Tour de France cyclist takes tumble down cliff after getting bumped from behind (VIDEO)

Team Sky's Peter Kennaugh took a frightening spill on stage nine of the Tour de France after falling into a ditch on the side of the road.

Kennaugh appeared to be clipped on the shoulder as a rider went past on his left and was pushed off the road before spiralling downwards into the bushes. A good thing too because it looks like another 100-feet to the bottom.

The 168.5km stage from Saint-Girons began with an early break from (Vacansoleil-DCM), Cyril Lemoine (Sojasun) and Laurent Didier (RadioShack Leopard), but almost immediately Garmin-Sharp's David Millar and Jack Bauer responded to move 25 seconds clear at the front of the road.

It was as Sky tried to counter that move when Kennaugh got caught in a tangle and tumbled down the side of the road, crawling back up with his helmet askew and cuts on his arms.
