Steven Gerrard's unfortunate slip against Chelsea gets the Twitter treatment (PHOTOS)

Steven Gerrard, the king of Liverpool soccer and one of the greatest players ever to grace the Premier League is getting an un-royal treatment on Twitter after an unfortunate slip on the pitch led to an easy Chelsea goal Sunday.

Pranksters have been quick to mock the farcical play which was like a gift opening goal for Chelsea's Demba Ba at Anfield.

In a unending series of memes, tweets and photoshopping, the mishap — during first-half injury time during Liverpool's 2-0 loss — made the 33-year-old star the butt of the jokes afterwards.

It didn't help that the England captain's impassioned speech two weeks ago — after his side beat rival Man City — included the now immortal line "We don't let this slip."

Fan invades pitch and gives Ronaldo an incredibly long hug and chat

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in a grudge match against Jose Mourinho when Real Madrid played Chelsea in the International Champions Cup final in Miami Wednesday night.

The soccer star was was a little more accommodating —maybe too much so — after a fan wearing a Ronaldo shirt managed to invade the pitch and get rather intimate with his hero. Ronaldo calmly obliges as the fan hugged him for a rather incredible length of time without interference from Sun Life Stadium's invisible security team .

The fan seems to ramble on to Ronaldo, who calmly listened until a lone cop finally wandered over to break up the bizarre chat and escort the fan from the pitch.

Even after the awkward moment, Ronaldo managed to give a tender goodbye to the fan.

The long season has brought some great memories for the Chelsea soccer club this season, including their Europa League triumph.

But perhaps the most adorable moment came after Sunday's 2-1 home victory over Everton, when Ross Turnbull's son, Josh, scored on a breakaway in front of the crowd.

Paulo Ferreira, leaving the club after nine years, was busy giving his farewell speech in the center circle while players and their children stood on the pitch to watch. All except one.

Without a coach in sight, little Josh dribbled the ball from the middle of the pitch towards the goal, with anticipation building among supporters. He stopped near the penalty spot and committed a handball - seemingly unnoticed by officials (heh-heh) - and eventually managed to find the net.

At first he was taken aback by the roar of the crowd, pausing to take the moment in. Then he raised his hands up in deserved celebration. As the little tyke stood in triumph, Chelsea fans chanted,  "Sign him up, sign him up, sign him up." 

He now has one more goal than his dad.

Soccer star Luis Suarez apologizes for taking bite from opponent's arm, could be banned from English leagues

A lot of weird things happen at British soccer matches: punch outs, dropping trou and men acting like hooligans — and that's just on the pitch. Now Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has given more bad behavior for soccer fans to chew on.

Suarez's apparent bite on Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic has been called "embarrassing" and many believe the talented Uruguayan is now in the "last chance saloon" as a Reds player. In plain English — that means banned from English soccer forever.

The controversial forward has once more attracted headlines for all the wrong reasons after appearing to bite Ivanovic midway through the second half of Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Chelsea, an incident the FA say they are to review.

Isn't it supposed to be having Liverpool with some fava beans and a nice Chianti?

Suarez — widely considered one of the top players in the world —is no stranger to cannibalistic tendencies.  He was given a seven-match ban for biting another player in 2010.

To make matters worse for Chelsea, the 26-year-old scored a late goal to ensure that Liverpool escaped with a 2-2 draw against the Champions League contenders.

In addition to threatening to undermine what has been a promising season for Liverpool, Suarez makes his case to win the PFA Footballer of the Year, for which he is nominated, even more difficult with his history of bizarre behavior.

Suarez later tweeted an apology for turning Ivanovic's arm into a mid-day snack.
