Soccer may be one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S., but you know it's really caught on when hooligans start brawling — European style —even before the match.
That's what happened Sunday when two gangs of rival fans were seen mixing it up in the streets of Newark, N.J. ahead of a New York Derby match between the New York Red Bulls and newly-formed New York City Football Club .
Video of the wild scene, shot outside Bello's Pub and Grill, near Newark Penn Station shows groups of men chanting, "Who are you?" while punching, pushing and kicking each other and hurling garbage, bottles and even a sandwich board at each other.
A NJ Transit police cruiser approaches the scene but no word if there were any arrests.
The New York Red Bulls ended up beating New York City FC, 2-0 at Red Bull Arena.
Yay soccer!
