Canelo Alvarez shows concern for Amir Khan after devastating 6th round KO (VIDEO)

Amir Khan had been screaming for a big fight the last two years and on Saturday night, after getting his shot, the valiant Brit only got to see a big right.

That's because all Canelo Alvarez needed was his powerful right hand to end a close fight with as destructive a knockout you will ever see.

After struggling with Khan’s speed for the first five rounds, Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs) finally unleashed a long right hand that sent Khan (31-4, 19KOs) flying backwards to the canvas, where referee Kenny Bayless didn’t even bother to count him out at 2:37 of the sixth round.

Alvarez retained his piece of the middleweight title after the devastating right, but went and kneeled before an unconscious Khan after the ref's call.

"You want to win by knockout, you never want to hurt anybody," said Alvarez after the fight. "It was my human reaction [to hover]. I don’t want to hurt someone"

After checking on Khan, the Mexican fighter then went over and motioned to Gennady Golovkin, who was ringside, to join him in the ring for a fight.

Alvarez says he has "no issue" fighting GGG at a 160-pound limit. Meaning a big obstacle has been removed towards setting up what could be the bout of the year — any year.

Floyd Mayweather's appearance at the Clippers-Nets game with celebrity pals Justin Bieber, Beyonce and Jay Z drew a lot of attention courtside at the Staples Center Thursday night.

And maybe more than the boxer wanted.

As the undefeated welterweight champ tried to enjoy the Clippers 123-84 blowout, more than a few fans used the opportunity to heckle Mayweather about avoiding a fight with Manny Pacquaio by chanting "We want Pacquiao, we want Pacquiao."

Negotiations between the two fighters are still ongoing as the boxing world waits for some sort of confirmation of the $200 million mega fight.

Pacquiao has already agreed to Mayweather's terms for the eagerly-awaited fight which has been penciled in for May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. But the Filipino, who has given Mayweather a Jan. 31 deadline to commit, is already scouting out a potential bout with Amir Khan if a deal doesn't materialize.

Amir Khan to wear 24 carat gold trunks worth $50,000 against Devon Alexander (PHOTOS)

In keeping up with LasVegas garishness, Amir Khan will be wearing the most outrageously expensive shorts in sports history when he faces Devon Alexander in the ring Saturday night.

The British fighter will don boxing trunks woven with genuine 24 carat gold thread through a waist band supporting white nappa leather trunks with crocodile trim during the welterweight showdown. 

Estimated cost of Khan's 12-round attire — $50,000.

Speaking of Sin City outrageousness, the winner of Saturday's bout could fight unbeaten five-weight world champion Floyd Mayweather next year.

Floyd Mayweather gave his millions of Twitter followers an insight — surprise — into his extravagant 37th birthday celebrations over the weekend with a selfie on board a private jet with friends and his security team.

Money, who has reportedly split from girlfriend Shantel Jackson, was surrounded by just as many lady friends as burly bodyguards before and during a Lakers game.

His Twitter post said, "Taking my team to the Lakers game on the 737 BBJ private jet. I don't just talk about it I live it themoneyteam.com" with this video:

The eight-time undefeated world title holder was due to fight Amir Khan on May 3 but it looks like he'll be squaring off against Argentine Marcos Maidana instead.

Mayweather won't rule out fighting desperate Pacquiao in near future (VIDEO)

Floyd Mayweather is ready to name Amir Khan as his opponent for his ring return on May 3 within the next week. Khan confirmed earlier this month that he had already signed a contract to fight the pound-for-pound No. 1 fighter in the world.

But the talk — as always— is still about Money meeting Manny Pacquaio.

On Wednesday,  Mayweather, who is on a week-long tour of South Africa, said Pacquiao's recent ring losses and financial circumstances could make the Filipino a little more flexible in his demands for the fight everyone wants.

"I offered Manny Pacquiao the fight before," said Mayweather. "We didn't see eye to eye on terms. Years later we come back and I try and make the fight happen again. I offer him $40 million. He said he wanted 50-50. So we didn't make the fight happen."

"All of a sudden, he [Pacquiao] loses to Timothy Bradley, he loses to [Juan Manuel] Marquez... he has tax problems now," he went on.

"So, two losses and tax problems later, now he all of a sudden want to say: 'You know what? I’d do anything to make the fight happen,' when he’s really saying: 'Floyd, can you help me solve my tax problems, get me out of debt?'"

In previous negotiations, both fighters disagreed on the split. Mayweather wanted 60-40 and Pacquiao wanted an even cut. With a reported $68 million delinquent tax bill hounding the Philippines senator, he just might be desperate for a lesser percentage of the potentially record-breaking pot.

The 36-year-old Mayweather is also considering a fight with Marcos Maidana who inflicted a first defeat on Adrien Broner last month.

But Broner has exercised his right to a rematch and will have his chance for immediate revenge in the spring.

So that, along with Mayweather's logic, leaves the door slightly open for what would probably be the last opportunity of a Mayweather-Pacquiao clash.

But we've heard that before.

Amir Khan blames Freddie Roach's Parkinson's disease for leaving trainer

Amir "King" Kahn seems to have a lot of excuses after he loses a fight.  If it's not the referee and judges like his loss to Lamont Peterson in December, it's the pre-fight taunts from Danny Garcia's trainer Angel Garcia — whom he attributed the fourth-round knockout in July.

During Tuesday's press conference at the Los Angeles Sports Arena to promote his upcoming Showtime fight against Carlos Molina (17-0-1, 7 KO's) on Dec. 15, Khan took his blame game to a place where nobody should go.

Instead of pinning the loss on himself, Khan (26-3, 18 KOs) said the reason he replaced Freddie Roach with trainer Virgil Hunter after the Garcia loss was because Roach's Parkinson's disease was affecting his ability to coach.

"Freddie's illness, it's very hard to see him as he's getting older.  I believe that he's getting worse, and I wish him all the best.  Freddie is still, with the Parkinson's disease, doing a great job working the mitts and working with fighters day in and day out.  I just believe that I need someone who is going to work me that bit harder and get the best out of me."

The 25-year-old British boxer has never faulted his glass jaw or defensive lapses and might just be miffed that Roach — one of the world's most sought after trainers — didn't stop working with Manny Pacquiao or any of the other boxers he trains to spend all of his time with Khan. That's fine.  But don't diss the man because he is ill.

"Freddie, with the Parkinson's disease, he was struggling with instructions and couldn't move."

Still, it was Khan who went to Roach fully knowing that the successful trainer has battled Parkinson's for years.  You aren't named Trainer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America five times if the only thing you can do is work the mitts.

Khan has a chance to redeem himself with Hunter in his corner, but a loss to Molina — in the 12-round 140 lb. bout — could end his career as a a big time draw.

The skilled Khan had every right to switch trainers but laying blame on Roach's illness is just a low blow.
