Rex Ryan makes a stink about Jets' playoff chances

Rex Ryan has been known to thump his chest and make grand proclamations but now — with his team  nursing a 3-5 record but still only two games behind the Colts and Steelers in the AFC wild-card race — a more subdued New York Jets head coach is trying to make sense about the Jets playoff chances.  Or is it scents?

Ryan pointed out that it is possible for the Jets to get a wild-card berth and has been taking suggestions about changing things from his coaching staff before the Jets meet the Seahawks in Seattle.  The head coach wouldn't reveal what changes he will make after the bye week.

"I don't want to get into the specifics of it," said Ryan.  "If there's an advantage to be gained, then I want to gain that advantage without letting our opponent know."

Could fans be seeing something radical in the lackluster offense?

"I'm not going to say they're radical," he said.  "It's not like we're going to come out and run the polecat ... or maybe we will."

Some of the Jets players seem to like the taste of Ryan's Kool-aid and were just as colorful as a pitcher of the stuff.

"I feel confident we will do our best to get into the playoffs," said safety LaRon Landry.  ""That's what it's all about. [Bleep], man.  If we don't get into the playoffs it's a boring-ass season.  You know? [Bleep] that."

  1. Maybe they should quit the league and we would not have to watch them every week.
