The NRL match between the Gold Coast Titans and the North Queensland Cowboys was abruptly interrupted when a three-foot eastern brown snake made its way into the crowd and made the fans a little nervous.

Deadly reptiles are not so unusual Down Under, but this species is nothing to scrum with. The brown snake ranks as the second most venomous snake in the world, and its bites can be fatal to humans if not treated quickly.

The game continued despite the snake and it eventually disappeared into a drain pipe under the pitch after about 10 minutes — reminding everyone that this is really his home field.
