Formula 1 race car sings 'The Star Spangled Banner'

A Formula 1 race car warmed up its vocal chords before taking a test lap around a track by singing— revving?— the National Anthem with the Statue of Liberty standing in the background.

The car belted out the "The Star Spangled Banner" before making a test run for the proposed "Grand Prix of America" race in Jersey City, N.J. before a smattering of race fans in Liberty State Park along the Hudson River.

It wasn't Whitney Houston, but puts Roseanne Barr's version to shame.

It was a good day for the car, driven by David Coulthard.  After the song and the test run, it got to roar through the Lincoln Tunnel at speeds over 190 mph to help promote the potential race which would run through the streets of numerous New Jersey cities.

At least we didn't have worry about the car messing up the words.

Brian Urlacher, Jenny McCarthy split, will continue 'amazing friendship'

Jenny McCarthy and Brian Urlacher have called it quits after less than six months of dating, according to the July/August "Playboy" cover girl.

Rumors of the romance between the "Love in the Wild" host and the Chicago Bears linebacker started back in April, when she told reporters she was currently "giddy about someone."

Now the 39-year old is back on the market.

"Brian and I have decided to turn our romance into an amazing friendship," she told People in a statement.  "I will continue to be the biggest cheerleader for him.  Go Bears!"

Friendship?  That's gonna be one grumpy Bear this season.

McCarthy left no doubt about the budding relationship back in May by telling reporters, "I can confirm that yes, it's true, we are dating."

Before she started getting serious with Urlacher, McCarthy had insisted she was happy being single.  She previously dated actor Jim Carrey for over five years and has a 10-year old son from actor John Mallory Asher.

"It took awhile," she told Parade magazine of being comfortable with herself back in April.  "I'm happy with myself.

"I don't need to have a lover to have love in my life."

Urlacher— who just underwent an arthroscopic procedure to clean up tissue in his left knee— had no comment but, if he did, it would probably be a grunt.

F1 racing car drives through Lincoln Tunnel in under 30 seconds

The commute from New Jersey to New York just got a little faster— make that a lot faster— if you are lucky enough to be David Coulthard and drive your Formula 1 race car through the empty lanes of the Lincoln Tunnel for a video shoot to promote the "Grand Prix of America" race tentatively scheduled to take place in New Jersey next June.

Besides fantasizing of getting behind the wheel of his 900-horse power vehicle, weekday commuters can only dream about actually getting through the traffic-less tube in under 30 seconds.

Coulthard reached speeds of 190 mph.  Speed Racers beware.  The speed limit is 35 but poor nine-to-fivers will be lucky to top out at seven.

Coulthard, the current Red Bull Racing Formula 1 Running Car driver, roared through the 1.5 mile tunnel on Wednesday morning with a camera placed in the race car's cockpit.

It was the second time that day the race team revved their engines in the area.  Earlier, Coulthard took a lap on the proposed 3.1 mile course which runs through the streets of Jersey City and Weehawken, N.J..

Wednesday's events may dictate whether the Grand Prix race will take place at all, according to a race spokesman.

"The Grand Prix is not yet an official race," said Leo Parente, a former Formula 1 racer.  "Generally, Formula 1 races are not official until the beginning of the year because local business or politics may interfere with planned races.  Events like this build excitement for the race."

Brandon Jacobs calls Jets a 'circus' who will never be No.1 in New York

Brandon Jacobs is 3,000 miles removed from the New York Giants camp and he still can't keep himself from putting his two cents in Big Blue's business.

Yesterday, the former Giants running back said he thought the Giants D.J. Ware was headed to a breakout year.  Okay. But today, he chimed in about the New York Jets and wasn't so kind.  He said the Giants MetLife Stadium roomies will never be number one in New York.

"And it's always going to be like that," Jacobs told CBSSports.com.  "They were in the AFC Championship  game twice in a row, but the year after that the Giants win the Super Bowl.  That discredits everything as far as the Battle of the City.  They can't ever one-up the Giants— not in my eyesight; not in anyone else's eyesight.  They can never do that. They keep trying, but they're doing it the wrong way."

Last December, the Giants backed up Jacobs' words when they beat the Jets 29-14 in Week 16 in the Battle of New York— which, for the curious, was played in New Jersey.  The win began a six game win streak culminating with the Giants winning the Lombardi Trophy.

Jacobs ended the Jets game with more words by telling Jets head coach Rex Ryan at mid-field, "It's time to shut up, fat boy" and called him a "loudmouth bastard."

"It's a circus, man.  But every year, it's like that," said  Jacobs who now plays for the San Francisco 49ers.  "But all this surrounding [Tim] Tebow and [Mark] Sanchez... I truly think it's going to be Sanchez.  He's going to be the guy.  He's got to be the guy.  He's the natural quarterback.  That's just my opinion.  I shouldn't be speaking of their team, but I'm so tired of hearing of everything over there... and it's mid-August.  It's like, 'Are you kidding me? Camp's not even over.'"

Jacobs had compliments for his old nemesis Ryan but still gave the Jets plenty of bulletin board fodder when the 49ers come to MetLife Stadium in Week 4.

"No question," said Jacobs.  "I really like coach Ryan.  I feel like we're sort of alike."

He gives a little love to the Jets players too.

"They're talented, no question about that," he said.  "They've got a good team, man, but sometimes... I just don't know what the problem is.  That's why things go the way it does for them."

Kim Kardashian calls Kris Humphries 'a cancer' and 'a fame-hungry jerk'

Television reality star Kim Kardashian is "emotionally exhausted" from her ongoing divorce proceedings with estranged ex-husband Kris Humphries, who has become "a cancer" that she wants to see removed from her life, according to reports.

Humphries, on the other hand, is still trying to convince a judge that their 72-day marriage was a fraud and just fodder for her reality show ratings.

Kardashian believes she still holds the the high hand and will prove that the Brooklyn Nets forward is a "manipulative, vindictive. petty, fame-hungry jerk."

According to TMZ, as their marriage was starting to crumble, Kardashian told friends Humphries "told our producers he would destroy my career and me if the show wasn't edited right."

She claims the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" editing outtakes will prove her case.

"It's all on camera and it's going to backfire in his face," she said.

Throughout the divorce ordeal, Kim K still found time to send an Instagram picture from her Hawaiian vacation with new boyfriend Kanye West.  She's in a revealing bikini with a flower in her hair.

It's nice to know she's not "fame-hungry."

Fierce Five 'intern' on 'The Colbert Report'

The U.S. women's gymnastics team continues to take New York by storm and appeared as "interns" on "The Colbert Report" Wednesday night.

Host Stephen Colbert said he hired a new group of interns, who were "five bright women who just returned from study abroad in London."

When Colbert said he needed a pen, the Fierce Five— Aly Raisman, Jordyn Wieber, Kyla Ross, Gabby Douglas and McKayla Maroney— appeared as the interns and got a Sharpie to him as only they could.  Each athlete tumbled around the stage passing the marker to each other before Wieber handed it to the host with her foot while walking on her hands.

As the five waved goodbye to the audience, Maroney could be seen making the not impressed expression which has now become one of the most popular memes on the Internet.

The team has been barnstorming the talk shows and hitting all the sights in Manhattan while making public appearances.  Let's see now... there's only Ellen and Jimmy Fallon left, if I am correct.

Guy catches foul ball with braided baby in his other arm

Guy catches foul ball while holding kid is becoming a little routine these days but, at Angel Stadium the other night, this little one had pretty cool hair and an attitude to match.

Sure the dad made a pretty nifty single-handed grab of the wayward ball during the Cleveland Indians-Los Angeles Angels game but it was the little girl whose hair was braided into a bedazzled, blond, criss-cross of fashionable squares who got the spotlight.

After her dad snagged the ball, she just looked around coolly while fans cheered and screamed.

Very L.A..

We've seen a rash of guys push their dates out of the way to grab a ball and others tumble over railings to get that souvenir.   Now it's dads with babies.  Let's put an end to this madness now.
