Bakersfield Condors rock the 'Puffy Shirt' on 'Seinfeld' night (VIDEO)

The Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL have always been one of the more creative minor league clubs when it comes to promotions. And on Saturday night, the team hosted Seinfeld Night and didn't disappoint.

Starting with the Condors players wearing jerseys that replicated the “Puffy Shirt” from a classic episode of the popular comedy down to putting some names from the show's characters on their backs — it was a fun night. Even if they didn't want to be pirates.

Gimmicks included a Kramer impersonator and Seinfeld-related promotion with a new spin on the “shoot the puck” competition that was called "shoot the marble rye."

Although the Condors lost the game 2-1 in overtime to the Idaho Steelheads, the jerseys were auctioned off for charity.

And there's nothing wrong with that.

ECHL hockey fans litter the ice with underwear after goal (Video)

Fans of the Bakersfield Condors would probably give the ECHL team the shirts off their backs for a win but, when it comes to winning hearts for charity, they offer up even more.

During the 'Undie Sunday' game against the Las Vegas Wranglers, the home fans littered the ice with over 6,000 pieces of underwear and socks after Joel Broda scored a goal with 1:02 left in regulation.

The Condors were going by “Teddy Bear Toss” rules, meaning that a goal needed to be scored before the fans tossed their unmentionables (and socks) from the stands. So that late score must have had fans hanging on to their knickers in anticipation.

But before you start thinking skid marks, shriveled waistbands and toe holes — the underwear and socks tossed on the ice were new and still in their packages — and nobody dropped trou.  At least we hope so.

From the Condors organization, a roundup of the clothing picked up:

Undie Sunday brought a rain of underwear, socks, bras, diapers and socks down onto the ice. Nearly 6,000 clothing items were collected, including 1,096 pairs of socks, 2,773 pair of underwear, 1,747 diapers and 55 bras, among other items. The items will be donated to the Mission at Kern County and the Kern County Network for Children.

Good stuff.

Minor league hockey team to commemorate Gettysburg Address with Abe Lincoln jerseys (PHOTO)

Nothing says hockey in the U.S. like corporate America and the Gettysburg Address. Now, with some shrewd (askew ed?) marketing, one minor league team has found a way to commemorate President Abraham Lincoln's timeless pep talk together with Bud Light.

The Bakersfield Condors, an East Coast Hockey League team in central California — who once held “Charlie Sheen Night” in 2011 —  will commemorate Sunday’s 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address with these special game jerseys.

On the front there's an image of Honest Abe beside a mini Condors logo, the sleeves feature cannons and around the neck there are 1860s authentic Bud Light and Kuzz logos. It gets better on the back where the entire Gettysburg Address is written with a scene from the battle of Gettysburg below.

Possibly forgetting that the Gettysburg battlefield and Bakersfield are more than 2,700 miles apart and when fans hear "Four score," they just think it's one better than a hat trick, the promotion doesn't make much sense at all until you realize it's for a good cause. The team will auction the jerseys off after the game for charity.

It's still disappointing because they blew a chance to tie in Abe's speech with an In-N-Out Gettysburger theme.
