Martin Brodeur gives up ridiculous center-ice goal to Dwight King (VIDEO)

Martin Brodeur has more saves than anyone in the history of the NHL, which means the Blues' new netminder has also given up his share of goals too. But Ol' Marty probably never saw the puck get by him as ridiculously as this shot from Dwight King Thursday night.

When the Los Angeles Kings forward sent this seemingly harmless shot from center ice towards Brodeur, nobody in the arena thought twice about him making the simple glove save. But after the puck hit the ice, it skipped up once and then bounced off the ice, over Brodeur and actually got a piece of the water bottle for the comedic goal.

Adding insult to injury, that was the sixth goal that Brodeur gave up in the game — one that the Blues led 3-0 — tidying up the Kings' 6-4 come-from-behind victory.

Sure the 42-year-old future Hall of Famer looked silly but, we'll blame it on the bounce.

Buffalo Sabres broadcaster forced to call game from the bench (VIDEO)

Legendary Rick Jeanneret has been calling play-by-play for the Buffalo Sabres for over 40 years, but never has he been on top of the action like he was Tuesday night.

The 71-year-old broadcaster called Buffalo's 3-2 shootout win over the Kings from between the benches, a move that was made necessary due to a faulty elevator at First Niagara Center.

"This all started out as a lark,” Jeanneret said during the MSG broadcast. “The elevator that services the press box was broken down when I arrived at the building this afternoon, around 2:30. So I said, ‘Well OK, we’ll just do it between the benches with Rob Ray.’ At the moment that I said it, I was kidding. Well, not anymore.”

So Jeanneret took his microphone, donned a helmet — with a facemask and marked "RJ" by the equipment staff — and stood next to his broadcast partner and did what he's does best.

Golden Gophers hockey players celebrate goal, get helmets stuck together (VIDEO)

The hockey battle between No. 1 Minnesota Golden Gophers against No. 5 Boston College got off to an great start Friday night.

Hudson Fasching, a Los Angeles Kings prospect and Minnesota freshman forward, scored just 30 seconds into the game by scoring on a rebound to make it 1-0. The Gophers came together to celebrate the goal and as most of the players skated to the bench, Fasching and teammate Brady Skjei, a first-round pick of the New York Rangers, couldn't seem to part. Turns out their helmets were stuck together.

Fasching used his head, though. He took his helmet off and continued the goal celebration helmetless. 

In college hockey, full face masks are required, so this type of situation is unique and rarely happens. In the NHL, removing your lid could land you in the penalty box.

LA Kings' Jarret Stoll, BF of Erin Andrews, suffers seizure in LA home

Erin Andrews is usually the reporter asking the questions on the sidelines of a game but, on Thursday, it was Andrews who became part of the story when her boyfriend, Los Angeles Kings center Jarret Stoll, was rushed to the hospital after suffering a seizure in their Los Angeles home.

The couple, who have been dating for several months, had a scary Fourth of July moment when the NHL star suffered the seizure in his Hermosa Beach home early yesterday morning, reports the Los Angeles Times.

“Everything is okay. They’ve run some tests and they still had another one to run,” the team’s general manager, Dean Lombardi, said. “The bottom line is that he’s fine. Now the issue is what caused it.”

The 31-year-old NHL star, who was rushed to Little Company Mary Hospital in Torrance, suffered from a concussion when he took a hard hit to the head from San Jose Sharks’ winger Raffi Torres in game one of the Western Conference semifinal playoff series. The injury kept the Canadian-born hockey champ benched for the rest of that series, although he returned shortly after.

He admitted to the Times that he was “taking it slow” during the recovery of that concussion.

“I’ve done this before, earlier on in my career, so I know how it feels and what’s right and what’s not if I’m off or back to normal or not,” he said of the previous concussion he suffered from during the 2006-07 season while playing for the Edmonton Oilers. “So just day by day.”

Still, Lombardi said “there are a myriad of things that can cause” a seizure.

On the lighter side of things, Stoll said “things are good” in his relationship with Andrews.

“We actually went for a nice dinner,” he told E! News about his first date with the veteran sports correspondent after being set up by former NFL star and “Live with Kelly and Michael” TV host, Michael Strahan. “We spent the day out in Malibu, it was like the day before [Valentine’s Day] … had a great day out there and then had a nice dinner out here by the beach.”

LA Kings' Jonathan Quick beats censors on live TV

One way to rile up a crowd during a typical boilerplate speech is throw in a four-letter word to spice things up.  Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick did just that not once but three times with his profane praise of his teammates during a rally celebrating the team's Stanley Cup Championship on Thursday at the packed Staples Center.

During a live broadcast on KCAL 9, the Conn Smythe Trophy winner cracked up the thousands of fans— waving towels and giving standing ovations to every player— by mixing in the F-bombs with all the pomp surrounding the ceremony.

Even the anchorwoman acknowledged the censor wasn't fast enough on the button to bleep Quick all three times and apologized.

This year's Stanley Cup Trophy is getting the Hollywood treatment.  Before riding with the team on double-decker buses and flatbed trucks through Los Angeles' city center parade route, the large silver trophy has appeared on "The Tonight Show" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and on Wednesday it posed with the Kings at Dodger Stadium for a photo-op with the Dodgers and Angels after each Kings player threw out a first pitch.

And who can forget that adorable video of one player's kids dressed as Spiderman drinking chocolate milk from it?  Well, now comes the hardcore.

LA Kings appear on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and let host drink from Stanley Cup

A night after winning the first Lord Stanley Cup in the 45-year history of the club, the Los Angeles Kings appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and let the host drink some beer from the esteemed trophy.

The subdued (hungover?) squad appeared— wearing Kings' jerseys— on the show Tuesday night and, after Kevin Westgarth prompted Kimmel to take a swig of beer from the huge chalice, the host asked, "You guys didn't pee in this thing?"

After defenseman Willie Mitchell poured the brew down Kimmel's throat and even more over his suit, Kimmel proclaimed, "It tastes like victory."



Kimmel— a real hockey fan— goofed around with the team and mentioned that all the players will get their name engraved into the Cup before asking if the New Jersey Devils' player Steve Bernier would get his name etched on the trophy too.    Bernier was criticized for his five-minute major for boarding  Rob Scuderi and allowing the Kings to jump out to a three-goal lead the Devils couldn't overcome.

The eighth-seeded Kings won their first championship by crushing the Devils 6-1 Monday night to take the championship series four games to two.

Now each player from the winning team will get to keep the trophy for one day and eat or drink whatever they want from its bowl for 24 hours.

I'm betting on a lot of Molson and kid's cereals.

Adam Carolla is the LA Kings' biggest 'fan'

Comedian Adam Carolla visited his old pal on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show last night dressed in full Los Angeles Kings gear— including pads, helmet and on rollerblades— to show support for his "favorite" team.

Taking a jab at Los Angelelans— or whatever they're called— coming out of the woodwork during the Kings playoff run and hockey fever takes over the city, the Crank Yanker told Kimmel— his former co-host on "The Man Show"— he's "not  bandwagon guy."

"I was always talking about the Kings," Carolla joked.  "Hell to the no Jimmy.  I've been a King-natic, I call it, for many years."



When Kimmel quizzed the Kings "biggest fan" about the identity of the Kings' #32 on the back of Carolla's jersey, his guest got flustered and said, "Guy... Guy Robatusin?  Kobe?"

Carolla then squirted his face with water from a bottle.

"That was unnecessary," laughed Kimmel— who seemed a little confounded by Carolla's newfound loyalty to the Kings.

"It's weird, because when ever we'd work together on the radio, I'd go to Kings games all the time, and you really never came with me," Kimmel said.

"I was always talking about the Kings," Carolla responded before telling a touching story about how his father used to take little Adam to Kings games at the Staples Center.  One problem, Kimmel pointed out, the arena opened in 1999— when Carolla was 35-year old "boy."

Carolla's "favorite" team lost last night to the New Jersey Devils, 3-1.  I wonder how many Kings fans jumped off the bandwagon already.

It was probably about the black and white hockey jerseys anyway.

LA Kings fans taunt Devils bench with 'Jersey Shore' heads

Los Angeles Kings fans got a little creative in taunting their New Jersey Devils opponents during Game 3 of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals.

Behind the visiting team's bench, fans held up large cardboard heads of the cast members of the MTV reality show "Jersey Shore."

The gimmick might have worked after the Kings overwhelmed the Devils, 4-0 for a 3-0 series lead.  It looks like New Jersey will be doing more hand-wringing than fist-pumping leading up to Game 4.

There was no way the Devils players could avoid seeing the giant heads of The Situation, Pauly-D, J-Woww and the usually pint-sized Snooki being waved behind their bench.

Ronnie, Sammi Sweetheart, Vinny, Angelina or Deena were no where to be seen.

It was pretty funny to see the enormous heads bobbing up and down behind the players but, in reality, the Devils don't have any players from Jersey. Who knows if coach Peter DeBoer or the players even knew who they were.  Maybe if they held up giants heads of reality show stars from Stockholm or Moosejaw— they might have been in on the joke.

Anyway, kudos for the creativity.

If the Devils manage to pull out a victory in game 4, maybe New Jersey fans can make giant cutout  heads of the characters from "90210" or "The Real Housewives of Orange County?" I imagine closeups of those old broads would just be plain scary.

Skinny Rex Ryan cheers for Devils at The Rock

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan took a break from Tebow-mania and OTAs by taking in the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals between the New Jersey Devils and Los Angeles Kings at the Prudential Center.

Sporting a Ilya Kovalchuk jersey, Ryan showed up at The Rock to cheer on the Devils with his wife Michelle and their son Seth.

The Jets' training camp is just a few miles up Interstate 280 in Floral Park, so he was just keeping it real in Jersey.

Last year Ryan might have been the the biggest Devils fan — literally— but has lost a lot of weight during the off season and looked pretty fit in the Devils red and black.  He still won't reveal how he dropped the 90 pounds but said he is "breaking records" on the treadmill.

The players are also getting him about his svelte body.

"They push me to wear [long sleeves] because of the weight loss," he said.  "My arms look like twigs and things.  They're like, 'Put some sleeves on.'"

The Devils lost 2-1 following Anze Kopitar's overtime goal and the teams will meet in Game 2 on Saturday night.

Any chance Tim Tebow can lace 'em up?  Just wondering.
