Sanchez/Longoria breakup blamed on lousy Jets team

It wasn't the other woman — or the other man (Tim Tebow) in this case — that broke up the relationship between Mark Sanchez and actress Eva Longoria but the whole New York Jets team who put the kibosh on the high profile relationship.

Sources connected to the former couple told TMZ that they broke up because Sanchez was impossible for Eva to be around because he was in such a crappy mood over the the Jets' horrible season.

"It's hard to maintain a relationship when one person is upset all the time," said one of the gossip site's sources.

So that whole age difference theory — she's 37, he's 25 — can finally be put to rest.  It sounds like Sanchez's crankiness ended the three-month fling.

The inconsistent Jets (3-4) continue to stumble and were beaten in overtime by the New England Patriots last Sunday.  Sanchez was last seen fumbling the ball in the heartbreaking loss.

It hasn't exactly been a banner week for the Jets quarterback. Besides the critical loss and the publicized breakup, Sanchez was voted the 10th least-liked player in the NFL.

TMZ reports that despite the split, the pair are serious about remaining friends and have nothing but respect for each other.

Mark Sanchez gives pre-game motivational speech to HS football team

Mark Sanchez swung by a New Jersey high school Friday night to give the local football team a quick pre-game pep talk.  After doing his best Rex Ryan impression, Sanchez watched the game among the crowd in the stands.

The New York Jets quarterback took time out to stop by the Bernards High School locker room before the undefeated Mountaineers faced unbeaten New Providence in a battle for the Mid-State 38 Conference-Union title.

Sanchez's words of encouragement must have fired up the Mountaineers' players.  Following his speech,  Bernards went out and routed their opponents, 42-3, to capture its second straight league crown.

"It was great," Bernards coach Jon Simoneau said.  "He gave a warm, heartfelt speech.  His tagline was, 'Let our dreams be their nightmares.'

"It was moving.  I wanted to go put on a helmet and play."

If the coach knows how to run a pattern and hang on to the ball, the short-handed Jets just might be giving him a call on Sunday.

Sanchez, who lives in nearby Bedminster, became friendly with Simoneau and the team during last summer's NFL lockout.  The Jets quarterback and several of his NFL teammates used the Bernards football field for workouts and even practiced with the high school players.

Around here they ask, Tim who?

"He is a class act and a great motivator," said Simoneau.  "It definitely helped make it a night to remember."

There was some disappointment that Sanchez's main squeeze Eva Longoria didn't show up with her pompoms.

The Wildcat is out of the bag.  Eva Longoria, the tiny "Desperate Housewives" star confirmed Thursday — what has been the worst kept secret since Michael Strahan paired up with Kelly Ripa on Live! — that she and Mark Sanchez are an item.

It's official.  Now everyone go "awwww."

After being spotted grocery shopping and having lunch together near his Bedminster, N.J. home or hiding behind a blond wig while dining out in Manhattan, Longoria broke the news to "Extra" host Mario Lopez.

"Mark and I are, you know, fine.  We're happy — just dating," she giggled.

Everyone knows the 37-year old actress has a thing for athletes —he just split with NBA star Tony Parker — but claims she's "a big fan of the Jets because they have the best center in the NFL, Nick Mangold."

Yeah right ... a center.  You know Sanchez told her to say that.

Longoria was coy about breaking the the news — and even called Lopez an "a--hole" for holding up a New York Post story about the couple with the headline,"Private Affair" on it.   But she finally spilled the beans in front of cheering fans.

Now that Longoria has the 25-year old Sanchez on her fantasy team, she can expect a lot more front page headlines — especially with the Jets. 

From one Sunday drama to another, Longoria will find out the the sniping on Wisteria Lane has nothing on the dysfunction at MetLife Stadium.

Mark Sanchez: If Obama can take a joke, so can I

Mark Sanchez is flying high after Sunday's convincing win over the Buffalo Bills and won't let doubters or even cartoonists get him down.  Last night the New York Jets quarterback and a couple of Flight Crew cheerleaders hit a promotional event in Manhattan and Sanchez even joked about being caricatured as a clown in a newspaper NFL guide.

Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Rex Ryan were drawn as clowns in a car in The New York Post NFL 2012 guide last week — a poke at the circus-like atmosphere surrounding the team.

On Sunday, Sanchez made a statement on the field.  Last night, he said he didn't mind the drawing and, if the nation's Commander-in-Chief could take a jab, so could he.

"I mean it's a cartoon," Sanchez said last night.  "Do you think President Obama feels bad when they make political cartoons about him?"

The much-maligned quarterback said if he couldn't take a joke, then how could he take any hits from opposing defenders on the field.

"It's part of the deal if you're gonna play in New York," he said. "If you can't handle that, how are you gonna handle getting ready for [James] Harrison, [LaMarr] Woodley and Troy Polamalu?"

"If you can't handle that stuff, you can't play," he added.

Sanchez had another reason to feel presidential.  After the 48-28 rout of the Bills, he was spotted celebrating the win with his new flame — actress Eva Longoria.

While Sunday's win was a nice start to the season, Sanchez knows it going to take more than thick skin and the gaze of a beautiful woman to keep his mind off of his critics.

"It almost seems like people are looking for us to feel vindicated or, 'Oh, he's proven something now,' because the preseason didn't go the way we wanted to, but the reality of it is it's one game," Sanchez told The New York Post.

"Did we play well?  Absolutely. No doubt," he said.  "But that's nothing to hang your hat on.  That's the most important thing for our guys moving forward, just to realize that.  As soon as your head hits the pillow tonight and, really, last night, that one's over."

Now that the cat is out of the bag about Sanchez's relationship with the "Desperate Housewives" star, can the Wildcat follow suit?

Who says the the New York Jets can't score?  Well, maybe not on the field.  But off of the gridiron, quarterback Mark Sanchez is beginning to look like Joe Namath.

The beefed-up Jets signal-caller was spotted having a casual supper with actress Eva Longoria outside a Bedminster, N.J. restaurant where the couple shared bites from each other's plates.

Friday night's sighting of the lovebirds is the latest in or around Sanchez's New Jersey home this summer.  It's quite a change from when Longoria, 37, the ex-wife of NBA star Tony Parker, wore a blond wig as a disguise at a Manhattan restaurant the last time they dined out in public.

Earlier this summer, Sanchez and Longoria were spotted grocery shopping together and, according to InTouch magazine, were rumored to have jetted off to the Caribbean for a romantic weekend.

Now only if Sanchez could make that kind of connection with one of his wideouts.

It's nice to see Sanchez and Longoria taking their relationship out in the open.  Better yet for Sanchez, he must be happy to see his name in the papers without Tim Tebow next to it.  Oops, couldn't help it.

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has been secretly hooking up with cougar/actress Eva Longoria— who even went as far as donning a blond wig to go incognito— when she, Sanchez and some friends dined at New York's Hotel Griffou, according to In Touch magazine.

Nothing attracts less attention in New York than a star quarterback together with a hot blond.

The 37-year old Longoria— previously married to NBA star Tony Parker— and the 25-year old Sanchez— once linked to model Kate Upton— were also spotted shopping together inside a King's Market in Bedminster, N.J.— where the Jets QB has a home.

Weeks after the Griffou date, the Latin lovers spent a quiet island-hopping adventure in the Caribbean, said the magazine.

Longoria recently wrapped up her long run on the television show "Desperate Housewives" and finalized a 3 1/2 year marriage to Parker early last year.

Sanchez will be resuming his quarterback controversy with Tim Tebow this month in Jets camp.  No word on if he's been wearing a wispy, brownish wig to look more like Peyton Manning.

Spurs' Tony Parker was injured in Chris Brown-Drake bar brawl

Tony Parker might have more than one reason to wish his San Antonio Spurs team was still in the NBA playoffs.  The NBA star was in the wrong place at the wrong time early Thursday morning when he suffered a scratched retina on one of his eyes during the bottle-hurling brawl at a New York City nightclub involving rappers Chris Brown and Drake— reportedly over the singer Rihanna.

Parker , wearing dark glasses, described the incident Friday in Paris during a news conference posted on YouTube.  He said he expects to be sidelined about a week while the French Olympic team prepares for the London Games.

The Spurs' guard said he was wearing a "therapeutic" contact lens and had to go to an emergency room after arriving in Paris.

The French basketball star described the melee and aftermath: "I was with my friend Chris Brown and me and my friends took some punches, so I'll be missing the start of the French team because I can't do anything for a week except keep the lens in and then take drops."

Those relatively quiet nights banging elbows against the Oklahoma City Thunder probably don't seem so bad now.  The Spurs were knocked out of the playoffs by the Thunder 4-2 last week.

The fight turned into a bottle-tossing free-for-all and police said Brown, his girlfriend and his bodyguard were among several people injured in the fight at the Soho club.

Parker said, "They started throwing bottles everywhere.  I don't know what happened.  At first it was OK, but then it started getting worse and when the plane landed it was really hurting so I went straight to the ER."

The glass and bottle-throwing was so bad, a NYC council member is looking to curb "bottle service" at all city clubs and bars.

The San Antonio Spurs declined comment.

Parker is used to making the gossip pages with his ex-wife, actress Eva Longoria, but I'm sure he never hoped he'd be making headlines linking him to Rihanna in this scenario.
