Eli Manning holds back tears during Tom Coughlin's farewell presser (VIDEO)

Tom Coughlin stepped down as head coach of the New York Giants on Monday, and during his final press conference on Tuesday, the two-time Super Bowl champion let quarterback Eli Manning know that the farewell wasn't his fault.

And that emotional message about bonding and teamwork left Eli holding back tears:

Manning took responsibility for the team's recent failures but, like a father defending his son, Coughlin made sure his veteran quarterback knew it's about the team — not him.

As the culmination of two Super Bowl titles and 12 years together came to the final gun, it was tough for Manning to see the only NFL coach he has ever known step down.

It was a moment that transcended sports, winning and losing.

So before he hung up his Giants head coach's hat for good, Coughlin delivered a fatherlike message to Manning one last time at the podium:

Ronda Rousey to host 'Saturday Night Live' on Jan. 23

Despite Ronda Rousey's totally shocking loss to Holly Holm for the UFC women's bantamweight title in November, the perks of being a winner are still coming fast and furious to the darling of MMA.

And on Tuesday, it was announced that Rousey will be hosting "Saturday Night Live" with musical guest Selena Gomez on Jan. 23.

Rousey has largely remained out of the public eye since losing her title, but it hasn't stopped her from still being in demand. Besides continuing the tradition of pro athletes hosting the high-profile SNL gig, Rousey will be doing a body-painted feature spread in the upcoming Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and has a few big-budget movies coming out including the reboot of "Roadhouse."

It looks like sprinkles are for losers sometimes.

Cricket player fined after asking female reporter for date during TV interview (VIDEO)

West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle has been fined  by his club for "inappropriate conduct" after he asked a TV reporter for a date during a live interview on Monday.

Gayle was speaking to Network Ten reporter Mel McLaughlin during a Big Bash League T20 match in Hobart when he popped what is being perceived as a sexist question to the 36-year-old Australian woman.

"To see your eyes for the first time is nice. Hopefully we can have a drink afterwards. Don't blush baby," he said as he hit on the attractive — but visibly uncomfortable — reporter.

Gayle has said he is sorry, but added that the backlash was "out of proportion."

Apparently making light of the episode, the cricketer later tweeted a photo of an empty bed, saying he was tired.

He then said his teammate Dwayne Bravo was buying him a meal because his "pockets were empty."

He also retweeted a comment from broadcaster and cricket fan Piers Morgan, who said he was "outraged at the outrage" at Gayle being "a bit cheeky to a female TV reporter."

Gayle may still face further sanctions from the league, but in an interview, McLaughlin accepted his apology and wants to put it behind her.

 "Let's move on," she said.

Watch this double knockout of Canadian lacrosse player Zack Greer after he took two tough hits at almost the same time during a National Lacrosse League game Saturday night.

The Saskatchewan Rush player had just took out Calgary Roughnecks' Greg Harnett with a nasty crosscheck when he was sucker-punched by one of his victim's teammates.

Not only did Greer catch a fist from from his opponent, but as he was falling to the ice, one of Greer's teammates inadvertently struck him smack in the chin with the solid rubber ball while aiming for the goal.

That's gotta hurt.

Plenty of painful and embarrassing mishaps at Jets-Bills game (VIDEO)

Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills may have destroyed the New York Jets playoff dreams on Sunday, but it didn't come without a couple of painful and embarrassing mishaps on the Bills side.

After missing yet another extra-point attempt this season, Bills kicker Dan Carpenter took out his frustration on his helmet and the brain bucket responded in like:

Peyton Manning's wife was repeatedly sent HGH according to 'impeccably placed' source: Report

Peyton Manning returned to action on Sunday night, getting behind center in the third quarter of the Broncos' game against the Chargers and helping his team land the AFC's top seed. But, rising up with the quarterback's game is another source who alleges that the NFL superstar's wife, Ashley, had human growth hormone sent to their home.

A second "impeccably placed" source reportedly confirmed that HGH was repeatedly mailed to Manning's wife while he was recovering from neck surgeries in 2011.

Journalist Deborah Davies, who worked on last week's Al Jazeera documentary, which claimed Manning was linked to banned performance-enhancing drugs, said another anonymous source backed up the allegations made by pharmacist Charlie Sly.

Sly was secretly filmed saying Ashley Manning was sent human growth hormone while getting treatment at the Guyer Institute but retracted his words after discovering he had been recorded.

Davies told CNN: "We had a second source. Absolutely impeccably placed, knowledgeable and credible who confirmed exactly what Charlie Sly said.

"Shipments of HGH were repeatedly sent to Ashley Manning in Florida and other places in the US," said Davies. 

"This is a source we cannot name, we could not name. The value of that source was to add to the level of confidence we already had in what Charlie Sly was saying."

Last week the Broncos quarterback furiously denied the allegations in a seven-minute long rant on ESPN, claiming the allegations against his wife were "a freaking joke."

The investigative documentary shows Sly telling British amateur hurdler Liam Collins he was "part of a medical team that helped [Manning] recover" from neck surgery. 

"All the time we would be sending Ashley Manning drugs," Sly boasts. "Like growth hormone, all the time, everywhere, Florida. And it would never be under Peyton's name, it would always be under her name.

"Him and his wife would come in after hours and get IVs and s---."

Sly's account of the story was dismissed as hearsay after it was found out he didn't even work at the clinic in 2011.

Dr. Dale Guyer, from the Guyer Institute, has come forward to say the allegations were "completely fabricated."

HGH, along with other performance-enhancing drugs, is banned by the NFL and no one has tested positive for it since it was outlawed in 2011. The league has only been routinely testing players for it since 2014.

Cam Newton names his newborn son Chosen Sebastian

Cam Newton and his longtime girlfriend, Kia Proctor, very quietly welcomed their first child on Christmas Eve and now the Panthers quarterback has revealed his son's name: Chosen Sebastian Newton.

What?! Dab wasn't good enough?

Newton, who is a front-runner for the MVP and has guided the Carolina Panthers to a 14-1 record, first announced the birth of his son via social media on Wednesday.

Newton was asked about his son on Thursday, but he tried to remain focused on Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.

"I think we're (overdosing) on this whole situation," Newton said, according to the Charlotte Observer. "Yeah, I had a child, the people who needed to know have known for a while.

"Nothing's pretty much changed besides our record. The focus now is still the same. Find ways to become 1-0."

Still, if Cam wanted his kid to get teased, I would have gone with the quirkier name Fig. But luckily, for Chosen, his middle name isn't One.
