Madonna's tightrope dancer looked like Will Ferrell

There was a lot of flipping during Madonna's Super Bowl half-time show last night.  One of the most publicized was was the middle finger of M.I.A.

But then there was some guy in a toga who just did them on a tightrope.

In what had to be the weirdest part of the show, a toga-clad dancer performed on a tightrope and— who at first glance looked like Will Ferrell, then later like Richard Simmons and— from some angles— even Art Garfunkel.

Bouncing on the wire to Madonna's lip-synched "Music," NBC's cameras gave us a close-up of his tightey-whiteys from below while his toga flapped with every painful looking bounce.

NBC censors had to be holding their breath. It would have been bad timing for another wardrobe malfunction.

The unnamed tightrope dancer had TV viewers alternately shaking their heads thinking "Wow!" then "Why?"

Madonna bopped alongside the performer for 30 seconds before he back-flipped off the wire and into a defiant cross-armed pose.

M.I.A.'s flip would come later.
