Oilers' Matt Hendricks blocks hockey puck with groin, shows off shattered cup (VIDEO)

You can say Matt Hendricks took two for the team Thursday night in Dallas, after blocking a a hockey puck with his crotch.

Men. Get ready to cringe.

The Oilers' forward reportedly collapsed in the tunnel on his way to the locker room for medical attention, but returned to the ice after missing a few shifts.

And if you don't think it was a solid hit, Hendricks later tweeted a photo of his busted cup as proof — thanking Bike and Russell Athletic for "saving my bacon tonight" in the post.

Thankfully, there was no mention of crushed nuts.

"Good thing that company makes a solid product … that’s a vital area," Hendricks told the Edmonton Journal after the Oilers’ 3-2 loss to the Stars.

"I was hurting but I got out unscathed,” said Hendricks, who claims he was lucky not to take it in the testicle.

"We’ve all been hit there before, all the fellas anyway, but this was scary, instant pain."

The final buzzer had already sounded when Buffalo Sabres forward Tyler Ennis gave an innocuous tap with his stick towards linesman Derek Nansen Friday night. The move ended up getting Ennis a game misconduct.

It's kind of bizarre getting the penalty considering that there was already no time remaining on the clock after the Sabres 3-2 loss to the Oilers.

The tap did appear to be on purpose and maybe of the mocking kind but there didn't seem to be anything leading up to the poke. Whether or not the two shared some words probably won't be known until the NHL investigates — since Ennis could be looking at a suspension for abuse of officials — if that is the case, according to CBS Sports.

Nansen, a 12-year veteran, looked like he got hit on his hand, which may not have been Ennis' intent, but probably hurt. No matter how hard it was, it rose to the level of a game misconduct. If the referees deemed it an abuse of officials misconduct, they would have to submit a report to the NHL detailing the incident and decide the category of the offense. 

Ennis could be looking at a suspension of three games or more here as the league probably won't allow physical contact with a referee go without at least some form of punishment. It will be interesting to see what kind of decision gets made, but a lot of that depends on what kind of report the referees filed Friday night.

Canucks' Tom Sestito whiffs big time on body check (VIDEO)

Canucks forward Tom Sestito was making his season debut on Saturday night against the Edmonton Oilers and he was looking to make a big impact.

Too bad only the boards felt it.

Early in the first period he had his sights set on Matt Hendricks — who was handling the puck below the goal line. Sestito committed himself to the hit but all he got was air.

Ouch!

The Edmonton Oilers haven't been very good for nearly a decade and losing to Calgary on the first game of the season, at home, isn't a very good start to this season. But after the Flames' new winger, Mason Raymond, burned the O-men for the third hat-trick of his career, one hoser had enough.

After the loss, the aggravated Oilers fan angrily tossed his hoodie onto the ice — with his phone still in the pocket.

Oilers fan takes out playoff frustration on team logo (VIDEO)

It seems like the Edmonton Oilers haven't made the playoffs since The Great One ditched town (eight years actually) and that frustration came to a head for at least one angry Canuck who misses hockey lasting into June.

This bonehead ended up throwing his his backpack at a promotional Oilers sign inside a bank and, according to whiskeylullabyy, he managed to break the window outside of the building with his one-man protest.

And, like any good Canadian, he cleaned up his mess. 

Gazdic KOs Westgarth with one final punch during lengthy brawl (VIDEO)

As far as hockey fights go, this was a good one — until one final punch reminded everyone how bad these skirmishes can end.

Kevin Westgarth and Luke Gazdic exchanged punches during the latest installment of the Battle of Alberta between the Flames and Oilers Saturday night. And, for a while, the first period dust-up looked pretty even.

Just as the announcers observed the length of the brawl, Gazdic knocked Westgarth out with one last right-cross. Westgarth bounced his head violently off of the ice and didn't return to the game.

The Flames play the Wild in Minnesota on Monday, but Westgarth will not play. After the game, he was diagnosed with a head injury and traveled back to Calgary.
