Bruce Jenner name-change problem for Texas residents

Residents in Austin, Texas are wondering if their Bruce Jenner street signs might be getting a little alteration of their own pretty soon.

Homeowners on Bruce Jenner Lane in the Olympic Heights neighborhood have begun discussing over whether the name of their street will change to Caitlyn Jenner after the Olympic gold medalist revealed her new look on the cover of Vanity Fair on Monday.

“We just hope that someone is smart enough to realize all the trouble it’s going to cause for regular people if you change the name,” homeowner Ray Briggs told KVUE News.

“It might get a little confusing,” another neighbor added.

But everyone seemed generally supportive of the former male athlete's switch to Caitlyn.

“Should we put both of them there? Tape one underneath it?” Briggs laughed. “I thought about doing it myself.”

The City of Austin has a protocol for any requests to change a street name. And at least half of the residents on the street must approve the change as well as city council.

And it might have been worse. Instead of a lane — it could have been a cul-de-sac.
