Nationals fans get World Series ticket pre-sale offer after team is eliminated

Just hours after the Washington Nationals had blown the biggest lead ever in a MLB playoff game and got knocked out of playoff contention, stunned Nationals season ticket holders received an e-mail announcing an exclusive World Series ticket pre-sale Monday, according to the  Nats Enquirer blog.

The 7:01 a.m. e-mail was sent Saturday to the Nationals fans just when they were waking up from their Friday nightmare — rubbing a little more salt into their wounds.

The Nats had blown a 6-0 lead to the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 5 of the NLDS — after the Cardinals rallied for 4 runs in the top of the ninth inning. The Nationals 9-7 loss effectively broke the hearts of every Washington fan.

MLB Advanced Media, not the Nationals, sent the e-mail, according to DC Sports blog.

"It was a stunningly stupid error on our part and we apologize to the Nationals and their great fans," Bob Bowman, the president and CEO of MLB Advanced Media, told the blog in a statement.

Would you like a little more pain and suffering with your morning coffee this morning, sir?
