Deadly brown snake invades Australian rugby pitch (VIDEO)

Fans and players at a rugby match in Australia got a scare when a deadly snake slithered up into the stands.

The NRL match between the Gold Coast Titans and the North Queensland Cowboys was abruptly interrupted when a three-foot eastern brown snake made its way into the crowd and made the fans a little nervous.

And, from the sound of the video, the commentators were getting their jollies saying snaike!

Deadly reptiles are not so unusual Down Under, but this species is nothing to scrum with. The brown snake ranks as the second most venomous snake in the world, and its bites can be fatal to humans if not treated quickly.

The game continued despite the snake and it eventually disappeared into a drain pipe under the pitch after about 10 minutes — reminding everyone that this is really his home field.

The Titans went on to win 13-12 and nobody was bitten.
