Team-less 16-year-old fan sends letters to all 30 NBA teams, only one responded

A teen-aged former Seattle SuperSonics fan from Bellingham, Washington — without a team to support since the 'Sonics left in 2008 — has found a new club to support after his letter-writing campaign to all 30 NBA teams yielded just one reply —from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 16-year-old finally got a return letter from the Timberwolves, who even sent back a list featuring 10 reasons to support the team and an autographed ball.

The team-less hoops fan put a lot of heart and thought into the handwritten notes highlighted by a drawing of each team's logo. He also shared photos of his letters to the Portland Trail Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks:

As he says in the comments section the Reddit post, he is a Timberwolves fan now — and a thorough one at that.

Kevin Garnett reunites with fat shirtless Timberwolves fan (VIDEO)

Kevin Garnett got a rousing introduction during his return to Minnesota — after a not-so-joyous stint with the Nets — and got a chance to rekindle his relationship with the dude who dances shirtless at Timberwolves games.

And KG reciprocated the love:

Never saw him smile like that in Brooklyn.

Zach LaVine's girlfriend is pretty high flying too (PHOTO)

Zach LaVine was on fire at the NBA Dunk Contest but, it looks like the high flying winner's girlfriend is pretty hot too.

The diminutive Hunter has been with LaVine since his UCLA days.

The Timberwolves star turned in one of the most exciting performances in recent dunk contest history and it's worth seeing again.

And here's Hunter again:

Timberwolves' Corey Brewer takes leisurely stroll on his way to dunk (VIDEO)

As the first quarter of their game against Oklahoma City was winding down, Minnesota's Corey Brewer stole the ball from Kevin Durant, which started a fast break.

Even before the Timberwolves swingman took off for the dunk, Brewer shuffled his feet and then took a few more steps before making the bunny shot. The announcers counted 13 steps.

That isn't traveling, it's a stroll through the park.

Did Zach LaVine say "Bleep Me" when he was picked by Timberwolves (VIDEO)

Zach LaVine, the point guard from UCLA who was drafted with the 13th pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves, didn't look too happy hearing his name called by the team at the 2014 NBA Draft Thursday night.

The moment he was picked, he put his head on the table, got up and mumbled something that lip readers claim was this: "Bleep me."

It was a reaction you might expect from someone headed to a team that forward Kevin Love wants to bail on and already has point guards like Ricky Rubio and Jose Barea on the roster.

LaVine's agent, Bill Duffy, told local reporter Darren Wolfson that his client was just "expressing relief" at being picked.
Umm kay. Glad we cleared that up.

Thomas Robinson destroys Corey Brewer's dunk attempt (VIDEO)

During the Portland Trail Blazers' comeback victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves — where they erased an 18-point deficit — Thomas Robinson made the most of his minutes off the bench.

First and foremost, he helped keep All-Star Kevin Love in check, but his biggest highlight of the game came in the fourth quarter when the Blazers were pulling away.

Corey Brewer came down on a fast break and looked to embarrass Robinson with a dunk. Brewer went up for the slam, only to have the much taller T-Rob swat it away.

The Blazers took the loose ball the other way and Will Barton finished the play with an emphatic alley-oop.

Robinson finished the game with a career-high 18 rebounds and 14 points in 33 minutes.

Stephen Curry left game with sprained ankle, but not before leaving this incredible pass (VIDEO)

Check out this between-the-legs pass from Stephen Curry to Harrison Barnes for a dunk during the Warriors’ 106-93 win over the Timberwolves Wednesday night.

Later in the game, Curry went down with what initially looked like a knee injury, but the Warriors are saying that their star player suffered an ankle sprain. While the team says it doesn’t appear to be very serious, it's still got to be a big concern for the oft-injured guard.

Carmelo Anthony taunted by Timberwolves fan about KG before game

Carmelo Anthony's wife Lala reportedly tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios according to Kevin Garnett but one flaky fan in Minnesota sounds like he is just plain nuts.

Anthony was confronted by a trash-talking Timberwolves fan — while entering the Target Center Friday night — who harassed the Knicks star about Garnett. The obsessed man taunted Anthony about  his Celtics rival and followed Anthony into the Knicks' locker room, according to The New York Post.

Where are James Dolan and his audio recording devices when you really need them?

The fan reportedly snuck by security when the Knicks players filed into the arena.  He yelled at Anthony, "KG, KG. You don't know who Kevin Garnett is?"

A startled Anthony shouted back, "Why are you following me? Why are you following me?" before slipping into the locker room.

The Fruit Loopy fan was immediately kicked out of the building by the arena and Knicks security but was not arrested.

Garnett — who played 12 seasons in Minnesota — and Anthony engaged in a widely publicized trash talking incident at Madison Square Garden last month in which KG reportedly made the flavorful comment about Anthony's wife.  The two players had to separated after Anthony waited for Garnett outside the arena after the game.

Anthony ended up shredding the T'wolves for 36 point in the Knicks 100-94 win.

Jeter and dad watch 'Melo take over fourth quarter at MSG

Yep, that was Derek Jeter and his dad, Charles, sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden watching Carmelo Anthony take over the fourth quarter and leading the New York Knicks to a come-from-behind victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday ... well, most of it.

Jeter — whom it seems hasn't been spotted at the Garden since dating former Miss Universe Lara Dutta (remember her) and sporting a fade haircut— watched New York's best team du jour deliver some much-needed holiday cheer with the 94-91 win although he and his dad split before the final buzzer.

The New York Yankees Captain hasn't been seen much since his so-called "fat phase" and was still wearing a boot on his surgically-repaired left ankle Sunday.  But he looked fit and happy as he watched 'Melo score most of his 19 fourth-quarter points — including the Knicks' final 12 in the last 3:04  — before finishing with a team-high 33.

Jeter might have only heard the chants of M-V-P ringing out for Anthony — as the Knicks forward drained six free-throws in the final 31 seconds of the game — since the Yankees shortstop was already hobbling out of the arena before taking any chance at getting jostled during the mad crush of exiting fans.

Seeing Jeter looking healthy, slim and out and about is a good sign for the upcoming season and an early present under the tree for Yankees fans.

Ladies look out.

America's tallest man gets custom made $24K sneakers from Reebok

Igor Vovkovinskiy, at 7-feet, 8-inches, is the tallest man in the U.S. and with that distinction comes the problem of finding shoes that fit comfortably.

After undergoing 16 foot surgeries because the Rochester, Minn. giant couldn't find shoes that fit, Reebok came forward and delivered three pairs of size 24, 10E pairs of $25,000 custom-made sneakers on Thursday.

"Wow!" he said as he took his first steps in the tennies which took five months to make.  "It feels so good, like I'm walking on pillows or mattresses."

Vovkovinskiy claims he is a big Minnesota Timberwolves fan — he stands 10 inches taller than Kevin Love — and each pair is emblazoned with Timberwolves-inspired colors and personalized with the name "IGOR" on the bottom of the soles.

The soft-spoken NBA fan started an online fundraising drive earlier this year and raised over $32,000 to purchase new shoes.  After a trip to Reebok headquarters in Canton, Mass.  — where he underwent tests to design the perfect shoe for his pontoon-sized feet — the company came through with the custom skips. And the company foot the bill for the life-changing shoes to boot.

"For so long it hurt to have shoes on," said Vovkovinskiy.  "Every day, I was in pain."

With a whole newfound spring in his step, Vovkovinskiy plans on dropping a few pounds and has set a goal of getting down to 350 pounds from his current 430.

The big guy also hopes he lives a more normal life.

"I'm hoping instead of my height drawing attention, my shoes will," Vovkovskiy said.

Sorry Igor, but you would even stand out in an NBA camp.  But it's all about the shoes.
