Brazilian soccer player hurts himself while celebrating first pro goal

The art of the post-goal celebration — crowd-pleasing when done well, painful if done to excess.

That's exactly what happened after Internacional built a nice 3-1 lead over America MG in the first leg of their Copa do Brasil third-round tie. Their third goal came from 19-year-old Maurides in the 88th minute — a moment made all the more special for the striker since it was the first goal of his professional career. So to celebrate, Maurides did a cartwheel and then a backflip. He stuck the landing on the half of his routine, but landed awkwardly going for the 10.

The one-named prospect had to be stretchered off the pitch in agony and embarrassment.

According to the team doctor, Maurides' knee sprain was "more of a scare" than something that could keep him out for a long period of time.

From now on, stick to the less dangerous knee slide.
