I mean, those were as competitive matchups and practices I’ve ever seen,” Belichick said. “I mean, it was awesome to watch players of that level compete the way they competed. All three of those guys were just tremendous football players. So, I have a lot of accolades for Rob and his blocking. I’m just saying it’s hard for me to put anybody past Bavaro based on Reggie White, Banks and Taylor.”

High praise indeed.

College football team used the botched Colts play once...and it worked (VIDEO)

By now you have seen and scratched your head over the Colts botched punt play late in the third quarter of Sunday night's game against the Patriots. The epic fail where head coach Chuck Pagano's odd formation had two guys standing over the ball in the middle of the field and the rest of the team clustered together off to the side.

Just in case you haven't seen it, here it is again for you amusement:

But discombobulated as this play looked — and it had failure written all over it — there’s at least one example of it working to win a game.

The University of Maine pulled it off in 2011 against James Madison in overtime.

The only differences were that Maine used its regular quarterback and center with the ball, and they lined up in a shotgun formation — and it worked:
Something tells me if the Colts used someone who could throw the ball from the shotgun position, it might have actually worked.

But have fun finding a coach willing to risk his job by giving it a try.

Al Michaels throws shade on 'DeflateGate' mention prop bet (VIDEO)

The New England Patriots-Indianapolis Colts game was one of the most anticipated of the season — partly because of the Tom Brady-Andrew Luck rematch but mostly because of that whole DeflateGate thing.

And an online sportsbook offered a prop bet on how many times the word "DeflateGate" — or a reasonable facsimile thereof — would be mentioned on NBC’s "Sunday Night Football" broadcast during the game.

Al Michaels, NBC’s lead play-by-play broadcaster for the NFL, became aware of such a wager and made sure to mention the D-word on air not just once, but four times in a rapid fire sequence: “DeflateGate, DeflateGate, DeflateGate, DeflateGate” taking the air out of the whole bet.

The over/under was 2.5.

Michaels then added, “Four. You won the over.”

Wonder how many of Michaels' buddies cashed in on that one?

Photographers storm out of Tom Brady event after delay: Report

While cameras seem to happily linger on the beauty of Tom Brady's wife Gisele Bundchen without complaint, apparently the shooters behind them don't have quite that same patience with her quarterback husband.

According to the New York Post, a group of annoyed New York photographers rebelled and stormed out en masse from an event where Tom Brady appeared to launch a new $5,450 watch on Tuesday night.

Page Six wrote:

A source claimed that 11 of the hard-working lensmen who showed up at Spring Studios for “brand ambassador” Brady’s TAG Heuer event bolted before the Patriots quarterback ever appeared for pics, after they were made to wait for his appearance. The grumbling started when a group of invited paps claimed one of the LVMH event’s fashionable organizers insulted their threads as they arrived.

“They said, ‘Where are you people coming from?’ — like we should be in a jacket and tie,” one shutterbug fumed. “We’re not the best dressed, but one guy came from a court stakeout. Nobody was in shorts and muscle shirts.”

While the extended wait took some of the air out of the event, some sympathetic servers reportedly offered hors d’oeuvres to the hungry camera crew — who were then chastised for eating them.

“They were like, ‘The food is not for you, don’t eat the food!’” a Page Six source alleged. “For two hours we were forced to remain stacked on a 2-foot riser that several people fell off.”

And after Brady was “an hour late,” it was more than the photogs' stomachs that were grumbling.

“He’s a sports guy,” said the pissed-off source. “You think there’s people in France talking about Tom Brady? He’s not George Clooney. He doesn’t have an acting career. He’s not even Shia LaBeouf ... If you want to see him, flip to your sports section — he’s there throwing footballs.”

That’s when the shutterbugs put the stop in F/stop and bailed on Brady, leaving in a huff.

“It was a tremendous act of solidarity that only begins to address the sometimes inhumane ways professionals are treated,” the source declared.

And if you have ever covered a presser, you know never to cut off the chow line mid-event.

But another source countered that Brady was just 20 minutes behind schedule because interviews at the site ran over, and that only six cranky photographers stormed off. A rep for the event said, “We got every picture we wanted.”

Gisele Bundchen charging $700 for photo book of her modeling career

Patriots fans probably thought Christmas already came and went after Santa a judge tossed that Tom Brady Deflategate suspension down the chimney. But for the Pats fan who has everything, here's a $700 holiday gift idea sure to please.

Brady's supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen, is charging that astounding price for a new coffee table book celebrating her 20 years in the fashion industry.

The book contains hundreds of snapshots, nude photos and even one picture of her wearing a large cheetah head.

Only 1,000 copies of the limited edition book will be sold, each of which will be signed by Bundchen herself.

The tome includes tributes from the 34-year-old Brazilian beauty's friends, family and famous fashionistas — which partly justifies the high cost, said the publisher, Taschen, in a statement.

And it will "shed light on how and why she has become one of the greatest models of all time," the Taschen statement added.

Jets fans will probably pool their money and buy it to see the naked pictures.

The pricey book will be available in November — just enough time to start saving up.

Miss America contestant says Tom Brady cheated, then wins pageant (VIDEO)

While Miss America contestants are usually peppered with queries about what they would do to make the world a better place but, somehow that all important question about Tom Brady and his Deflategate suspension being overturned made its way to the judge's panel Sunday night.

And Betty Cantrell of Georgia weighed in heavy on the issue of whether Brady used improperly inflated footballs on the Patriots' run to a Super Bowl title.

Cantrell said, "I'm not sure" when asked if Brady cheated. "I'd have to see the ball and feel it" she said, before adding, "If there's any question, then yes, he cheated."

And then, she won.

Asked to clarify her remarks afterward, Cantrell said, "It was kind of a funky question to ask me if Tom Brady cheated. I'm not a football player and I really wasn't there to feel that ball. If there was any question as to whether or not he cheated and somebody else felt the ball and decided that it was deflated, then yes, I guess he did cheat."

Imagine if she was a Jets fan?

And speaking of New York, Miss Georgia's victory ended that state's win streak at the Miss America pageant. Last year's Miss America, Kira Kazantsev, was the third consecutive Miss New York to win the title.

NFL leaves Tom Brady off photo of elite quarterbacks

On Sunday night, the NFL posted a graphic on its Twitter account showing seven of the game’s elite quarterbacks while posing the question of which teams could meet in the Super Bowl.

And guess what: The guy who won it last year wasn't even pictured.

A still smarting NFL somehow managed to leave New England Patriots QB and four-time champion Tom Brady off of its promotional post before deleting the tweet.

How's that for sour grapes?
I guess beating the NFL doesn't make you elite.

Courtroom sketch of Tom Brady starts meme blitz on Twitter

Tom Brady was in court Wednesday — in case you didn't know— and, as a result, had his likeness drawn by the courtroom artist.

Who gave him a DeflateGate sort of face.
Brady reportedly signed the drawing, said the New York Daily News but not before the scraggly sketch set off a bunch of hilarious memes on Twitter.

And there were some who thought Brady was more Picasso than Van Gogh.

Patriots fan fires back at Jets, Goodell by flying banner of his own (PHOTO)

And the AFC East banner wars begin.

A Maine man countered the New York Jets group who flew a "Cheaters Look Up!" banner over the New England Patriots training camp last week, by hiring a plane to fly a banner over NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s vacation home in Scarborough with the message "Comm. Goodell Jet Home To N.Y."

Richard Pate of Biddeford, Maine, wouldn't say how much it cost, but insisted it was worth every penny to poke Goodell after he gave Brady a four-game suspension.

And take a jab at the Jets banner as well.

"I went over to [a pilot] and asked if he'd be willing to fly a banner, and he was more than happy to ..." Pate told WCSH6. "You know, the irony is I don't remember the Jets winning many Super Bowls, maybe one back in the 60s."

While Goodell's home is under police surveillance, Pate said he hopes to fly the banner again on Sunday or Monday.

Tom Brady greeted by rousing cheers at Patriots camp (VIDEO)

Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady took to the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium Thursday shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday and fans greeted him, cheering and chanting, "Bra-dy! Bra-dy!" as he waved to his supporters.

Despite being suspended four games for his role in Deflategate, Brady stretched on the sideline and wore his red practice jersey for the Patriots' opening training camp session. He took snaps under center, handing the ball off on his first repetition. Reserve quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo ran drills on the opposite side of the field as coach Bill Belichick looked on.

"Right now, we're preparing for today," Belichick said. "I'm not thinking about a month from now, a year from now, six months from now...I don't dream about something in the future."
And speaking of "gates," here's the mad rush of Foxborough fanatics hoping to see Brady when the Pats opened theirs this morning.

Gisele Bundchen wore burqa on way to plastic surgery: Report

Tom Brady apparently wasn't the only one in his household concerning himself about deflated objects in recent weeks.

While the Patriots quarterback was trying to save face during an investigation by the NFL, his supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen, was getting secret plastic surgery in Paris.

Bundchen and her younger sister reportedly hid under a burqa — the traditional Muslim wear — during the holy month of Ramadan — so they could get boob jobs without any publicity.

The Brazilian beauty wore a burqa so she could sneak into the swank International Clinique du Parc Monceau for work on her breasts and eyes, sources claim.

A dead giveaway was the footwear — Muslim women are forbidden from wearing open-toed shoes.

A source said she was concerned that her breasts had sagged after having two children — and the surgery was a 35th-birthday and post-retirement present to herself.

Gisele and sister Rafaela were picked up by Bundchen’s longtime chauffeur at the Bristol Hotel and driven to the clinic on July 15, sources said. The photo below shows Gisele with the driver before she donned the burqa.

The next day, after the two surgeries, the trusty driver — who has worked for Gisele since at least 2010 — took the two women back to the hotel, where they packed up their belongings. He then drove them to the exclusive Les Sources de Caudalie spa, where Bundchen recovered for five days before leaving Paris.

The former Victoria’s Secret Angel, who made $47 million last year as the world’s highest-paid model, according to Forbes, paid about $11,000 for her surgeries.

And that's one DeflateGate problem out of the way.

On Friday, Bundchen was photographed in sunglasses as she and Rafaela strolled through Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on their way back to the United States.

Gone was the burqa — which has actually been banned in France since 2010.

Her reps didn’t respond to requests for comment on Tuesday.

Osi Umenyiora to sign one-day contract, retire with Giants: Report

With no NFL teams seeking his services, Osi Umenyiora appears ready to call it an NFL career — but not before signing a one-day contract so he can retire a New York Giant.

The 33-year-old pass rusher, who spent nine seasons with the Giants before a brief stint in Atlanta, is in discussions with the team on a one-day contract that would allow him to bow out in blue, sources familiar with the situation told Around The NFL.

Umenyiora was a key member of both Giants' Super Bowl runs over the past decade. He was a speedy threat in the team's NASCAR rush package, which twice beat great Patriots offenses.

But during contentious contract talks in 2011, Umenyiora called Giants GM Jerry Reese a liar for reneging on a promise to give him a raise or trade him. He finally became a free-agent in 2013.

Umenyiora had said that "whenever it is that I retire", I think it would only make sense for me to do that as a Giant." In the nine seasons, after the Giants drafted him in the second round out of Troy University in Alabama, Umenyiora recorded 75 sacks — fourth on the team's all-time list.

A few months ago Umenyiora still was planning to continue his NFL career, and he was really hoping to re-sign with his former team. At least sometime this summer he'll get his wish.

Even if it's only for one last day.

Tom Brady is No. 1 in NFL merchandise sales: Report

The DeflateGate scandal may have taken some of the air out of Tom Brady's title as Super Bowl Champion in some NFL circles, but seems to have pumped up the Patriots quarterback's selling power with fans.

That's because Brady is the top earner on the NFL Players Association's top 50 player overall retail sales list.

According to the NFLPA, the list is based on total sales of all officially licensed merchandise from March 1 through May 31. The list is released quarterly by NFL Players Inc.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson had been No. 1 in the last quarterly rankings, with Brady finishing third.

Brady's No. 1 ranking was powered by him outselling all players in Oyo Sports mini-figures, Forever Collectibles bobbleheads, Fatheads and Lids custom player headwear.

Brady ranked second in Nike jersey sales behind 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Brady also finished second in women's apparel, trailing Kaepernick.

The complete top 10 in total sales:

1. Patriots QB Tom Brady
2. 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick
3. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson
4. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers
5. Broncos QB Peyton Manning
6. Texans DE J.J. Watt
7. Seahawks CB Richard Sherman
8. Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr.
9. Titans rookie QB Marcus Mariota
10. Buccaneers rookie QB Jameis Winston.

Colts hang 'AFC Finalist' banner at Lucas Oil Stadium, get ridiculed by Internet

The Indianapolis Colts decided to commemorate their 45-7 AFC title game loss to the Patriots by hanging an "2014 AFC Finalist" banner at Lucas Oil Stadium this week.

And, if hanging up a banner that will remind you of a 38-point beat-down every time your team plays at home wasn't bad enough, the Twitter trolls had a field day.

In the Colts' defense, this isn't the first time they've hung up an "AFC Finalist" banner, it's just the first time they've done it in the social media era when people could make fun of it. Here's a look at the banners from 1995 and 2003.

Aaron Hernandez 'drunk and high' and dancing at gas station an hour before alleged murder (VIDEO)

Aaron Hernandez and a group of friends ran up a $243 bar tab and smoked marijuana in the hours before the boyfriend of his fiance's sister was shot to death, according to testimony at the ex-New England Patriot's murder trial on Thursday.

Just over an hour before the killing of Odin Lloyd on June 17, 2013, video surveillance shows Hernandez staggering around a gas station and dancing near the gas pumps.

The video also shows a co-defendant, Carlos Ortiz, wearing a white towel around his shoulders. A white towel was found near Lloyd's body later that morning in an industrial park not far from Hernandez's home.

Hernandez does a return dance at 1:48 of the surveillance video below:

Prosecutors haven't said who shot Lloyd but claim Hernandez orchestrated the killing.

Ortiz and another co-defendant, Ernest Wallace, have pleaded not guilty and will be tried separately.

Thursday's testimony began with an account from Kelly Rose Belanger, who was bar manager at South Street Cafe in Providence, Rhode Island, on June 16, 2013, which was Father's Day.

Another woman, Vanessa Sanchez, testified on Wednesday that she was among the six people in the group, which included Shayanna Jenkins, Hernandez's fiancee and the mother of his child.

Prosecutors displayed a bar receipt from that night that showed the tab included 30 alcoholic drinks: 11 Hennessy cognacs, 10 Sex on the Beach mixed vodka drinks, seven Bud Lights and two Grey Goose vodkas.

During the evening, Belanger said, Hernandez left the bar several times with one of the men he was with. She could smell marijuana and looked outside and saw Hernandez and the other man smoking it. She asked them to stop, and they did, she said.

Hernandez paid the $243 tab at 12:19 a.m. on June 17, leaving a $30 tip, Belanger said.

Less than two hours later, at 2:08 a.m., Hernandez and Ortiz were captured on video at a gas station south of Boston where Hernandez was filmed filling his Nissan Altima and walking unsteadily into the shop to buy gum and cigars.

Prosecutors said Hernandez left the gas station at 2:12 a.m. and drove to Lloyd's home in the Dorchester section of Boston. Evidence shows Lloyd was shot six times with a .45 by 3:30 a.m. and his bullet-riddled body was found in an industrial park less than a mile from Hernandez's house.

Police found a 45-caliber shell casing in a dumpster at a rental car agency, and witnesses testified it had been removed from a car Hernandez returned. Police have not found the gun used in the slaying.

Bill Belichick's Super Bowl kiss with daughter gets Twitter treatment

Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick was photographed celebrating his fourth Super Bowl victory Sunday night with an intimate kiss on the lips with his 30-year-old daughter, Amanda Belichick — and it created quite a stir.

The awkward lip-locking happened after the Patriots 28-24 victory over the Seahawks when Belichick's son and daughter met him on the field.

While the icky moment has now been seen by millions and ridiculed by many, the kiss has been defended by some online users as a sweet, intimate moment between family. Others have branded it as "disturbing," "aggressive" and "making out."

And Twitter gave it the treatment:

And don't ever mention deflated balls again.
