Sailors tossed overboard during extreme sailing race (VIDEO)

There was a moment of real drama in race seven on the third day of competition at the Extreme Sailing Series event in Florianopolis, Brazil on Saturday, when the Dutch team SAP Extreme Sailing Team got hit by a sudden gust of wind.

It tipped the craft forward, nose first into the water, and the rapid deceleration caused SAP to capsize, throwing crew members around like rag dolls.

Medics were immediately on site to provide assistance, but Briton Pete Cumming suffered a minor injury to his lower ribs after falling the full height of the boat, landing on the boom.

The craft was recovered, but it's not certain yet if SAP can continue racing.
