ESPN New York's Andrew Marchand spoke with Masahiro Tanaka to find out more about the new $155 million New York Yankee. With the help of his translator, Shingo Horie, Tanaka spoke about his love for golf, his boyhood idol and how he feels about the music of his pop-star wife, Mai Satoda.
"I’m not necessarily a fan of my wife’s music," Tanaka said, according to Marchand.
The 25-year-old Tanaka said he likes other Japanese pop, but didn't elaborate — although he probably already said too much.
Sadota, Tanaka's 29-year-old wife, has been part of several music groups in Japan and hit it big when she appeared on a wacky Japanese game show called “Quiz! Hexagon," by giving the wrong answers to questions.
Here's one of her songs. I wonder if we'll be hearing it at Yankee Stadium this summer — on days when Tanaka isn't pitching, of course.
