Sounds like Aaron Rodgers took shot at Russell Wilson with 'God was a Packers fan' comment (VIDEO)

In his own right, Aaron Rodgers is somewhat revered in Green Bay. But, when it comes to everyone else's God, the Packers quarterback now thinks the Big Guy has more than a casual interest in his NFL team.

Answering a question after Sunday night Packers' 27-17 victory over the Seahawks at Lambeau Field, Rodgers said: "And then getting help from God. I think God was a Packers fan tonight, so he was taking care of us."

And Rodger's particular choice of words could only be taken as a shot at Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson — since it was eight months ago that the Seahawks beat the Packers in the NFC Championship Game — a dramatic comeback win that Wilson credited to God.

As you might recall, the devout Wilson was in joyful tears after the NFC Championship victory.

And Rodgers? He previously said on his ESPN Milwaukee radio show that he did not think any sort of Devine Intervention played a part in the outcome.

"I don't think God cares a whole lot about the outcome," Rodgers, the non-believer, said. "He cares about the people involved, but I don't think he's a big football fan."

Then why are church services always over by kickoff time Sunday afternoons?

Bill Belichick's Super Bowl kiss with daughter gets Twitter treatment

Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick was photographed celebrating his fourth Super Bowl victory Sunday night with an intimate kiss on the lips with his 30-year-old daughter, Amanda Belichick — and it created quite a stir.

The awkward lip-locking happened after the Patriots 28-24 victory over the Seahawks when Belichick's son and daughter met him on the field.

While the icky moment has now been seen by millions and ridiculed by many, the kiss has been defended by some online users as a sweet, intimate moment between family. Others have branded it as "disturbing," "aggressive" and "making out."

And Twitter gave it the treatment:

And don't ever mention deflated balls again.

Snow storm forces postponement of Patriots Super Bowl parade

While a couple of New England Patriots stars already got a Disneyland lap of honor in sunny California, the rest of the team will have to wait until Wednesday to get their Super Bowl parade back in snowy Boston.

A ferocious winter storm, which swept across the Northeast and dumped a record-breaking 40 inches of snow on the Patriots' hometown, has forced the postponement of Tuesday's scheduled victory procession.

“Due to today’s bad weather and the worsening forecast for tonight, the New England Patriots and the City of Boston have made the mutual decision to postpone the victory parade,” Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh said in a statement. “We thank everyone for their flexibility and patience during the planning of this parade and we look forward to celebrating with Patriots fans during better weather on Wednesday.”

The parade route — beginning at the Prudential Center, travelling down Boylston and Tremont streets, and ending at City Hall —will not change.

A storm warning was also in place for dozens of cities across the Northeast and Midwest as Boston saw its snowiest seven-day period in the city's history yesterday with 40.2 inches of snow breaking the old record of 31.2 inches in January, 1996. Monday alone saw over a foot of snow fall in one day- another record breaker- with 15.9 inches according to the National Weather Service.

Flights at Boston's Logan Airport were cancelled as the snow continued to fall and temperatures plunged to 12 degrees Monday. Boston schools were also to shut again on Tuesday.

Meanwhile,  while Boston was still digging out, Julian Edelman and Malcom Butler — whose last-second interception helped the Patriots clinch the title —  performed a special lap of honor with Mickey Mouse at the Disney theme park.

Just guessing that the Patriots fans, still partying after Sunday's stunning Super Bowl victory over the Seahawks, won't mind extending the celebration another day.

Seahawks fan who got 'Back to Back Champions' tattoo plans to keep it anyway

The diehard Seahawks fan who got a tattoo in December predicting that his team would win this year's Super Bowl has said he has no regrets about his cocky ink job and plans to keep it despite the Seahawks' devastating last minute loss to the Patriots.

The man, who goes by OC, had the tattoo done on Christmas Eve 2014 at a Florida tattoo parlor.

A transplant from Washington state who now lives in Jacksonville, OC had a Seahawks tattoo since his team played in their first Super Bowl in 2006, when they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Not satisfied with that, he paid $300 to add two Lombardi trophies and the words "Back To Back Champions" to his original tattoo.

Then, as the clock wound down during Sunday's game, OC's prediction almost came true — until Pet Carroll's fateful play call.

"I fell to the ground and put my head on the ground for about 30 seconds or something like that, I was just in shock," he told The Huffington Post.

Despite the shocking 28-24 defeat to the Patriots turning his prediction into a predicament, OC said he intends to keep his inaccurate tattoo anyway.

Maybe he could add an "Almost" to the original script?

Either way, at least the dude had a sense of humor about it:

NYPD precinct compares Seahawks' dim-witted call to drunk driving

It's being mocked as the worst call in the history of the Super Bowl and apparently someone at an NYPD precinct thinks it is a good deterrent to other bad choices.

Seconds after Pete Carroll's astonishing decision to throw at the end of Super Bowl XLIX, someone inside the 34th Precinct tweeted “Drinking and driving is an even worse idea than throwing a pass from the one-yard line.”

“Call a cab if you need one,” added the  post from the precinct’s official Twitter account, which features a picture of the commanding officer, Deputy Inspector Chris Morello — who later confirmed that he wrote the public service announcement.

Morello suggested he was drawing attention to two problems: drunk driving on Super Bowl Sunday and the questionable play call by the Seattle Seahawks as the team stood poised to win its second title in a row.

And the precinct doesn't choose sides when doling out advice about poor decisions. On Saturday, the upper-Manhattan stationhouse tweeted:

“Don't let drinking & driving cause you to have a deflated #SuperBowl Sunday,” the precinct tweeted on Saturday, referencing the Patriots' football deflating scandal.

Super Bowl balls will be kept under lock and key in the hours before game: Report

The NFL will keep Super Bowl balls under "added security" ahead of the game as the Deflategate investigation continues to dominate the headlines.

There will be 108 balls used in Arizona between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots on Sunday — 54 for each team and five times more than any other game. Both teams will practice with the designated set and break them in on Friday, but the NFL will take them into their custody afterwards before they are inspected by officials three hours before kick off.

During a press conference on Thursday, vice president of officiating Dean Blandino insisted that the heightened security wasn't a result of Deflategate but was normal protocol for the Super Bowl.

"There will be some added security just because of the environment we're in for this game,"said Blandino.
"The thing with the Super Bowl is during the first half, we rotate footballs in as much as possible, because then those balls are used for charity and NFL auction."

On Sunday, three hours before kickoff, the game balls will be delivered to the officials' locker room, where they will be inspected. Then the balls will be returned to an independently-chosen equipment manager, Tony Medlin of the Chicago Bears, who will bring them to the field and give them to ball attendants.

Asked whether officials will test balls mid-game, as they did on Jan. 18 after receiving a complaint, Blandino said there were no such plans. "If a situation comes up, we'll adjust, but we're just going to go through the normal protocol," he said.

Blandino also hinted at the possibility of a league-wide review into pre-game football preparations during the off season.

"They're not logged and that's certainly something that could be a thought," he added. "They're tested, they make sure that they're in that acceptable range and then they basically mark the football to say this is an acceptable football in that proper specification."

Seahawks players booed by fans at Pro Bowl — and they weren't even playing (VIDEO)

The Seattle Seahawks had no players participating the Pro Bowl because the team is happily playing in the Super Bowl next week.

But midway through the first quarter of Sunday night's NFL talent showcase, five Seahawks players — safety Kam Chancellor, running back Marshawn Lynch, cornerback Richard Sherman, safety Earl Thomas and linebacker Bobby Wagner — who were elected to the game were announced to the crowd.

And they were booed ... ruthlessly.

It's no surprise that the pro-Arizona Cardinals crowd drowned out NFL Network's Willie McGinest's interview during a break in the action, but the boobirds were merciless.

While no under-inflated balls at the game were used at the game, this probably pumped up a few Seahawks egos.

Seattle-area city bans cheese before Seahawks-Packers game: Report

Taking a direct slap at Green Bay Packers fans, better known as "cheeseheads," the manager of a city near Seattle has banned cheese in City Hall before Sunday's NFL playoff game between the Packers and Seattle Seahawks.

In what sounds like an episode of "Parks & Recreation," Ron Swanson, I mean Bainbridge Island City Manager Douglas Schulze, a devoted Seahawks fan, banned the possession or consumption of the dairy product inside the building in executive order 121212, named after the Seahawks' passionate "12th man" fan base.

The Seahawks host the Packers on Sunday in a conference championship game. The winner advances to the Super Bowl on Feb. 1 in Arizona.

"Due to the relationship between the Green Bay Packers, their fans, and cheese, the possession of and/or consumption of cheese or cheese flavored products shall be banned in Bainbridge Island City Hall on Friday, January 16, 2015," Schulze said in Wednesday's temporary order.

The order also allows government employees to participate in "Blue Friday" by wearing Seahawks jerseys and team colors, and to gather at lunch or on breaks for tailgating parties.

"This is purely just for fun and camaraderie and to bring together our staff," said city spokeswoman Kellie Stickney. "No fines or cheese-related strip searches."

Hmm. How long before Green Bay bans coffee?

Youth football team has some ugly ass Seahawks-inspired uniforms (PHOTO)

What youth football team wouldn't be thrilled wearing Seattle Seahawks-inspired uniforms?

Pretty much every one — unless they look like a new pair of pajamas.

NextImpulseSports.com’s Pete Blackburn spotted these youngsters wearing the Seahawks-themed unis and they don't look too happy.

Nighty night.

Seahawks' Ricardo Lockette takes epic dive against Eagles (VIDEO)

Seattle Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette used his best soccer flop in an attempt to trick the referees into thinking Eagles cornerback Cary Williams pushed him towards the end of the first quarter on Sunday.

The refs did not fall for his histrionics, but it's not like he didn't give it a good effort.

Seahawks' Bruce Irvin trolls 49ers with tweet after win

The Seattle Seahawks trounced the San Francisco 49ers with a 19-3 road win on Thanksgiving night, and linebacker Bruce Irvin decided to rub the victory in their arch-rival's social media faces.

Just after the game, Irvin trolled the Niners with this tweet, poking fun at 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh's team motto.

They meet again in a couple of weeks in Seattle. That should be fun.

49ers owner apologizes for team's loss to Seahawks: Report

The 49ers were trounced by their arch-rival Seahawks on Thanksgiving night.

At home in their new billion-dollar stadium.

On national TV.

And that's not a good combination when you pay for the whole enchilada.

So 49ers owner Jed York took to Twitter to express his frustration, apologizing to fans for the performance:

The Niners play their cross-bay rivals, the Oakland Raiders next week in a must-win game to keep up in the playoff picture while Jim Harbaugh's future hangs in the balance.

"We know what we have to do now," the 49ers head coach said right after Thursday's game. "We've got to come back and win them all. We'll set our jaw to that."

To reach the playoffs, his 7-5 team technically might not have to "win them all." But they must win three of the four games and somehow hope to gain the tiebreaking advantage over several other teams that will probably have 10 victories.

And who's apologizing?

Cop who absconded with $40,000 of Giants fans' Seattle road trip money found: Report

A despondent New York City cop who disappeared for two days after absconding with $40,000 fellow officers paid him for a road trip to see the Giants play the Seahawks in Seattle was finally found on Friday.

No one had seen or heard of NYPD officer Elisha Duncan and the cash since Wednesday, but cops patrolling his Bronx neighborhood found him in his car just before 8:30 p.m. Friday and apprehended the rogue cop, officials said.

The 14-year police veteran was originally spotted Wednesday at the Empire City Casino in nearby Yonkers — much to the dismay of his brother officers packing for the weekend trip.

Investigators turned up angry voicemails and threatening text messages from the officers duped into paying for a trip to Sunday’s road game between the Giants and the Super Bowl champions at CenturyLink Field after he had disappeared. The cost was $600 per cop, reported the N.Y. Daily News.

The 46-year-old Duncan was taken to a local hospital for observation, police said. It was not immediately clear where he had been — or if he still had the money his fellow officers had given him.

“We just found him. We haven’t interrogated him yet,” a police source said.

The Bronx cop wasn’t facing any criminal charges as of Friday night, cops said.

Cops theorized that the depressed Duncan, who reportedly has a checkered financial past, had gone on a gambling binge with the missing cash — or perhaps tried to hurt himself.

Two police sources said Duncan told relatives that he was depressed before he disappeared.

Still, probably not as depressed as his former friends — and Giants fans — will be after Sunday's game.

NFL deal prohibits players from wearing 'Beats by Dre' headphones: Report

Beats by Dre headphones may be dominating the market, but you won't be seeing them on NFL players — at least not on game day.

The NFL has secured a deal with BOSE that limits what players can wear during football-related activities. And that includes wearing Beats and all other headphones while on camera.

Essentially, players can’t wear the headphones any time the lights are on, according to Sporting News' Jasmine Watkins:

"The restriction of other headphone usage includes preseason training camps, practice sessions, game day, postgame interviews, and it remains in place until 90 minutes after the game has ended."

Players such as 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman — who both have appeared in Beats by Dre commercials — will now have abide by the new rules.

Players can still don the Dre earmuffs if they like — only by covering the logo.

Earlier this year, the World Cup banned their athletes from donning the headgear as well, saying that players could only wear headphones from their sponsor, Sony.

Beats issued a statement expressing their disappointment in the news:

"Over the last few years athletes have written Beats into their DNA as part of the pre-game ritual," the statement says. "Music can have a significant positive effect on an athlete's focus and mental preparedness and has become as important to performance as any other piece of equipment."

Seeing how NFL players usually react to newly imposed rules, something tells me they aren't going to take this partial ban lightly. So we might see some creative headphone covers down the road.

Super Bowl luxury suite going for $1 million: Report

Looking to keep warm at the Super Bowl could set you back a few bucks this year.

High-end Super Bowl suite prices hit the $1 million mark Monday — with frigid weather expected to push demand for the comfy indoor rooms at MetLife Stadium even higher.

An optimistic seller listed a luxurious climate-controlled suite for the Feb. 2 Seahawks-Broncos showdown at $1,019,000 on the secondary ticket market, and plenty of other sellers came in above the $500,000 mark, reported the N.Y. Post.

Many of the asking prices for Super Bowl XLVIII suites are double those of prior Super Bowls, which commanded $100,000 to $500,0000, market watchers said.

“The weather is a big factor,’’ Connor Gregoire, spokesman for Seatgeek.com, said of the sky-high prices for indoor seats. “It’s going to be cold, and being inside comes at a higher price.’’

An early forecast for the 6:30 p.m. EST  kickoff is for temperatures near the freezing mark.
Suite asking prices also are being driven by limited availability.

MetLife Stadium has 220 total suites, which go for about $350,000 a season, but about a third of the rooms were held off the market by NFL and Super Bowl brass, who sell them to sponsors or other high-rollers for upwards of $400,000.

The suites hold between 12 and 30 people, and include catering, bars, televisions, fireplaces, parking passes and pre-game party access.

The cheapest suite price among online sellers Monday was $318,000 for a room in the upper “nosebleed” area; most sellers were asking at least $500,000.

Even non-suite ticket offerings hit historic highs Monday. The asking price for the cheapest seat in the stadium was $2,096 on the secondary market. Face value for those seats is between $800 and $850.

The average ticket asking price was about $4,015.
