Soccer fans around the world were left gagging in disgust after footage of a white foreign substance landing in the mouth of Manchester United midfielder Ashley Young went viral.

Film evidence points at a bird being the likely culprit, although the mystery substance also resembled spit, meaning Young may have caught a stray loogie as the Red Devils fell, 2-1, to Swansea in Week One of the Premier League.

And that would have to be some magic loogie.

Good luck probably never tasted so bad.

Soccer star Wilfried Zaha introduces 'penis pouch' support shorts to world (PHOTO)

An English soccer star has become an Internet punchline for promoting a new range of compression pants — that appear to come with a penis pouch.

Wilfried Zaha has shot to web stardom after a picture emerged of him posing in the bizarre "Gilmore Support Shorts."

While some have speculated that the shorts are a joke product, they were apparently created by Harley Street groin injury expert Dr OJA Gilmore, reports Fox Soccer.

The 21-year-old winger, currently loaned from Manchester United to Cardiff City, is seen showing off the product designed to stop straining muscles during training.

He doesn't look happy in the ad, possibly because he knows his member sort of resembles Squidward.

Zaha hasn't commented on the shorts or the revealing advertisement.

Man U's Fellaini investigated for spitting on injured City opponent (VIDEO)

The FA have confirmed they are looking into the video footage which appears to show Marouane Fellaini spitting at Pablo Zabaleta's face during Tuesday's match between Manchester United and Manchester City.

The Man U midfielder was carded by referee Michael Oliver for a flagrant first-half elbow to the face of his City opponent during the Manchester showdown.

However, while Zabaleta rolled around on the pitch, Fellaini appears to aim a loogie at the Argentine immediately after being shown the yellow card.

A flop and a sop.

The FA could now look into this incident in much the same way as they did when retroactive punishment was on Hull City's George Boyd's spitting incident earlier this month.

Boyd was subsequently banned for three matches despite appealing the charge.

Wayne Rooney recreated one of David Beckham’s most memorable Manchester United goals on Saturday. And the retired star happened to be watching from the stands. 

From just inside the West Ham half after seven minutes at Upton Park, Rooney sent the ball 55 yards over the opposing goalkeeper, who was caught off his goal line.

Beckham, who retired last year, famously lobbed a shot past Wimbledon goalkeeper Neil Sullivan from the halfway line in 1996, when United went on to win the league.

“It’s just instinct,” Rooney said after the 2-0 win. “It’s one of those I’ve tried many times and thankfully today it’s gone in.”

Luis Suarez to help adidas unveil world's first knitted soccer shoes (PHOTO)

Premier League superstar Luis Suarez is hoping that a new style of adidas shoes will put an end to his mini scoring slump.

Suarez will team up with the athletic apparel giant to unveil their new Samba primeknit limited edition soccer shoes that "combines the comfort and responsiveness of playing barefoot with the protection of a traditional design." Suarez will have the honor of testing them out in a game situation.

The innovative design of the boot has an upper part that is knitted from heel-to-toe using the Samba colors of green, pink, blue and orange, providing a lighter second-skin fit that retains the strength of a conventional shoe. 

Just like the booties grandma used to purl.

The Liverpool striker, who is the Premier League's top scorer with 23 goals, will be the only player to wear them when they officially launch next month.

And he will debut them in one of the biggest games of the season when Liverpool takes on Manchester United at Old Trafford on March 16.

The 27-year-old Suarez has not scored since January 28, when he notched a goal in the 4-0 win over Everton — and the goalless run now stretches to five games.

Only 150 pairs of the $360 shoes have been made and are certain to be snapped up immediately when they go on sale 24 hours later, on March 17.

Man U star Chris Smalling criticized for dressing up as 'Jagerbomber'

A Premier League soccer star has apologized for his "ill-thought out and insensitive" decision to host a fancy dress party wearing a suicide bomber costume and making light of terrorism.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling sought to make a "comedy play" on the popular Jagerbomb concoction by strapping bottles of Jagermeister and Red Bull to his body when he held a party at his home, according to his management.

Smalling was pictured in The Sun wearing an army-style vest with the alcohol bottles, a mock circuit board and cables attached.

He also appears to be wearing an Arab kaffiyeh headdress.

Wasserman Media Group said in a statement: "Chris and his girlfriend hosted a fancy dress party to celebrate Christmas and their belated birthdays with close friends in the assumed privacy of his own home.

"He dressed in a costume consisting of empty bottles of Jagermeister and cans of Red Bull strapped to his chest in an attempted comedy play on the popular 'Jagerbomb' drink.

"Although he fully accepts in hindsight it was an ill-thought out and insensitive decision, absolutely no harm was intended whatsoever and he apologizes for any offense caused."

Smalling signed for Manchester United from Fulham in January 2010. He has made 20 appearances under new coach David Moyes this season.

He made his senior England debut in the Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria in September 2011 and has gone on to make eight more appearances for the national team.

Yankees Ranked No. 1 Most Valuable Sports Brand In The World

The 2011 Forbes Fab 40 list of most valuable sports brands was released yesterday and the New York Yankees have passed Manchester United as No. 1 brand in the world.

The ranking, using a data base devised by Forbes ranks the most valuable brand names in four categories-- athletes, businesses, events and teams-- showed the Yankees surpassed the British soccer club for the first time in the list of the most popular sports brands.

Even if the team's play over the past two days doesn't seem to merit the honor, Forbes estimates the New York Yankees name is worth $340 million-- or about the equivalent of Alex Rodriguez's and A.J. Burnett's contracts combined.

Manchester United's brand-- devalued by a currency drop-- is valued at a measly $269 million according to Forbes.

Surprisingly, the New England Patriots were the third-ranked brand over cross-town teams like the Red Sox or Celtics.

The popularity of  the Yankees brand could be attributed to the team's winning history and easy on the eyes colors (navy and blue).

Manchester fans wear a gaudy red and bright yellow mix.

Meanwhile, the New York Mets brand has plummeted to $144 million from $158 million last year, according to Forbes.  This is attributed to the team's falling attendance and growing financial concerns.  Oh yeah, they lose a lot too.

Brand worth aside, Manchester United is still a cash cow and is ranked by Forbes as the most valuable team in the world with an overall value estimated at $1.9 billion.  The Dallas Cowboys followed at $1.8 billion and the Yankees were third with a sale price estimated at $1.7 billion.

Winning it all seems to have little effect on the rankings.  Tiger Woods is still the most valuable athlete brand despite his sex-scandal and nearly two-year losing streak.  The Miami Heat's LeBron James was No.2.

The most valuable sporting event continues to be the Super Bowl, although the Olympics (winter and summer combined) is gaining on the annual Sunday bash.

The top businesses ranked in the Forbes Fab 40 were Nike followed by ESPN.

The Yankees brand has continued to rise 57% in value since 2007, defying a recession claims Forbes.

That trend could come to an end tonight--  with A-Rod batting clean-up and Burnett on the mound against the Detroit Tigers.
