Tyson Fury storms ring to demand fight with Deontay Wilder after KO (VIDEO)

In a scene that was more WWE than WBC, Tyson Fury stormed into the ring and demanded a fight with Deontay Wilder after the heavyweight beat Artur Szpilka with a stunning knockout at Barclays Center Saturday night.

Fury, who beat Wladimir Klitschko in November, was in Brooklyn to watch WBC champion Wilder beat the Polish fighter — who was still sprawled out on the canvas — when Fury hopped into the ring.

And after Wilder won Saturday's fight with a devastating ninth round knockout, the British loudmouth jumped through the ropes, slammed down his jacket and stormed around the ring.

With Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis looking on, Wilder and Fury then squared up with the Brit taking the microphone and shouting, "There's only one Tyson Fury. What have you got to say about that Deontay?"

"We all know Fury, you are just a phony, this is just an act," responded Wilder. "You know where I am, you know what time, you know what place, I ain't scared of nobody, I'll come to your back yard."

After getting in the winner's face, Fury crowed, "Any time! Any place! Anywhere. I'll fight you in your back garden.

"Like I did Klitschko, I'll beat you, ya bum, You're a bum."

Security stepped in to separate the two fighters and Wilder hit back at Fury, saying: "You can run around like you're a preacher all you want but you step in the ring, I promise you I will baptize you.

"This is an act. You're not a real fighter. This is an act. I don't play this. You should be an actor. This ain't WWE. 

"I would love to fight him next. Unfortunately I have other mandatories due. Make the date Tyson, I promise you." 

Fury dramatically gestured toward the crowd as he was booed by the fans and then escorted out of the Barclays Center by security.

A fight between Wilder and Fury may not have been signed yet — but you have to admit there is finally some interest being hyped in the heavyweight division.

Barclays Center implements new booze policies at Islanders games after brawl (VIDEO)

Barclays Center is planning to cut off serving booze earlier during future games in response to a viral video of an ugly brawl at Tuesday's Islanders game inside the Brooklyn arena.

Several witnesses in attendance at the Islanders-Panthers game claimed Barclays Center security roughed up some fans.

The man and woman, who have not been identified, were reportedly standing in a handicapped area when security stepped in. A scuffle ensued and a video shows a man on the ground surrounded by a number of blazer-wearing security personnel. Although the video shows fans going after the security personnel as well.

As a result of the scuffle, Barclays Center issued a statement on Friday outlining new measures for its staff and patrons at Islanders games following an altercation in the stands during Tuesday’s game.

“On Tuesday night, December 15, there was an altercation during an Islanders game when arena staff tried to restrict guests from accessing an unauthorized area,” the statement said. “Management immediately initiated an investigation, including reviewing all videos, meeting with staff and speaking to fans who were involved in, or witnessed, the incident. Law enforcement authorities were also notified of the incident. Any parties found to have acted inappropriately or in violation of arena policies, and of course the law, will be dealt with accordingly.”

Barclays Center is also implementing a five-point plan going forward:

*Reinforce security and guest services training with staff.

*Further communicate Barclays Center alcohol policies to fans, which includes two-drink-per-purchase limit.

*End beer and alcohol sales at the end of the second intermission.

*Convene season-ticket-holder focus groups within 30 days to discuss arena-fan relations.

*Remind all guests of Barclays Center’s zero tolerance for any type of racial or discriminatory language or behavior.

There will be no changes to the alcohol policy for Nets games or other events.

The NHL does not have a league-wide policy on when to end alcohol sales and leaves it up to each venue to make the call on last call.

Islanders beat Devils wearing new Barclays Center black uniforms (PHOTO)

The Brooklynization of the New York Islanders continued Tuesday night after the team debuted its new alternate uniform featuring a black jersey with the white Islander NY logo on the chest against the New Jersey Devils.

As the Barclays Center brass continues its quest to integrate the former Long Islanders into their new surroundings (Translation: Make them more edgy and Brooklyny), the Islanders did something the Nets — Barclays' other regular tenant whose trendy black uniform they want the Isles' jersey to emulate — aren't doing. Namely win.

And the Islanders did it without the presence of franchise player John Tavares, who was unable to model the new uni after missed his third straight game with what was finally defined Tuesday morning as “flu-like symptoms.”

The Isles managed the victory without their captain, and they got it thanks to their tireless fourth line as Casey Cizikas scored the winner with 2:12 left in a 2-1 victory over their Hudson River rivals.

Nets-Bucks game was delayed because of a pickle on court (VIDEO)

The game between the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks was briefly delayed on Monday night because of a pickle. Yes, a pickle.

Some fan tried to garnish the Barclays Center court with the half-eaten dill, but the officials were all over it — like mustard on corned beef.

I'm guessing the Bucks relished their 103-96 win.

Islanders dump Barclays Center 'subway' goal horn for old 'Coliseum' honk

Every NHL fan knows the New York Islanders have moved from their original home on Long Island to Brooklyn to play at the Barclays Center. In addition to the change of venue, it seems the team is doing everything they can to Brooklynize the franchise by adding added new alternate uniforms which use the same color scheme (black, yawn) as the Nets and they also decided to change their goal horn as well.

While nothing was wrong with their old goal horn, which can be heard below, the team and the Barclays Center decided they wanted a goal celebration to better exemplify Brooklyn — a subway train honk.

While this is only a slight change, it is one that definitely has not been getting rave reviews on social media — especially from already feeling slighted Long Islanders.

But after some thought, the Barclays decide to derail the idea — albeit reluctantly.

Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark announced on ESPN New York radio's "The Michael Kay Show" that the traditional horn would remain for the team's first season in Brooklyn.

"I read between the lines," Yormark said, speaking of the mostly harsh, negative reaction to the new horn on social media. "We want the fans to have a great experience at Barclays Center. So after meeting with my team today and understanding the pros and cons of going with something that's a little bit more Brooklyn versus something that's been around for a while, we decided that for opening night we will go back to the goal horn that has been around for years.

"I'm not acquiescing to the Islanders fans, what I am doing is doing the right thing. And the right thing is welcoming the Islanders fans to Brooklyn, do it the right way, and we feel this is part of that process."

Kay asked Yormark to clarify whether he meant the old horn would be in place for opening night or for the entire season and Yormark said, "For the season, but at the same time I just want them to understand there has to be a balance of new and old in order to grow this fan base but also maintain the hardcore fan base that currently exists."

Yormark said that to date of the "total universe" of ticket buyers 33 percent are from Manhattan and Brooklyn and 30 percent from Nassau and Suffolk.

Let's see how long the arena keeps the traditional sounding horn before bowing to their new hipster fan base.

Knicks top draft pick brings young fan to tears (VIDEO)

Most New York Knicks fans in attendance at the Barclays Center on Thursday night were pretty vocal when their team picked 19-year-old Latvian forward Kristaps Porzingis with the No. 4 draft pick.

The pick triggered loud, long boos from their fans, but one young Knicks fan took it extremely hard.

Porzingis, a 7-foot-1 forward is widely considered the biggest gamble at his position of the 2015 NBA draft — although one with huge potential.

But man, do those memories of another foreign big man, Frederic Weis, still linger.



“Lot of fans weren’t happy they drafted me,” Porzingis said. “I have to do everything in my hands to turn those booing fans into clapping fans.”

Look at it this way kid, at least you still have plenty of years ahead of you to see it happen.

Nets drawing interest from China, Qatar and Hollywood: Report

It looks like Mikhail Prokhorov's five-year window for a Brooklyn Nets championship is about to close without a title, even though the Russian billionaire will still come out a big winner himself — at least financially.

The Nets are for sale and there is no shortage of suitors showing interest as the free-spending Prokhorov gets ready for his own big payday.

Via the New York Post:

Chinese conglomerate Fosun and the Qatari government’s investment fund have signaled an interest in buying the pro basketball team from majority owner and Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov.

Interest is also coming from music mogul David Geffen, who considered a bid for the LA Clippers last year before the NBA team was sold for a record $2 billion to former Microsoft chieftain Steve Ballmer.

Even former Time Warner boss Dick Parsons, who was interim chief executive of the Clippers when the NBA forced then-owner Donald Sterling to sell the team, has eyed the Nets, sources said.

While Parsons has a long business resumé and the likely blessing of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, he doesn’t have the cash and would need to line up investors, they added.

At least two wealthy US families have also expressed an interest in the Nets.

Prokhorov, the first foreign owner of an NBA team, holds 80 percent of the club and 45 percent of the Barclays Center, its 2 1/2-year-old arena which next season will house hockey’s New York Islanders. Only the Nets franchise is reportedly for sale.

The NBA hasn’t given Prokhorov, who has controlling ownership of the Nets, clarity on whether he can sell his stake in the team separately from his stake in the Barclays Arena, where the Nets play, said one banker close to the sale process.

The league requires an owner to sell the same ratio of team and arena ownership as he originally bought, although it can waive that rule.

The NBA told Prokhorov he had to sell both. But the banker told The Post the league hasn’t made a decision.

“The NBA never told the Nets to sell them together,” the banker said, adding the league has promised Prokhorov a decision soon.

Prokhorov does not want to sell them as a package because fewer buyers can afford both. The Barclays Center alone would be $1.2 billion on top of the team’s $2 billion asking price.

Meanwhile, Forest City Enterprises, which owns the remaining 20 percent of the team, is also shopping its majority 55 percent stake in the Barclays Center.

It's hard to put a price tag on the team, which valuations expert Peter Schwartz thinks it is worth about $1.3 billion. The arena is worth even more, said Schwartz, a managing director at Boston-based Christie & Associates, adding that the commodity tycoon’s combined stake is worth about $2 billion.

Because of the Nets home in the No. 1 U.S. media market, and the infrequency with which marquee sports franchises become available, the Nets could even get more than the record $2 billion former Microsoft Corp. Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer paid for the Los Angeles Clippers in a highly-publicized auction sparked by racist comments made by former owner Donald Sterling.

The Nets and Forest City declined to comment. The NBA and AEG did not return calls to The Post.

Brewery debuts 'Barn Rocker' beer for Islanders' last season at Nassau Coliseum

A Long Island-based brewery has partnered with Nassau Coliseum to offer a barley and hops tribute to the New York Islanders' last season inside the soon-to-be-vacated cement slab out in Hempstead.

“Barn Rocker” ale made its debut during Friday night's game against the Penguins. The beer's name commemorates the team’s final season at its current venue — known as "The Old Barn."

Oyster Bay Brewing Co. co-owners, Gabe Haim and Ryan Schlotter, who are fans of both the Islanders and beer, created the brew as a way to "do something special" for the final season at the 42-year-old Coliseum, where "Rock the Barn" has been a rallying cry. It debuted at the brewery earlier this month and was poured during a viewing party there for Tuesday's Islanders-Rangers game.

Haim said it was "created and brewed especially for the purpose of pouring it at a sports event . . . It's very light, really easy to drink, but with a lot of flavor. You can sit there and have a bunch of them."

OBB is not an official partner of the team, which means the keg will probably be dry when the Islanders move to the Barclays Center next season.

Not to worry beer guzzlers. It won't be hard finding another craft brew in Hipsterville, Brooklyn.

Nets pay tribute to deceased 'Superfan' with custom warmup suits (VIDEO)

The Brooklyn Nets organization honored superfan Jeffrey Gamblero, who died on Sunday night, with a nice tribute before Tuesday night's game against the Miami Heat.

All of the Nets players and staff wore customized warmups to honor the colorful Gamblero — real name Jeffrey Vanchiro — the 38-year-old former poker star who tragically died after tumbling from a two-story Brooklyn building.

The shirts featured the No. 44 in neon colors as a nod to Gamberlo's customized jersey and bright shirts he would wear underneath at almost all Nets home games.

The Nets also tweeted a photo of the players and fans at Barclays Center when they honored Gamblero with a moment of silence.

Gamblero went down in Nets fan history for infamously being carried out of Madison Square Garden by security on Dec. 2 — after Knicks fans complained that he was being too rambunctious in the stands.

The video (below) of Gamblero being escorted out, holding his prosthetic leg, will  probably be his legacy. No pun intended.

LeBron James criticized for draping sweaty arm around Kate Middleton's shoulder (PHOTO)

LeBron James may be considered The King on an NBA basketball court but when it comes to mixing with the real royals, he might need a lesson in protocol.

James got a prized snapshot for his photo album when he posed with Prince William and Kate Middleton after the Cavaliers-Nets game in Brooklyn last night, but he also got called for a flagrant foul by putting his arm around the Duchess of Cambridge's shoulder during the shot.

Prince William and Kate stood with James inside Barclay's Center after the game Monday night — where they were presented with a tiny jersey for Prince George.

But as the camera flashes went off, a sweaty James put his arm around the Duchess' shoulder — a huge breach in etiquette.

Etiquette expert William Hanson told MailOnline: "Although I am sure the Duchess of Cambridge won’t have worried about it, Mr James should not have put his arm around her. 

"Americans are much more tactile than we Brits and this is another example of an American being too touchy feely with British royalty. You’d have think they’d have learned by now." 

Appearing alongside the royals un-showered and in a sweaty top is something many regard as bad form. 

"A shower would have been preferable but he had just finished a game," said Hanson. "So even more reason for him not have opened his pits by lifting his arm and placing it around Her Royal Highness!"

LeBron James wants an ‘I can’t breathe’ t-shirt for Cavs-Nets game: Report

While many eyes will be looking up at a heavily guarded private suite occupied by members of the royal family at Barclays Center Monday night, one member of NBA royalty will try and get people to notice him as a man of the people down below during pre-game warmups.

LeBron James said he is looking for a way for a way to protest the Eric Garner decision, and wants to get a "#I can't breathe" t-shirt to wear before the Cavaliers take on the Nets.

Britain's Prince William and his pregnant wife, Duchess Kate Middleton, will be in attendance for the game featuring King James himself on this already over-hyped night.

James has already spoken out about the death of Garner and a grand jury‘s controversial decision not to indict the responsible officers.

On Sunday, James was asked about the t-shirt worn recently by Bulls point guard Derrick Rose.

The message on Rose’s shirt, “I can’t breathe,” is a reference to Garner’s words as he was choked while being arrested for selling untaxed cigarettes. Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush also wore a shirt with the phrase written on it on Sunday.

“It was spectacular,” James said about Rose’s shirt, which he wore in pre-game warmups Saturday night. “I loved it. I’m looking for one.”

It shouldn't be hard to find. They’re reportedly going for $9.99 on eBay.

Will he wear it Monday at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, where the Royals will be in attendance and where protesters gathered outside just days earlier?

Even without Jay Z and Beyonce who will also be there, expect a wild scene.

Gregg Popovich tells Danny Green to 'Shut the f--k up' (VIDEO)

After coming back from a 14-point deficit, the Spurs looked like they were ready for an amazing victory against the Nets at Barclays Center Wednesday night.

That was until Danny Green made a last second foul that sent Spurs coach Gregg Popovich into a frenzy.

A livid Pops started screaming "Shut the f--- up" at Green even before the players got near the bench.

Ref gets knocked out by player's elbow during tip-off (VIDEO)

Veteran basketball referee Rick Crawford was officiating the consolation game between LaSalle and Vanderbilt at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday. Shortly after the tip off, he was inadvertently struck in the face by Vanderbilt's center Damian Jones' elbow. 

Crawford immediately went down and was on the hardwood with both of his eyes open. Play was stopped and the crowd went silent as he and was quickly seen to be paramedics. Crawford was put in a neck brace and also suffered from bruises to his eye before he was stretchered off the court and taken to hospital. 

A Barclays Center spokesman said Crawford was talking as he made his way to the hospital and could remember what happened.

Deadspin noted that shortly after the incident, the Vanderbilt Men's Basketball team tweeted that "it looks like Crawford is coherent and moving extremities." 

The Vanderbilt Commodores went on to win the game 68-55. 

Here's to a speedy recovery, Craw.

Jason Kidd returns to chorus of boos in Brooklyn (VIDEO)

In Jason Kidd’s first game back in Brooklyn since leaving the Nets in June, fans welcomed him back with a chorus of boos Wednesday night at Barclays Center.

Kidd. who left this past summer to be the head coach for the Milwaukee Bucks, was booed and taunted as a traitor in the arena where his retired jersey hangs in the rafters.

It wasn't exactly a Mr. Kotter moment.

But it seemed like neither team wanted Kidd's return to end as the Bucks outlasted the Nets, 122-118, in three entertaining overtimes.

"I have bad hearing anyways. So I thought whatever the greeting was, it's about the players," Kidd said after the game. "People don't pay to come see the coach; they come to see the guys play."

NBA donated $1 million for William and Kate to attend Cavs-Nets game: Report

In a bid to make the bring basketball to an even bigger worldwide audience, the NBA is donating $1 million dollars to Prince William and  Kate Middleton's charity for attending a Cavaliers-Nets game featuring LeBron James at Brooklyn's Barclays Center next month.

The NBA honchos' generous donation to the Duke and Duchess' new conservation charity is reportedly a big "thank you" for attending the already high-profile game during the Royal Couple's three-day trip in New York City, according to MailOnline.

The decision by the couple to attend that particular game means the Royals will get to meet King James — still the NBA's reigning star.

NBA insiders believe that the image of the royal couple at the game inside Barclays Center will be shown around the world, helping the sport gain new fans.

"It's an incredible publicity coup for the NBA,'"an insider told MailOnline.

"The images of them all together will be seen all over the world — it's a marketing man's dream. A million bucks is a small price to pay for the publicity the NBA's going to get."

Friends say that Kate and William had expressed an interest in attending a basketball game at legendary Madison Square Garden when they were planning their December 7-9 visit to the city.

But the couple snubbed the New York Knicks vs. Portland Trailblazers game on December 7 in favor of seeing LeBron play the following night.

"Kate and William are both big sports fans'," explained the friend. 

"And although basketball isn't big in Britain, William has heard of LeBron James... although Kate apparently had no idea who he was!"

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will also be present at the game and is said to be beside himself with excitement at the public relations coup.

And while most attention-seeking celebrities usually sit courtside, the Duke and pregnant Duchess are expected to be viewing the game from the relative safety of a private box.

They will probably meet music royalty when Beyonce and former Nets minority owner, Jay Z, are expected take in the action on the same night.

That might be the photo-op of the year.

Zamboni door gets assist on Maple Leafs goal against Islanders (VIDEO)

Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum has meant a lot of good times for the New York Islanders — well, 30 some-odd years ago — and lately the old building has been a little cranky.

Tuesday night against  the Toronto Maple Leafs the 42-year-old structure might have said what a lot of Islander fans are thinking since the team announced it will move to Brooklyn next season — 'There's the door.'

And here's an assist too.

During the first period, after the puck rimmed around the boards in the Islanders' zone last night, it hit off the Zamboni doors and bounced away from Isles defenseman Thomas Hickey. Then it went right to the stick of Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel. He then sent it to James van Riemsdyk who snuck a shot past Jaroslav Halak to tie the score 1-1.

Maybe the Barclays Center doors will be friendlier to the Isles when they move there next season — that's if anyone can see them from the obstructed-view section in the stands.

Rockets players harassed gay worker at Barclays Center, says lawsuit

A gay catering service worker claims he was taunted with homophobic slurs by Houston Rockets basketball players while setting up a buffet in their locker room at Barclays Center last year.

Rasean Tate says in a federal discrimination lawsuit that his back was turned when the insults were directed his way, reports The New York Post.

But he heard them.

The 28-year-old Tate claims that he was setting up the buffet in the visiting Rockets locker room before a game on Feb. 22, 2013, when he was all but chased from the area because he was gay.

“When the plaintiff’s back was turned to defendant Rockets players, he began to hear laughter and taunting voices saying ‘get this f—– out of here!’ ” according to the suit, and ” ‘He’s trying to catch a sneaky-peeky!’…

“These series of comments were repeated a number of times by defendant Rockets players and staff,” claims the suit. “Plaintiff could hear defendant Rockets players overlapping voices and laughter.”

The lawsuit claims Tate was phased out of locker room duty and demoted by Levy Restaurants (the company that handles catering at Barclays center) after he complained and he was given fewer hours to work because of it.

“It was loud and gregarious and there were overlapping voices,” Tate’s lawyer Marjorie Masidor told The Post.

A representative of the Nets allegedly witnessed the incident and told Tate to leave the locker room and that he would “take care of it,” according to the suit.

“I think there’s a bit of irony that this occurred in the same place where a person’s (Jason Collins) sexual identity is accepted and welcomed with openness, while in the same place a visiting team chose to degrade Rasean and set us back,” Masidor said.

Among the players on the Rockets roster for the game were James Harden, Carlos Delfino and Jeremy Lin. The lawyer would not say whether Tate could identify anyone who made the comments.

The Rockets organization and Levy were named in the suit. No Rockets players, Barclays Center or the Nets were named in the legal action.

Islanders won't leave Long Island a year early: Report

The Islanders will honor their lease with Nassau County and remain at their Nassau Coliseum home through the end of the 2014-15 hockey season before moving to Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The Islanders had preliminary discussions in recent months about the team leaving the Uniondale, Long Island arena at the end of this season, but the conversations never advanced and the idea was scrapped, reports Newsday.

Islanders owner Charles Wang announced in October 2012 that after repeated attempts to build a new arena for his club in Nassau, the team would move to Brooklyn beginning with the 2015-16 season.

Developer Bruce Ratner, who built the Barclays Center and won the rights last year to redevelop the Coliseum, said in August that it was "highly likely" the Islanders would complete their lease and remain in Nassau through 2015.

But Ratner, executive chairman of Forest City Ratner Cos., and Islanders officials had refused to close the window on an early departure, leading to speculation on social media by fans that Long Island's only major league sports franchise could exit earlier than expected. Especially after the Islanders and Devils played the first NHL game ever — an exhibition match — at Barclays in September.

In a statement Wednesday, Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano said he was "looking forward to a successful 2015 Islanders hockey season."

The Islanders have leases with Nassau County and SMG, the Coliseum's Pennsylvania-based property manager. All three parties would have had to sign off on a deal allowing the Islanders to leave a year early.

Islanders senior vice president Michael Picker and SMG officials did not return calls for comment.

A 2011 proposal by Mangano to authorize spending $400 million in public funds to construct a new arena — and hopefully keep the team — was voted down by taxpayers.

Ratner was selected by Mangano to renovate the Coliseum and will spend $229 million in private funds to rebuild the 41-year-old arena and construct an adjacent plaza with attractions including restaurants, shopping, a movie theater and an outdoor amphitheater.

Paul Pierce gets flagrant-two foul and ejection for clothesline of George Hill (VIDEO)

Late in the third quarter and with the Nets trailing by 19 points to the Pacers at Barclays Center, Paul Pierce took out his frustration with a cheap foul on George Hill.

As Hill raced toward the other end for what appeared to be an easy fast break score, Pierce chased him down to give a no-layup type of foul, but since he caught Hill in the head and then followed through by taking him down around the neck, the officials ruled it a flagrant-two, which comes with it an automatic ejection.

Pierce—who was already 0-for-7 from the field — might have been trying to send a message to Hill, but only showed his 36-year-old legs can't keep up with the young Pacers anymore.

It was more Get off my lawn! than Not in my house!

Hill managed to keep control of the ball and, more surprisingly, kept his cool after the unnecessary foul.

Former Beatle Paul McCartney took in a game at the Barclays Center on Monday night. The Brooklyn Nets won 130-94, but Sir Paul was more concerned with getting a free T-shirt shot from a cannon.





It just goes to show that the world's richest rock star — and performer who sold out two shows at the venue last spring in like, ten minutes  — is just like any other fan.

He wants free stuff.
