Braylon Edwards angrily flips photographer by ankles (VIDEO)

This weekend ex-NFL star Braylon Edwards denied reports he attacked a man outside a Detroit nightclub and, contrary to the oft-troubled Edwards' claims, TMZ has obtained video proving the out-of-work wide receiver didn't just attack a man — he delivered a cheap shot that would make a WWE wrestler wince.

The video begins with the 6'3", 218-pound Edwards in the face of a photographer who allegedly shot footage of Braylon pushing someone else around outside the nightclub. 

After Edwards screams at the guy, the photographer starts to walk away ... but Edwards chased after him, and while the unaware shutterbug had his back turned, Edwards reached down and ripped his ankles out from under him ... sending the poor guy flying face first into the pavement.

Pretty rough stuff.

The smaller photographer eventually got up and headed to a nearby police station, where he filed a battery report against the 30-year-old, reports TMZ.

As for the extent of his injuries, TMZ said the man denied medical attention, claiming he only suffered minor injuries. 

After the incident, Edwards adamantly denied any wrong doing ... tweeting, "The reports are blasphemy. Was joking with friends and a guy was filming us. I asked him to delete it, he said no. He wasn't harmed at all."

Edwards' representative initially told TMZ ... the photog concocted the story in a shameless attempt to "take Braylon's money." 

According to TMZ, the photographer is flippin' mad about the attack and plans to pursue his case all the way through.

Hey Braylon. The Giants are looking are looking for a few good linebackers. Just sayin'.

Braylon Edwards: I can't wash the 'bad taste' of last season out of my mouth

Braylon Edwards is always good for a mouthful but when it comes to the New York Jets last season — less is better and just pass the double-strength Listerine.

“First and foremost, nobody sells mouthwash that could wash that taste out of my mouth from . . . last year,”  Edwards said Friday. “There was so much BS going on, it made you guys (the media) sick at the end of the day.”

Luckily for Edwards, last season he only played three games for the frustrating 6-10 Jets and only got a sip of the turmoil and not a Big Gulp-sized taste of the team's rancid play.

Edwards said there was so much going on with the Jets that it was a distraction from the goal at hand. 

“What’s going on with this guy, what’s going on with this situation?” the receiver said. “Is he in charge of the team, or is he in charge of the team? Whose team is it?”

However, the veteran wide receiver, who joined the Jets late in 2012 and has been a member of the team for less than three days this year, said he can already see a difference.

“That’s what I sense, I sense that everybody wants this organization to be better,” Edwards said. “I want to focus on: what can Braylon do to help the team?”

Braylon Edwards sued for child support again

Braylon Edwards will be returning to the field dressed in New York Jets green once again tonight and it sounds like this won't be the only return engagement he will have coming up.

The wide receiver is being sued for child support again after fathering a second love child with yet another woman, according to Page Six of The New York Post.

Edwards — who was picked up on waivers by the Jets from the Seattle Seahawks — is being sued in Manhattan Family Court by the fashion blogger Ashton Whittington after she gave birth to a son 18 months ago.

The controversial and often-troubled NFL star — who tweeted that the Jets decision makers were "idiots" before rejoining the team — will make his repeat performance with Gang Green tonight against the Tennessee Titans.

It looks like Edwards doesn't learn from past experiences.  He was already sued in 2010 by "America's Next Top Model" contestant Nik Pace with whom he had a son, Braylon Jr., now three years-old.  And he was let go by the Jets after the 2010 season

Page Six reports that Edwards and Whittington had a relationship around the time he was arrested in September 2010 [for DWI], and she became pregnant.

They are no longer together and Edwards pays for interim child support, but Whittington is suing for a more formal child support agreement.

Pace was suing Edwards for child support in 2010 and he tried to have the case heard in Georgia, hoping to "pay less money," said the Post story.  They later settled for much lower than Pace's reported $70,000-a-month demand.

In March, Edwards tweeted his devotion to his his most recent girlfriend Victoria Bow with these sweet words: "I will never let you down.  You are my world ... My twin, my soul, my earth, my beginning and my end.  Damn, I am on top of the world."

The Jets are a lot easier to romance.  In his tweet to the team, Edwards had them at "idiots."

Jets' Ryan confident that Braylon will play Monday night

Receiver Braylon Edwards is listed as questionable for his first game back with the New York Jets — while he deals with a hamstring injury that limited his practice all week — but Rex Ryan is confident that his new acquisition will be on the field Monday night against the Tennessee Titans.

"How much he'll play we'll see," the head coach said."  But I remain optimistic for Monday night."

The Jets will need all the help they can get for quarterback Mark Sanchez as the team clings to its slim chances for a playoff spot.  TE Dustin Keller  and WR Stephen Hill are listed as doubtful and did not practice Friday — making them almost a sure bet not to suit up.  Ryan's offense is starved for a passing game.

The Seattle Seahawks waived Edwards, who last played for the Jets in 2010, last week because of what they thought was a more serious hamstring injury.  The Seahawks believed Edwards would miss at least three weeks but the Jets took a chance on the talented wideout — even after he called Jets decision-makers "idiots" — and it looks like the old sticks and stones refrain just might be true.

Ryan later updated his receiver's status.

"I believe he will play," said Ryan.

Braylon Edwards practiced with the New York Jets for the first time Thursday and was more stunned than anyone that he was back with Gang Green.

After passing his physical, Edwards finally joined the team yesterday, after being claimed on waivers from Seattle, and only a week removed from calling the Jets decision makers "idiots" on Twitter.

Even the wide receiver's name calling couldn't stop the Jets front office from adding the speedy Edwards to the offense-starved roster.

"I really thought that there was no way that the Jets were interested ..." Edwards said. "After the tweet, it was like, 'Yeah, I burned that bridge.'"

Even so, there was Edwards standing by his locker talking about playing again on Monday and being sort of contrite for his remark.

"I didn't have to apologize, but chose to," said Edwards about his dig at either head coach Rex Ryan or general manager Mike Tannenbaum.  "It was a statement that was made in the heat of the moment ... we're past that."

While the consensus is that Edwards' Twitter jab was clearly directed at Tannenbaum, Ryan was back doing his old stand-up routine and joked about his new receiver's tweets while deflecting them at the same time.

"I'm happy to see him despite his obvious comment," said a smiling Ryan.  "I look at it this way, tantamount, Mike and I are just saying he's [Edwards] talking about you ... no, he's talking about you.  So we're both okay with it."

It's strange how playoff contention can make Ryan's he means you routine get a chuckle.  It wasn't exactly Abbott & Costello's baseball classic, but it's been a while since Ryan felt like he was standing at the mike of The Comedy Store.

"There's a lot of comments that get fired at me," Ryan said.  "I'm OK with them. I've always been a big fan of Braylon because I like the way he plays."

Edwards talked with Tannenbaum when they ran in to each other in the cafeteria. Talk about how the Jets handled Mark Sanchez seemed to be an after thought.

"He was just as  happy to see me or so it seemed," said Edwards.  "The awkwardness wasn't there."

Braylon Edwards backs Sanchez: Blames 'idiots calling shots' for problems

A former Jets player who helped Mark Sanchez through the first two years of his NFL career has come out and said the benched quarterback is not to blame for the team's current struggles.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Braylon Edwards, who spent most of 2009 and all of 2010 as Sanchez's main target with the Jets, posted to his Twitter account early Tuesday morning:

"I played there.  Blame the idiots calling shots. Mark is a beast and will [prove] it when given proper chance."

The Twitter blast may be directed at the Jets general manger Mike Tannenbaum.

There is no love lost between Edwards and Tannenbaum.  The animosity began after the Jets let Edwards go as a free agent before the 2011 season and the GM chose not to reunite him with Sanchez before this season when he was a free agent again.

The tweet is probably not directed at head coach Rex Ryan whom Edwards has always had a good relationship.  Edwards was caught by HBO's "Hard Knocks" cameras naming Ryan as the one person in the NFL who would give him a good reference when he was trying out with the Miami Dolphins this summer.

Rex Ryan Shows Off Plaxico and New Tattoo in Jets Training Camp

Plaxico Burress made his big debut in New York Jets green today, but his arrival in training camp was not as big as the prominent new tattoo gracing head coach Rex Ryan's right leg.  It looks like Ryan used his down time, during the lockout this summer, to get his calf inked with what looks like Japanese artwork-- maybe a dragon or a serpent.

Burress, the ex-New York Giants Super Bowl hero appeared on the sidelines of the Jets Florham Park training camp this afternoon.  The ex-con, who signed a one-year $3.017 million contract with Gang Green on Saturday, cannot participate in practice until Thursday due to the new labor rules.

The controversial Burress, who always expressed a desire to play under Ryan, must have really meant what he said.  The wide-out appeared at the facility three days before he can even run drills.

It's been over two years since the 33 year-old Burress has touched a football in an NFL surrounding but says he is in good shape.

Burress, who will wear his old No. 17-- Braylon Edwards' number-- was even given an additional $17,000 by the Jets because of his connection to the number.

Braylon Edwards: DUI Charge Was "B.S."

Braylon Edwards, the free-agent wide receiver of the New York Jets called his DUI arrest last year "B.S." and blamed all the attention it garnered on the New York City media.  In a Detroit radio station interview, Edwards claimed he wasn't even pulled over for driving under the influence, it was for tinted windows.

In the interview,  Edwards said he "wouldn't mind" returning to the Jets, and claimed he wasn't at fault for being arrested for suspicion of DUI last year with a blood alcohol level of 0.16---twice the legal limit.  It sounded like the NYPD and the New York media may keep him from coming back to the Jets.

 "Why I got pulled over wasn't even because of erratic driving or suspicion of intoxicated driving, it was for tinted windows, which is some B.S.," said Edwards.  "But you learn from it.  No matter if you drive there, you should have someone drive you back, be it a car service, cab a friend.  Don't put yourself in that situation."

Edwards was pulled over on the west side of Manhattan last Sept. 21  after a 31-23 win over the Miami Dolphins--a game where he scored an important touchdown.  He said the media blew the story out of proportion because it was in New York City.

"I wasn't the only guy to get a DUI last year," he said.  "A couple of athletes around the league have gotten DUI's, but the mere fact that that I was in New York, playing for the Jets, we had just got off "Hard Knocks," everyone was waiting for us to do something wrong anyway, it blew up."

Maybe the press blew it up because he put lives in danger and the Jets beat him with a feather as punishment.  The talented receiver was benched for the first quarter in their next game by the team.

It wasn't the first time Edwards did anything wrong.  He has several speeding violations and was once clocked doing 120 mph in a 65 mph zone.  Maybe he left the Browns because the Cleveland press made such a big deal out of him punching out LeBron James' buddy outside a nightclub a few years ago.

Whether or not Edwards returns to the Jets is any one's guess.  Besides disliking the New York media and NYPD,  Edwards hates the roads in the city.

"The bad thing about this situation is I never drive in New York," he claims.  "One, I don't know where the heck I'm going, and two, the roads are too bumpy and traffic is crazy.  I usually have a chauffeur, but it was  a random situation.  I went to a teammate's event and stepped out after that."

Edwards is waiting for the NFL labor dispute to end and isn't sure the Jets will be bring him and another free-agent receiver Santonio Holmes back as teammates.

At a charity basketball game, Edwards didn't totally dismiss returning to New York and predicted the the owners and union would reach an agreement soon.

"I wouldn't mind ending up back with the Jets," he said.  "I think we have a good chemistry and a good rapport and we're building on something."

Sorry to break the news to you Braylon but, if you come back to New York, the press, the cops and the potholes will still be here.
