Trey Burke's buzzer-beater trumps Carmelo Anthony's trey with 2.3 seconds left (VIDEO)

Trey Burke made a buzzer-beating jumper from the corner to give the Utah Jazz a 102-100 victory Friday night over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, despite 46 points from Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony, who looked like he had a game-tying three-point shot with 2.3 seconds left in the game, was trumped by Burke after the sharpshooting guard hit a corner jumper at the buzzer to hand the Knicks their seventh straight loss.

Anthony did all he could, including the Knicks' final 11 points, but in the end it wasn't enough.

"I looked up," Anthony said, "and I was like, 'No, please.' I just wanted it to go to overtime."

Blake Griffin, Trevor Booker tangle after flagrant foul (VIDEO)

Utah Jazz forward Trevor Booker fouled Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin a little too hard under the net during the third quarter of Friday's preseason game. Griffin did not appreciate it, and the two exchanged words. Then things got a bit out of hand — or more like hands-on.

The fact that it was only an exhibition game probably didn't warrant Booker giving Griffin the cheap foul, but Griffin grabbing Booker's head probably didn't help matters.



Booker was assessed a flagrant-1, and both of them were also given technicals. Chris Paul got a technical for shoving Booker away, too.

The  Utah Jazz signed five-year-old boy to their roster for Monday's night's team scrimmage — and man did the little guy come through.

J.P. Gibson, a boy who has been battling lymphoblastic leukemia since 2012, always wanted to play with his NBA heroes and the team made sure his dream came true through the "Anything Can Be" project.

Near the end of the third quarter, the Jazz brought in Gibson as a sub. They gave him the ball and let him drive down the court before a member of the team lifted him up throw down a slam dunk.

The best part — J.P. looked like he's done it before. 

Utah Jazz apologize after tweeting photo of fan donning blackface to recreate Karl Malone pose

The Utah Jazz has been forced to apologize after seemingly endorsing a fan who donned blackface to dress up as former star player Karl Malone.

The team's Twitter account retweeted an image on Sunday depicting two fans recreating a photo of Malone and his teammate John Stockton, adding: "Can anyone top this Halloween costume?"

The tweet was originally sent by Tyler Christensen from Logan, Utah and compares an image of him and his friend in costume with the original image of the Hall of Fame duo.

"We tried our best to recreate the dynamic duo! #stocktontomalone #utahjazz #themailman," Christensen wrote, tweeting the message at the Utah Jazz and ESPN accounts.

After the Utah Jazz account retweeted the image in an apparent endorsement of the fans' use of blackface, it came under fire —  and the tweet was promptly removed, Deadspin first reported.

Some readers branded it 'offensive', while others lamented at how Halloween revelers choose to use blackface every year, despite the controversy it causes.

"We apologize for the last retweet/tweet moments ago," the Jazz account read minutes later on Sunday afternoon. "We have taken it down as it may be insensitive."

A Jazz spokesperson added: "Within minutes we realized the error, we deleted the Tweet and apologized to our followers."

Amar'e Stoudemire to undergo knee surgery, will miss six weeks

Amar'e Stoudemire felt a little soreness in his knee and missed Saturday morning's shootaround to get an MRI which later revealed that he needs surgery on his right knee and will most likely miss the rest of the regular season and into part of the playoffs.

He has elected to have the knee debridement surgery sometime this week.

The injury comes just when the New York Knicks forward had made great strides this season after missing the first 30 games for the same surgery and adjusting to coming off the bench this year.

The loss of Stoudemire's 14.2 points a game will put a big hole in the offense and, the six week recovery timetable tweeted by the Knicks office, will make holding on to the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference — with the Nets and Bulls breathing down their necks — an uphill battle.

"I feel for Amar'e, because again he's put a lot of work in this summer, to get back out on the court, with what he went through at the beginning of camp," head coach Mike Woodson said. "And now he's got to go back in again. I feel for the young man because he puts so much time and hard work in. But you know we got to go on."

Stoudemire has been shooting 57.7% from the field this season and had come to grips with being a bench player after Woodson limited his game time to 30 minutes.

"You don't expect a key guy like that to continue to go down, because he's a big piece to the puzzle," said Woodson. Stoudemire had a debridement on his left knee in training camp. When Stoudemire missed the morning shootaround before playing the Utah Jazz, Woodson had an uneasy feeling.  He explained this was one reason he had put such a limit on his playing minutes. At the time, Woodson didn't know how serious it was.

"He's been very sufficient in terms of how he's been playing especially in the offensive end, and he's gotten better defensively," said Woodson.

"It's a loss, a major loss to what we're trying to do," said Woodson. "We're going to have to wait on him."

Delonte West gives Gordon Hayward a "Wet Willie"

In what has to one of the most unusual fouls in NBA history, oddball Dallas Mavericks guard Delonte West gave Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward a "Wet Willie" during last night's game.

It happened during the second quarter of the game when West walked over to his opponent and stuck his finger in Hayward's ear.

Jazz announcers jumped all over the act.

"The low of lows in sportsmanship," one said.  "I've never seen that in professional sports— a finger in the ear," said the other.




West was just called for a blocking foul on Hayward before he walked over and touched him.  It's hard to see where West's finger was before the incident.  He received a technical for the childish offense but was not ejected.

Maybe a "purple nurple" would justify getting thrown out.

Either way, Hayward had the last laugh after the Jazz beat the Mavs, 123-121, in three overtimes.
