Reds fans start 'light wave' around Great American Ball Park (VIDEO)

People have different opinions on the merits of the wave and where the fan participatory action originated. While some believe it's a fun ballpark tradition, others believe it's it's an annoying distraction from your hot dog and beer.

During Thursday's s Indians-Reds game, fans at Great American Ball Park added a new twist to the customary arm swaying by adding light.

And you have to wonder: What took so long?

Nobody is quite sure where the original wave started back in the early eighties, but now we know who to blame for the iPhone light show the next time a mesmerized outfielder drops the ball because he thought he was at a Bon Jovi concert.
