Nike unveils Oregon Ducks uniform paying tribute to Lewis and Clark (PHOTO)

Nike is no stranger to blazing trails on the sports front, but now the shoe and apparel company has designed a really unique uniform for the Oregon Ducks that might even be called historic.

Yes, Nike — which has managed to turn Oregon uniforms into 31 flavors —  has created a new "Pioneers" uni that the Ducks will wear against Washington State on Oct. 10 that will pay tribute to the state of Oregon and Lewis and Clark. 

And no, that's not Ray Lewis and Dwight Clark for all you history flunkies — it's the explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark.

Phil Knight's company has found a way to include "a sublimated, tonal pattern of the Oregon Trail" in the jerseys, with each player's jersey featuring a different part of the map. The jersey is gray to reflect the look of a vintage map.

Although fans probably won't notice the Oregon Trail pattern on television, they will be able to see Oregon's helmets. And, though taking some intellectual liberty with factual accuracy, that is the Oregon Duck with the explorers and Lewis looking through a telescope.

Just what any fan wants at a leisurely Saturday afternoon game — a freakin' history lesson.

Jameis Winston's 'Stumblefumble' memes flood Internet (PHOTOS)

Jameis Winston's awkward third-quarter fumble against Oregon in the Rose Bowl is being called the most hilarious turnover since Mark Sanchez's Buttfumble.

The 'Stumblefumble' not only helped power the Ducks to a 59-20 rout of Florida State, but the phantom hit and fall also opened the floodgates of Internet memes faster than you can say crab legs.

Could Marcus Mariota's thanks to Eagles Chip Kelly lead to a reunion in Philly? (VIDE)

Marcus Mariota became the first Oregon player to earn the Heisman Trophy and the first Hawaii native to take home the coveted prize. After receiving the 25-pound trophy, Mariota gave an emotional speech, thanking his family, his teammates and home state.

During the tearful speech Saturday night, the soft-spoken quarterback — who beat out Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper and Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon — also thanked his coaches including Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly.

"Coach (Mark) Helfrich, coach (Scott) Frost, and coach (Chip) Kelly," Mariota said,"thank you for the opportunity. You took a chance on me, and I am truly grateful."

That shout-out — or whisper-out, if you please — has already started speculation that the Eagles might try to move up to get him in the 2015 NFL Draft.

The link between Kelly and Mariota, who were together for one full season during their days at Oregon, has Eagles fans dreaming of the perfect replacement of Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez in running Kelly's offensive attack. 

And, earlier this week,  Kelly took time out from preparing for Sunday night's showdown with the Cowboys to heap plenty of praise on his former player and stoke the fire.

"He has a gift for playing football," Kelly said of Mariota. "He is everything you could want. He can throw the ball, he can run. He is the most talented kid I coached in college."

Could next year's most prized player in the NFL Draft go from being a Duck to an Eagle? It's a long shot — but one worth thinking about.

Arizona center pukes on ball, then snaps it anyway (VIDEO)

It was pretty upsetting how badly Arizona was getting beat by Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game Friday night.

And a lot of Wildcats fans could probably relate to Arizona center Carter Wood when he puked on the ball right before this snap.



Props to Wood for not letting an inconvenience like vomiting his pre-game meal all over the ball stop him from playing.

And at least the quarterback didn't have to ask him what he had for dinner.

Tony Washington's 'bow' helps Arizona beat Oregon (GIF)

The second-ranked Oregon Ducks lost at home last night (this morning?) to Arizona 31-24, partially due to a ridiculous taunting penalty called at a crucial moment of the game.

Oregon defensive lineman Tony Washington sacked Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon on third down, but after the fourth quarter play ended Washington bowed toward the sideline in celebration and was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct.  

The controversial call took Arizona's position of having fourth-and-goal from the 17 and turned it into a first down at Oregon's eight yard line. Three straight Terris Jones-Grigsby rushes later, the Wildcats scored a touchdown for the decisive 31-24 lead.

Maybe Washington should have just told the overzealous officials he was praying.

DeSean Jackson: Keeping Vick is 'no-brainer' for Eagles

DeSean Jackson sounded thrilled at the prospect of playing under new head coach Chip Kelly but what would make him really happy is for Michael Vick to return as the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback.

The Eagles wide receiver even went as far as to call it a "no-brainer" during an interview with the NFL Network on Friday.

"For sure I can see it," Jackson told the network at the Super Bowl in New Orleans. "Now that Chip Kelly is our offensive coordinator, I mean our head coach, Michael Vick I think it's a no-brainer to keep him here.  It fits his playing style and what he's done perfect."

The 33-year-old Vick, who has the second-highest base salary of any NFL quarterback, is coming off his worst season ever and the Eagles don't have to pay his $15.5 million salary if they don't want to. That is unless Kelly convinces the organization that Vick would be a perfect fit for his explosive offensive style.
