NY Giants will wear helmet decals in memory of Newtown school shooting victims

The New York Giants will wear a decal on their helmets Sunday afternoon in remembrance of the lives lost in the Newtown, Conn. shooting Friday morning.

Each one of the Giants players will have the initials S.H.E.S. (Sandy Hook Elementary School) on the back of their helmets in memoriam of the tragic crime.  Newtown is just about 60 miles northeast of MetLife Stadium where the Giants play their home games.  The school was the scene of a gunman's murderous burst of terror on a school full of young children and faculty.  Twenty-eight people were killed in all — including 20 schoolchildren.

The Giants' official Twitter account posted a photo of the red decal Saturday afternoon.

The Giants, as well as the rest of the nation, will carry a heavy heart into their game against the Falcons in Atlanta.  The NFL has asked home teams to observe a moment of silence before the national anthem at all games this weekend.
