Kansas tries to shut down co-ed cleavage Twitter account

Even if you have only a flagging interest interest in college sports, there's a pretty good chance you might start rooting for the Kansas Jayhawks — at least at the @KUBoobs Twitter account.

The sexy Twitter account is operated by KU fans, and the name says it all.  It retweets user-submitted photos of boobs belonging to Kansas fans. That's pretty much the whole deal. Most of the cleavage in question are at least partially covered. The account has almost 50,000 followers, and it has grown into a small business, selling wristbands and other merchandise that includes the letters “KU.”

The University of Kansas isn't exactly hawking this idea to its fans. It is so against it, actually, that the operator of @KUBoobs on Monday received a cease-and-desist letter from the university.

"KU Boobs has been ordered to cease and desist by The University of Kansas by June 12, 2013," the account posted Monday.

"If you have ever wanted to submit a #kuboobs pic and never have, this is your last chance! #SaveKUboobs," the account tweeted last night.

The submissions came pouring in, and, within hours, the university began to ease back on its threat to put the kibosh on the account.

The account does not profess to be affiliated with the university in any official capacity, but it also doesn't make it explicitly clear that it isn't, and the school isn’t so much worried about the Twitter account as it is the sale of merchandise.

The website affiliated with the Twitter account, KUboobs is still bouncing around on the Internet.
