Skeleton competitor hit by broom during track run (VIDEO)

A Canadian skeleton racer avoided serious injury after she hit a broom haphazardly left on the track as she competed at the European championships in Igls, Austria.

Jane Channell was allowed to redo the run at Saturday's event — after nearly being swept off the track by the large, red broom while going about 45-mph.  Channell was not hurt by the unfortunate collision, but was lucky it didn't happen further down the course where sledders reach speeds of up to120-mph.

Channell recorded a time of 55.15 seconds on her second run and finished 11th.

Maybe she should switch to curling.
