Fed-up Oilers fan throws hoodie and phone onto ice after loss to Flames (PHOTO)

The Edmonton Oilers haven't been very good for nearly a decade and losing to Calgary on the first game of the season, at home, isn't a very good start to this season. But after the Flames' new winger, Mason Raymond, burned the O-men for the third hat-trick of his career, one hoser had enough.

After the loss, the aggravated Oilers fan angrily tossed his hoodie onto the ice — with his phone still in the pocket.

At least the guy won't have to hear about it from his friends from down the province, eh.

And only 81 games to go.

NHL referee helmet cameras make regular season debut (VIDEO)

If you've ever wanted to get a center ice view of an NHL game, but never had an opportunity to lace 'em up, here's your chance to see what you've been missing.

For some games this season, the NHL, partnering with GoPro, will mount cameras on the zebras' helmets for various match-ups this season.

For the league's opening night, officials wore cameras on their helmets for the two Canadian broadcasts on Sportsnet Wednesday night. The results were pretty cool. eh?

Here's a look at what Tim Peel saw in the middle of a scrum between the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks.

Yay hockey.

k.d. Lang romancing Calgary Flames owner's wife: Report

It sounds like k.d. Lang's constant craving has led her to a hockey wife — sort of.

The Canadian singer is said to be having a hot romance with Heather Edwards, the wife of billionaire N. Murray Edwards, and co-owner of the Calgary Flames hockey team, according to Page Six of the N.Y. Post.

Edwards is one of the richest men in Canada.

“They’re often seen together, dining out at Calgary’s swell eateries,” reported online magazine Frank, about lang and her new love.

Sort of "The L Word" meets the NHL.

Heather met N. Murray in 2002, when she was director of communications for then Natural Resources Minister Herb Dhaliwal. She was one of the editors of the 2005 book, “Alberta: A State of Mind.”

Besides their enthusiasm for sushi, k.d. and Heather share a passion for Buddhism.

“Lang is actively involved with the American Foundation for Tibetan Cultural Preservation, a kids’ camp called Tools for Peace and she supports various other causes, environmental and otherwise,” Frank reports.

In a statement through their lawyers, Murray and Heather Edwards told Page Six, “We separated amicably a year ago. We remain close friends and loving parents.”

Gazdic KOs Westgarth with one final punch during lengthy brawl (VIDEO)

As far as hockey fights go, this was a good one — until one final punch reminded everyone how bad these skirmishes can end.

Kevin Westgarth and Luke Gazdic exchanged punches during the latest installment of the Battle of Alberta between the Flames and Oilers Saturday night. And, for a while, the first period dust-up looked pretty even.

Just as the announcers observed the length of the brawl, Gazdic knocked Westgarth out with one last right-cross. Westgarth bounced his head violently off of the ice and didn't return to the game.

The Flames play the Wild in Minnesota on Monday, but Westgarth will not play. After the game, he was diagnosed with a head injury and traveled back to Calgary.

Canucks’ John Tortorella challenges Flames after line brawl two seconds into game (VIDEOS)

The tension swirled even before the first puck was dropped and, as expected, it took only two seconds into Saturday's Flames-Canucks game for total chaos to break out. After the puck fell, every player on the ice—but the goalies—paired up and threw punches.

This wasn't totally unpredictable, though, if you looked at the lineups. The Flames, being the visiting team, released their starting lineup first, which was actually their fourth line. Once the Canucks coach John Tortorella saw that Bob Hartley was putting enforcers on the ice,  Torts then put his own expendables at the line.

Then the fun began.

Ten players were given majors for fighting and game misconducts. Adding in a two-minute penalty on Calgary's Kevin Westgarth for roughing, a total of 152 penalty minutes were recorded in those first two seconds. There was also one steaming Tortorella, who was leaning over the bench and yelling at Calgary's side as things got crazy.

Here's Torts below going berserk outside the Flames locker room in between periods. He jostled with Flames coaches and players until cooler heads prevailed.

Tortorella later apologized via Twitter.

Hockey goal triggers nearly 26,000 teddy bears tossed to ice (VIDEO)

Despite the Calgary Hitmen's menacing name, the Canadian major junior hockey team has an old tradition that makes them downright cuddly.

The Teddy Bear Toss has been around for nearly two decades, benefiting many local charities but, over the last few seasons, it has become an amazing spectacle.

Sunday night, the Western Hockey League team — which shares the Scotiabank Saddledome as a home arena with the NHL's Calgary Flames — welcomed a crowd of 17,199 who were ready to toss the stuffed bears as soon as the Hitmen scored their first goal.

It took a little while, but forward Pavel Padakin triggered a torrential downpour almost 26,000 of the fuzzy friends at the 3:42 mark of the second period.

Padakin even makes teddy bear angels on the ice in a pile of the little guys.

The official count from the team for 2013 was 25,921 bears, which tops last year's number. The assorted bears will handed out to sick children at the Alberta Children's Hospital and to animal shelters as chew toys.

What a great tradition.

McGrattan and Bordeleau go at it in 'full-time, stand-up' NHL brawl

The Calgary Flames brought Brian McGrattan over as an enforcer "type" and Patrick Bordeleau found out why. The Colorado Avalanche skater and Flames defenseman went at it in what one of the startled announcers called a "full-time, stand-up hockey brawl."

You don't see many hockey fights with the intensity of this one and, after the two went shot for shot for about thirty seconds, they were escorted to their respective boxes as spent as dollar bills in a Toronto strip joint.

The best part may be the announcers' spirited call of the bout.

Most of these shots by each skater connected, so let's call this a draw.

Jake Allen robs T.J. Brodie of goal with spectacular stick save

Jake Allen was making only his second NHL start in goal last night, but the St. Louis Blues netminder already has a stick save for the ages.

The rookie backstop didn't let the sweet passing of the Calgary Flames — a highlight in itself — distract his hand-and-eye coordination as he stopped the Flames' T.J. Brodie from scoring on what looked like an open shot. Allen not only snuffed out Brodie's wide open shot by waving his stick, but he casually snags the puck mid-air with his glove like an old veteran.

The young goaltender might have stolen what would have been Brodie's first goal of the season — and the Flames' own top play highlight — but at least Brodie will be able to see what could have been on Allen's highlight reels for the rest of the season.

The Blues went on to win 5-2.
