A inspiring video of a young wrestler who won his first competitive match — and happens to have cerebral palsy — has gone viral and touched the hearts of thousands.
Nashville (Tenn.) Sunset Middle school wrestler Jared Stevens defeated Nashville (Teen.) Freedom Middle School opponent Justin Kievert — even though Stevens is unable to walk on his own.
Kievert, a seventh grader with compassion beyond his years, had to physically pull Stevens' arm over his own body to make the pin official while fans in attendance cheered and dried their eyes.
Stevens is more than inspiration for the Sunset wrestling team. He works with the grapplers every day — lying on the mat to serve as a practice partner for his teammates.
For his official match, Stevens' coach, Clay Mayes, asked the Freedom coach to pick the player with "the kindest heart" to face the determined Stevens. Kievert, the captain of the Freedom team, was nominated and accepted the intentional loss.
"I was a little nervous," Kievert said. "Then I kind of figured out what to do."
What he did was make a lot of people think hard and long about what school sports are really about.

Jeter back on his game with swimsuit model in New York
Derek Jeter — whether chubby, fat or just photographed at an odd angle — still looks better than most people — and has the women to prove it.
On Monday night, the New York Yankees shortstop was back in New York and spotted rekindling a romance with an old flame in a romantic Manhattan setting.
Jeter was seen at the Gramercy Park Hotel with pretty brunette model Hannah Davis, reports The New York Post.
"They were in the hotel bar late," said a spy. "They got on the elevator and went upstairs. he mentioned to the waitress that he hadn't seen her in a month because she doesn't like Florida, but he's working on changing that."
Funny, because it was beginning to sound like Jeets just couldn't fit through the door of his St. Petersburg mansion after reports that New York's No. 1 bachelor had added some poundage during his off season recovery from ankle surgery.
Davis, meanwhile, has no problem squeezing into a tiny swimsuit.
Jeter had been spending time in Miami while recovering from the October operation. He is still sporting a walking boot but is confident he will be ready for Opening Day.
The couple reportedly 'hugged and kissed, and looked very happy," said The Post.
The source added that despite the photos which showed Jeter had put on a few inches, he looked in "pretty good shape."
One must wonder if the infamous Jeter swag bag now comes with candy bars or Slim Fast.

Firestorm after WVU mascot shoots bear with musket and chants, 'Go Mountaineers!'
Hunting in West Virginia is probably as common as fishing in Florida but— after a video of the West Virginia University's Mountaineer mascot shooting a black bear with an old school musket was posted on YouTube and Deadspin. — a firestorm of criticism has flooded the Internet.
Jonathan Kimble, a senior who dons the cherished buckskin costume at WVU sporting events, was videotaped shooting the small bear as it was chased into a tree by dogs prompting an immediate "Go Mountaineers!' chant after the bear was felled. He was hunting in the woods of Pendleton County.
The YouTube video finishes with this little dig at other mascots:
"The Traditional Musket was a one shot kill and showed its not a Toy like some other college mascots play with."
The video has since been pulled from YouTube but the onslaught from both sides of the debate keep streaming in.
Kimble — the 62nd official Mountaineer mascot for the school — is within his rights to hunt as long as it is in season, the bear is tagged and checked to make sure it's not a cub. His critics say he took school spirit to an extreme.

Yankees in talks with Youkilis for one-year deal
It wasn't too long ago that Wade Boggs broke Boston hearts by ditching his Red Sox uniform and donned the despised pinstripes of the New York Yankees. Now there are reports that another famed Boston third baseman could be jumping from the Red Sox Nation into the Yankees Universe.
Youkilis played for the Chicago White Sox most of last season after being released by the Red Sox in mid-season.
He was a rookie with the "Idiots" who finally put an end to the Curse of the Bambino by bringing a World Series title to Boston in 2004 but didn't see any action in the Series before becoming a fan favorite.
Youkilis is a career .283 hitter who slipped to .235 last season. The 34-year-old Youkilis had a .336 OBP and hit 19 home runs with 60 RBIs in 2012 but has seen his numbers decline in recent years.

Braylon Edwards backs Sanchez: Blames 'idiots calling shots' for problems
A former Jets player who helped Mark Sanchez through the first two years of his NFL career has come out and said the benched quarterback is not to blame for the team's current struggles.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Braylon Edwards, who spent most of 2009 and all of 2010 as Sanchez's main target with the Jets, posted to his Twitter account early Tuesday morning:
"I played there. Blame the idiots calling shots. Mark is a beast and will [prove] it when given proper chance."
The Twitter blast may be directed at the Jets general manger Mike Tannenbaum.
There is no love lost between Edwards and Tannenbaum. The animosity began after the Jets let Edwards go as a free agent before the 2011 season and the GM chose not to reunite him with Sanchez before this season when he was a free agent again.

Jeter, was a guest on Michael Kay's ESPN-NY radio show Monday and made several jokes about the recent photos that led the media to declare that the Yankees shortstop had let himself go.
"I thought it was pretty funny," Jeter said with a laugh. The funny thing is, a day or two before then, people were telling me that I looked like I lost a lot of weight."
Later in the day, Jeter's buddy Harold Reynolds, the former player and current MLB Network analyst, offered photographic proof that Jeter hadn't gone to pot by tweeting a photo of himself and Jeter after they had lunch together on Sunday. The photo shows an actually svelte looking Jeets resembling his old 195-pound self.
Jeter, who had not spoken publicly since having his left ankle surgically repaired in October, told Kay that, after the frumpy fat photos ran, the phone started to ring.
"I had a lot of messages from a lot of different people asking me what I had been doing," he said.
Later in the interview, when he was asked what an athlete with a recovering ankle can do to stay in shape, Jeter joked, "Evidently, I haven't been staying in shape."
At least Reynolds' photo put to rest the perception that the 38-year-old Jeter was turning into a chubby-chaser's dreamboat. In fact, Jeter — who will be in a walking boot for "another few weeks" —insisted that he will be ready by Opening Day.
"We still have a long way to go before the season starts. I'll be ready," he said. "If you think about it, every year when the season is over, you take a few weeks off before you start working out. Quite honestly, I'm not behind schedule on anything right now."
