LeBron James crushes golfer Jason Day's wife during sideline collision (VIDEO)

NBA superstar LeBron James collided with the wife of Australian golfer Jason Day in a scary sideline incident at a Cleveland Cavaliers home game on Thursday night.

Ellie Day, sitting courtside with her husband, was stretchered off and taken to hospital after James, chasing a loose ball, crashed into her seat, sending both of them sprawling backwards to the floor.

The game was halted for several minutes as medical personnel attended to Day, with James and his Cavaliers teammates looking on. She just gave birth to the couple's second child, a daughter, in November.

Day and his wife, who have a home in Columbus, Ohio, were sitting a few feet from the sideline when the incident occurred late in the fourth quarter of the Cavaliers' 104-100 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"It wasn't anything out of the usual besides the injury," James said of the incident. "But to me, obviously her health is very important and hopefully she's doing well."

"The guys told me she's doing great," James added, although there was no official word from the Cavaliers on Ellie Day's condition at the time.

"I was going for a loose ball. Just trying to keep a possession going and I hate that was the end result of it."

Day was reported to be alert and talking as her husband accompanied her to an ambulance, but was hospitalized overnight for observation before being released early Friday morning.

The 28-year-old Day won his first major title at the PGA Championship in August, twice ascended to number one in the world rankings this year and won Australian sport's prestigious Don Award in October.

Cavaliers coach David Blatt said he had long been concerned about the danger of players like James, six-foot-eight and 266 pounds, colliding with courtside spectators.

After the game, James tweeted his best wishes and apology to the couple.

Timberwolves' Corey Brewer takes leisurely stroll on his way to dunk (VIDEO)

As the first quarter of their game against Oklahoma City was winding down, Minnesota's Corey Brewer stole the ball from Kevin Durant, which started a fast break.

Even before the Timberwolves swingman took off for the dunk, Brewer shuffled his feet and then took a few more steps before making the bunny shot. The announcers counted 13 steps.

That isn't traveling, it's a stroll through the park.

Derek Fisher will wait a few days before deciding future: Report

Derek Fisher is pretty sure his NBA playing days probably ended Saturday night after the Thunder were ousted from the playoffs. But now the doors have possibly opened for new career as head coach of the New York Knicks or Los Angeles Lakers. Again — possibly.

The 17-year NBA veteran, who lingered on the court after the Thunder loss, said he had too much respect for his teammates to talk about any coaching job, adding he’ll need a few days to make up his mind.

“I can’t go there tonight,’’ Fisher said in the Thunder locker room. “It’s too fresh of a wound. It’s possible this truly symbolizes the end of a very long career. I don’t think [with] the emotions I’m feeling now it’s smart to bet on what I’m going to do next. I’m definitely going to take it seriously and consider my options, consider what’s best and go from there. There’s a right way to wrap this season up and show it the proper respect.’’

Fisher has been projected as a coaching candidate with his former team in Los Angeles and with his former coach, Phil Jackson, in New York since the playoffs began.

The Lakers and Knicks could move forward with any plans to interview him now that the Thunder's season has ended. Fisher said he has not directly talked to Jackson or any other NBA executive. Jackson told New York media members last Friday that he had not spoken to Fisher.

“There are a number of people who will be impacted by the decision I do make,’’ Fisher said. 

“Whether I continue to play or do something else within the game, there’s a lot at stake.’’

After Steve Kerr turned down the Knicks' coaching job to go to the Golden State Warriors, one NBA source said the Knicks would likely stop its search until Fisher was available. The Lakers have already interviewed several coach candidates.

The Thunder still hope he comes back, possibly as a player/assistant coach, but that seems doubtful if a head coaching job is on the table.

Mike Woodson still expects Knicks to win division: Report

Only a day removed from the 29-point Christmas Day rout by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Mike Woodson, treated the New York Knicks’ current struggles like a long forgotten memory and predicted a second straight Atlantic Division title following practice on Thursday.

“We won it last year,” the beleaguered head coach said, “and I expect us to win it this year.”

Woodson’s confidence was based on the fact that the 9-and-19 Knicks play in a division that is so weak that they are 6-6 in their past 12 games. Forgetting that most of those wins have come against some of the worst teams in the NBA helped Woodson keep his sunny outlook. 

Woodson asked himself rhetorically, “Do I see some light at the end of the tunnel?” and answered, “I do.”

The mediocrity of the division and a freakish amount of injuries to key players have probably helped excuse Woodson from losing his job—for now.

"The bottom line is I'm the coach of this team," he said. "I have very high standards in terms of what I do and what I expect players to do. And it starts with me."

The Knicks have a chance to gain some ground Friday night when they begin a home-and-home with the division-leading Toronto Raptors at Madison Square Garden.

Woodson knows that the 11-15 Raptors are just three games ahead of the Knicks and his team can make a big statement this weekend.

But it's still unclear if Carmelo Anthony, who didn't practice because of a sprained left ankle that kept him out of the Christmas Day game, will play. Woodson called him "day-to-day."

"Eventually we’ll get healthy and we’ll see how it all plays out," Woodson said. "The beauty about all of this that we’re going through is nobody’s running away with it in our division and I’m pushing our team to win our division still."

Going into Friday night's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder without a healthy point guard left the Lakers' star dishing the rock. Bryant took over running the offense and doled out 13 assists during the game. But none of them were as creative as him passing the ball off Serge Ibaka's back to Jordan Hill for the easy dunk.



Four more Kobes would have been helpful. The Lakers lost by 25.

Warriors' Iguodala hits buzzer-beater to cap off wild victory against Thunder (VIDEO)

Andre Iguodala's buzzer-beater capped off a wild finish to Thursday night's Thunder-Warriors game, giving Golden State a 116-115 win.

Before Iguodala's game-winning bucket, Russell Westbrook sank a deep three-pointer for a 115-114 Thunder lead, turning Oracle Arena quiet as a graveyard.

But Westbrook left 2.3 seconds on the clock and the Warriors had only a sliver of hope to win. After a timeout, Klay Thompson found a breaking Iguodala, who turned and shot the fade-away prayer to stun the Thunder.

Pandemonium ensued as the Warriors mobbed their hero at center court.

Golden State is good, but had been waiting for that statement victory so far this season. Statement made loud and clear.

NBA teams to wear sleeved uniforms for Christmas Day games

If you thought the NBA's color-on-color Christmas Day uniforms were bad last year, you'll probably think the league's plans for this season's holiday games are just as ho-ho-horrible.

Paul Lukas of Uni Watch confirmed on Thursday in a tweet that the NBA will unveil new sleeved uniforms on Christmas Day.

The uniforms, which look more like warm-up shirts, were first spotted by SNY's Brian Erni who saw the jerseys on eBay.

The NBA has experimented with sleeved jerseys in the past, as the Golden State Warriors donned them last season, looking more like a volleyball team instead of professional basketball players.

The one improvement is that the jerseys this year will include numbers on the sleeve, whereas last year's Warriors jerseys had blank sleeves.

Each year, Christmas Day is filled with marquee NBA matchups, and this year is no different. Many of the NBA's best teams, including the defending champion Miami Heat, will play in a slate of five games.

Kendrick Perkins dislocates finger, tries to fix it himself (VIDEO)

The Oklahoma City Thunder opened the NBA’s 2013 preseason schedule on Saturday morning, playing Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul as part of the Global Games that will see teams play eight preseason games in eight cities, in six countries and territories.

The Thunder was already without Russell Westbrook — who will now miss at least the first month of the regular season after undergoing an additional knee surgery last week — and lost the services of Kendrick Perkins late in the first half, although to something that looks to be far less serious.

Perkins dislocated a finger while battling for a rebound, and as seen in the video clip, he did his best to pop it back in place himself. He was apparently unsuccessful, however, as Perkins didn’t start the second half; rookie Steven Adams got the nod in his place.

The Thunder led 48-42 at the break, behind 20 points and six rebounds from Kevin Durant.

Kevin Durant is in France as part of a Nike promotional tour of Europe where he appeared on a French talk show doing some sort of stupid human tricks segment.

This French version of Jimmy Fallon had the bamboozled Oklahoma City Thunder star shoot colored ping-pong balls into a basket on top of his host's head while answering questions he was asked in French. Durant looks like he'd actually rather be jumping off the Eiffel Tower onto a giant souffle than endure the bizarre interview.

He's probably thinking, Where's Tony Parker when you need him?

Thunder's DeAndre Liggins accused of dropping Xbox 360 on girlfriend's head

Oklahoma City Thunder guard DeAndre Liggins has been accused of beating up his girlfriend Jasmine Horton — allegedly punching her and dropping a fan and an Xbox 360 on her as their 2-year-old son looked on.

Liggins has been accused of beating Horton and was released from jail on an $8,000 bail.

According to The Oklahoman, Liggins supposedly punched her, and dropped a fan and the heavy game box on her head. Their 2-year-old son was in the room during the incident according to the probable cause affidavit filed on Tuesday.

Horton, who describes herself as Liggins' girlfriend, said Liggins hit her in the head with his hand and then punched her in the head when she fell on the ground, according to the affidavit filed in Oklahoma County District Court. 

Horton claims she locked herself in a bedroom before Liggins reportedly kicked in the door, pushed her down and assaulted her, according to the affidavit.

Horton had injuries on her hands and fingers as well as bruises on her chest and back. Liggins was booked on Saturday under domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic abuse in the presence of a minor.

The general manager of the Thunder Sam Presti said in a statement, "We reiterate the serious nature of this issue," before stating that the Thunder has "no further comment at this time."

Nick Collison photobombs three kids buried in the sand

Nobody is off limits for a photobomb when Nick Collison is around. Even little children are worthy targets of the sneaky snapshot prank when the Oklahoma City Thunder forward is lurking about.

Collison interrupted this shot while the three kids were half buried in a pristine Hawaiian beach.

The threesome became a party of four when Collison jumped into the frame and was snapped, in mid-air, behind the smiling children.

Captioned "Best photobomb yet?" the playful NBA player posted the fun photo to his Instagram account a few days ago.

None of his other photos appear to be of the visual gag, but if his user photo on his Twitter site is any indication, Collison is a pretty funny guy.

Female fan touches Kris Humphries, gets grossed out

Fans love to get up close and personal with sports stars but when one woman actually got to make physical contact with Kris Humphries, the Oklahoma City Thunder fan seemed to get a little grossed out by doing so.

The Brooklyn Nets forward was making his way to the locker room — after turning his ankle in the final minutes of the Nets 110-93 victory over the Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena — when the woman reached over the railing and patted him on his bare shoulder — getting a fist full of Humphries' sweat.

After the brief encounter, the woman twists her face into a skeeved-out look and then proceeds to wipe her hands on the shirt of the innocent male companion standing next to her.

At least Kim Kardashian knows the feeling.

LeBron gives headband to grateful fan

While leaving the court after last night's Game 3 victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Miami Heat star, LeBron James, made one young lady's night more memorable by giving her his sweaty headband.

After the 91-85 win, James handed the white terry-cloth head gear to the swooning young woman who clutched the souvenir to her chest before putting it around her head.

James wasn't so giving to the Thunder.  He finished the game with 29 points and 14 rebounds to give his team a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals.

Jon Barry is not well liked in Miami

A spectator with good timing and bad handwriting jumped behind the postgame crew at AmericanAirlines Arena— after the Heat defeated the Thunder— and held up a handwritten "Jon Barry Sucks" sign with Barry sitting right there on live television.

While Magic Johnson was droning on about the 91-85 win, a young man held up the crudely made sign for a few seconds before security made him stop and leave the area.



It looks like Barry didn't see the sign but he would have probably had a hard time reading the chicken-scratch comment if he did.

Spurs' Tony Parker was injured in Chris Brown-Drake bar brawl

Tony Parker might have more than one reason to wish his San Antonio Spurs team was still in the NBA playoffs.  The NBA star was in the wrong place at the wrong time early Thursday morning when he suffered a scratched retina on one of his eyes during the bottle-hurling brawl at a New York City nightclub involving rappers Chris Brown and Drake— reportedly over the singer Rihanna.

Parker , wearing dark glasses, described the incident Friday in Paris during a news conference posted on YouTube.  He said he expects to be sidelined about a week while the French Olympic team prepares for the London Games.

The Spurs' guard said he was wearing a "therapeutic" contact lens and had to go to an emergency room after arriving in Paris.

The French basketball star described the melee and aftermath: "I was with my friend Chris Brown and me and my friends took some punches, so I'll be missing the start of the French team because I can't do anything for a week except keep the lens in and then take drops."

Those relatively quiet nights banging elbows against the Oklahoma City Thunder probably don't seem so bad now.  The Spurs were knocked out of the playoffs by the Thunder 4-2 last week.

The fight turned into a bottle-tossing free-for-all and police said Brown, his girlfriend and his bodyguard were among several people injured in the fight at the Soho club.

Parker said, "They started throwing bottles everywhere.  I don't know what happened.  At first it was OK, but then it started getting worse and when the plane landed it was really hurting so I went straight to the ER."

The glass and bottle-throwing was so bad, a NYC council member is looking to curb "bottle service" at all city clubs and bars.

The San Antonio Spurs declined comment.

Parker is used to making the gossip pages with his ex-wife, actress Eva Longoria, but I'm sure he never hoped he'd be making headlines linking him to Rihanna in this scenario.

Lil' Wayne gets courtside seat for NBA Finals but still complains

Lil' Wayne sounds like he still doesn't appreciate Chesapeake Energy Arena but that didn't stop him from sitting courtside at Game 1 of the NBA Finals— between The Oklahoma City Thunder-Miami Heat on Tuesday night— and still complain about the "Oklahoma way."

Just what does it take to make this guy happy?  He gets a seat close enough to shave James Harden's beard and still feels slighted.

After the game, he grumbled about it, tweeting that the staff had "again" treated him "like s---."

He was presumably referring to the May 31 game at Oklahoma City's Chesapeake Energy Arena between the Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals when he was denied entry.

The arena said he was stopped at the door that night because the game was sold out and he didn't have a ticket.  Lil' Wayne claims the real reason was because the other ticket-holders didn't want the rapper there.

Lil' Whine— after that rebuff— had been advised by his manager to never set foot in the arena again— as a performer or spectator.

Now, the singer returns and says he hopes the Heat will blow out the Thunder— which won't happen because OKC already won the first game.

Lil' Wayne didn't specify exactly how the arena or its staff mistreated him in his front-row seat on Tuesday night or if he plans on attending Game 2 and face more abuse and disrespect.

What a glutton for punishment.

Lil' Wayne says he feels 'unwanted' by the 'Oklahoma way'

Rapper Lil' Wayne said that— after being denied a ticket to see Thursday's NBA playoff game at Chesapeake Energy Arena— he felt unwelcome and "unwanted" at the Oklahoma City arena and isn't planning to return.

You may have heard about the tweets by Lil' Wayne— after the Oklahoma City Thunder told the miffed rapper he couldn't get a seat at Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs— where he said he was "denied by the team to be in the arena."

Thunder management made a brief statement about the singer's rant:

"We are completely sold out, had nothing available at all.  We would love to have him at our game, but he needs a ticket."

To which Lil' Wayne sent a text message to ESPN stating:

"They denied me the tix.  Didnt want me in their arena.  They also said if I do come , I can only sit behind the bench, not on the floor & that I wouldn't be able to get any special escort nor entrance.  They said its the "Oklahoma way."

It sounds like the "Oklahoma way" really means the game was 100% sold out but that's not how Lil' Wayne sees it.

The rapper said two Thunder players— Kevin Durant and James Harden— have reached out to offer him tickets to Saturday's fourth game of the NBA playoffs in Oklahoma City.

"That's not the point, though," he told the Associated Press on Friday night.  "It's the players stepping up but of course the players aren't white.  I don't want to be sitting there on behalf of you and I'm sitting next to a (person) that's like 'I don't want this (guy) sitting next to me.' (Forget) you ... I'm in Forbes," he said laughing.

The singer says he routinely buys tickets for such games "from this guy named Mike."  He said Mike had requested special security, parking and entrance for the rapper, but Mike said the team responded that they would only sell the seats for Mike's personal use.

The Grammy-winning artist said his manager had advised him not to return to the city's arena for sporting events or concerts, but added, "I never say never."  He claims other venues including Miami welcome his with open arms and he likes being able to energize the players— many who are fans of his music.

"That's like me going on stage and... seeing LeBron (James) in the crowd with his hand up.  I'm going to perform a little bit harder," he said. But in Oklahoma, he said that while "the players want me there, I don't want to feel— I'm going to still feel unwanted."

A team spokes person has said Lil' wayne's representatives insisted he sit in the front row, but none of those seats were available and that the team has sold out every home game during the playoffs.

Looks like it's the nosebleed section for Lil' Wayne and his "milli."

Charles Barkley arrives outside studio on high horse

Charles Barkley, who was recently voted the "favorite announcer" in a player's poll conducted by Sports Illustrated, celebrated winning the showdown by arriving outside TNT's "Inside the NBA" studio the only way they do it in Oklahoma— by horseback.

Even though Barkley is technically a studio analyst— and not an announcer— he rode in on his high horse and black hat to announce his arrival as the new sheriff in town.

While head-shaking fans outside the arena— before last night's Oklahoma City Thunder-San Antonio Spurs game— watched the greenhorn try to keep from falling off Gunner the horse, you can hear one of Barkley's co-hosts from the show, Ernie Johnson, urging the stallion to "just take off."

All that was missing from the scene was Clint Eastwood's squint and a tumble weed.

In the 124 player poll, Barkley beat out some of his contemporaries like Jeff Van Gundy, Steve Kerr, Reggie Miller and even the legendary Marv Albert.  Most satisfying to Barkley was probably besting his co-host and studio nemesis Shaquille O'Neal.  Sometimes there just ain't enough room in that there set for the both of them.

At least in the old west they had a hat big enough for Barkley's head and ego— the ten-gallon variety.

After seeing Barkley being guided around by like a four-year old getting a pony ride,  I think the Round Mound of Rebound should stick to studios not stables.

Eight people shot during Oklahoma City Thunder celebration

A celebration surrounding the home arena of the Oklahoma City Thunder was shattered by the sounds of gunfire and screams on Monday night after the team had eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers to advance to the Western Conference Finals.

According to The Oklahoman newspaper, shots rang out around the Chesapeake Energy Arena at approximately 11:35 p.m. CT and at least eight people were wounded by the gunfire near the downtown Oklahoma City venue.

A pregnant woman was reportedly kicked and suffered "blunt trauma" during the incident which occurred near a crowd of 7,500 people who had been watching the game on large screens in an area nicknamed "Thunder Alley."

The shooting victims' conditions were not known, but early reports said one person was shot in the back, another in the upper arm and a third in the hand.

"Everything is very, very preliminary.  We still don't know the actual number of victims.  We believe that one person is critical, and the other injuries are not believed to be life-threatening," Oklahoma City police Capt. Dexter nelson told The Oklahoman.

Two suspects have been taken into custody, said Oklahoma police Capt. Lisa Camacho told the newspaper.  The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still not known.

The Thunder will go on to face the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.

Kevin Durant and James Harden take Kate Upton to work

Upton annoys the two stars with stupid questions but it's still hard for them to look away.
